Model of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control among Preschool Children in A Community of Beijing

Abstract:Objective To investigate the model of infectious disease prevention and control among preschool children in a community of Beijing.Methods We used qualitative interview to explore the current model of infectious disease prevention and control among preschool children in the community,including its advantages and disadvantages.We used experts consulting to propose a new model of infectious disease prevention and control among preschool children.Results The current model has a three-tier management structure,lacking the support from District Agriculture Committee-Street Office.The new model utilizes the Resident Committee and community volunteers to assist the Health Care Department in infectious disease prevention and control.They can obtain timely information about the residents and help with addition of newly-moved in preschool children to the community management system.They can also supervise the immunization among the community children and conduct health education on infectious disease prevention and control.Conclusion The new model of infectious disease prevention and control which utilizes Resident Committee and community volunteer can efficiently and effectively ensure the whole coverage of the community children.
