Abstract:At the Advanced Interantional Academic Forum on Dong Zhongshu’s Thought in 2015, experts and scholars both at home and abroad started the communication and discussion on many issues of Dong Zhongshu’s thought and culture. They believed that Dong Zhongshu together with Concius and Zhu Xi was considered as the three giants of Confucianism. In the light of other school thoughts and without deviating from Confucianism, he had constructed a dynamic ideological system, and his creative approach was worth reference to the contemporary philosophers. About Dong Zhongshu’s birth and death year, some scholars proposed two intervals, that is, he was born in the early years of Emperor Gao Zu’s rule and died after the fourth year of Yuan Feng (107 B.C.) or before the first year of Tai Chu (104 B. C.). The participants clarified the prejudice of“banning other school thoughts and honouring Confucianism alone ”proposed by Dong Zhongshu and emphasized that in studying Dong Zhongshu’s thought, historical narrative and philosophical narrative should learn from each other. Today, when we study Dong Zhongshu’s thought, we should take the responsibility of contributing our knowledge and power to the innovation of our national govenance system. Dong Zhongshu’s thought of“the three cardinal guiding principles and the five constant virtues”continued to be a dispute among the scholars.
