Research on the prevalence situation of the infectious diseases of preschool children in one community of Beijing

Abstract:Objective To know the prevalence situation of the infectious diseases of preschool children in one community of Beijing,in order to make the suggestion for the prevention and control of infectious diseases among Beijing preschool children.Methods The infectious disease report records of children aged 0 to 6.5 in this community from July 2008 to June 2011 were extracted from China information system for diseases control and prevention——information system for disease surveillance,and the prevalence situation of the infectious diseases was analyzed.The Kindergarten property,the number of teachers and students,and the infectious disease report records from July 2010 to June 2011 were also investigated by the Health Care Department of this Community Health Service Center,and the prevalence situation of the infectious diseases in these kindergartens was analyzed.Results The number of infectious diseases reporting was 131 cases,the top three infectious diseases of children with household registration in Beijing were hand-foot-mouth disease(44.0%),other kind of infectious diarrhea(24.8%) and bacillary dysentery(17.4%),while those for children with non Beijing household registration were varicella(31.8%),hand-foot-mouth disease(27.3%) and scarlet fever(13.6%).The top three infectious diseases of scattered children were hand-foot-mouth disease(32.2%),other kind of infectious diarrhea(32.2%) and bacillary dysentery(20.7%),while those of kindergarten children were hand-foot-mouth disease(59.1%),varicella(15.9%) and scarlet fever(11.4%).The compositions of infectious diseases between Beijing household registration children and non-Beijing household registration children,and between scattered children and kindergarten children both had significant differences(P < 0.05).The cases with other kind of infectious diarrhea(29 cases),bacillary dysentery(21 cases),varicella(14 cases) and scarlet fever(6 cases) among children aged 0-6.5 from July 2010 to June 2011 increased than the last two years,while the incidence of other infectious diseases had no change or little reduced.There was no case reporting of infectious diseases with clustering characteristics in kindergarten of this community,and the highest proportions of the scattered infectious diseases were hand-foot-mouth disease(1.3%) and varicella(0.5%). Conclusion The infectious diseases of hand-foot-mouth disease, other kind of infectious diarrhea and bacillary dysentery in this community are the focus on prevention and control of infectious diseases of digestive tract for preschool children. Varicella and scarlet fever are focus on prevention and control of infectious respiratory disease in preschool children. Hand-foot-mouth disease and varicella are the important diseases prevention and control of notifiable diseases for nurseries and kindergartens of this community.
