Abstract:Objective To study the change and significance of c-reactive protein as a systemic inflammatory factors in the occurrence and development of atrial fibrillation(AF) in patients with maintenance hemodialysis(MHD).Methods We recruited 36 patients with MHD combined with atrial fibrillation,in which 16 patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation,20 patients with persistent atrial fibrillation(including permanent atrial fibrillation),and 32 MHD patients with non-atrial fibrillation as the controls.Levels of serum CRP and left atrial diameter(LAD) in all patients were measured.Results The level of serum CRP and LAD in the persistent atrial fibrillation group was significantly higher than that in the paroxysmal atrial fibrillation group and control group(P 0.05).But the difference of LAD between the paroxysmal atrial fibrillation group and the control group was not statistically significant(P0.05).There was a positive correlation between CRP of persistent AF and LAD(r=0.60,P0.05).Conclusion Inflammation is an important basis for the occurrence and development of atrial fibrillation in MHD patient.
