Abstract:In modern times,while Western learnings were introduced into China,Confucian classics became historiography.The East Zhejiang scholarship integrated the classics with the institution,which made it an important site for modern scholars to communicate between the old（China） and the new（West）,and build the new academic system.Liu Xianxin regarded the East Zhejiang scholarship his principal learning.He compiled The Collection of Roots（Xianhe Lu） many times,and constructed an academic genealogy of the East Zhejiang scholarship which perceived the Wuzhou historiography as the surface and Yaojiang Neo-Confucianism as the core.Moreover,Liu Xianxin explored the academic origin of literary and historical collation of the East Zhejiang School in the way of "knowing the categories and understanding the general system",and tried to integrate the study of life with the study of classics and history,in order to achieve the modern transformation of Chinese scholarship.The paper probes the sources and purposes of the original meaning and theme of Xianhe Lu,and hopes to show that the modern East Zhejiang School had been constantly shaped in the historical context and academic network.In addition,the paper also tends to provide some thoughts on how to clarify the changes of modern scholarship and analyze the transformation of Chinese civilization.

Abstract:Great historian Chen Yinke wrote a series of prefaces to the works of other scholars and epilogues with reference to old documents, in which he presented his considerations of his academic road and research methods, and expressed his feelings about life and worldly affairs. These writings are not only Chen's profound interpretation and affirmation of the significance of the academic researches with the "sympathy of understanding", but also serve as a way to comfort his friends, which can be seen as important materials to reveal his academic experiences, spirits and views. This article intends to discuss Chen’s research methods and ideas in history studies by analyzing dozens of prefaces and epilogues collected in the "Anthology of Chen Yinke", and thus wishes to comb out a fresh interpretive mode for the studies of Chen Yingke and his scholarship.

Abstract:Chen Yinke and Qian Mu,starting with mutual interpretation between poetry and history,have made great contributions to the formation of poetics.First,they give a poetic interpretation to the formation of national culture;second,they conclusively prove that romantic personality embodies the cultural idiosyncrasy in the life of a nation;third,they provide a poetic description of the beautiful spirit in Chinese culture;and fourth,they lay stress on the free spiritual experience in the history of national literature.All these provide some enlightenments to the reconstruction of contemporary poetics and axiological aesthetics.

Abstract:In this paper the author aims to explore the philosophical essence presented in Qi Wu Lun of ZhuangZi and discusses some approaches to better understanding the subtleness of the theme and different interpretations of some key concepts in Qi Wu Lun.The author goes further by making a comparative study between some seemingly contradictory concepts presented by Qi Wu Lun and Xiao yao you respectively and reveals a fundamental harmony between them.Finally,the author proposes some reading strategies for understanding of philosophical ideas in ZhuangZi: start with the fables first and then study the inertial articles,the most recommendable of which is to read Qi Wu Lu and Xiao yao you comparatively so as to develop one's concrete and abstract logic reasoning competency.

Abstract:The theory of Zhi in traditional Chinese medicine covers a wide range of content levels. The ancient people's understanding of Zhi has a cross disciplinary understanding between philosophical and medical fields. If Zhi is only related to the theory of visceral manifestation and emotional theory in traditional Chinese medicine, it is difficult to fully explain its specific meaning. Since the Huangdi Neijing, the state of Zhi can be used as an evaluation criterion to diagnose a person's health and the degree of illness. Throughout history, medical practitioners have attached great importance to the diagnosis and health preservation of Zhi. Modern scholars have also explored it from multiple perspectives, but there is still a lack of clear understanding of the definition of Zhi. It is necessary to further explore, organize and summarize the research on Zhi in modern times.

Abstract:This paper is on the relationship between Zi (the monosyllabic Chinese word) and Chinese studies, and meant to a preface to the upcoming book Zi-based Chinese linguistic Study Series. Modern Chinese linguistics since Ma Shi Wen Tong has characteristically denied the importance of Zi as the basic structural unit of the language, and thus has been far off the early established tradition of Chinese classical academic studies. This modernism, featuring an acceptance of a new theory at the expense of our tradition, is clearly inappropriate. In the light of Y.R.Chao, Lü Shuxiang and Wang Li's remarks, the paper addresses such issues as the importance of Zi in Chinese language structure and its relation with studies on linguistic universals and with the two "combinations", i.e. combinations of Chinese and western, traditional and modern linguistics, and offers some tentative ideas on creative theoretical linguistic studies.

Abstract:Professor ZHANG Shan-chen's clinical experience and academic thoughts in the field of acupuncture are summarized. Professor ZHANG stresses on theoretical exploration and has written Zhenjiu Jiayijing Shuxue Chongji, published a series of articles on textual research and expounded the nomenclature of acupoints. He believes that clinical practice should be guided by theory and the comprehensive syndrome differentiation be emphasized. Hence, a holistic idea should be cultivated, in which, the human body is considered as an organic whole and should be adaptive to the nature. Based on the theory above, the diagnosis can be determined and the effective treatment be received. He suggests selecting few acupoints, identifying the deficiency from the excess so as to determine the reinforcing or replenishing method and exerting appropriate needling manipulation. Additionally, the response should be enhanced on the identification of deqi after needle insertion. Moreover, a great consideration is laid on the clinical trial and application of moxibustion, which is complemented with acupuncture technique each other and mutually conductive to the clinical effect.

According to the comparison on their annotations of Zhu Yizun‘s poem"Man‘gan",a conclusion is reached that Jiang‘s annotations are initial,Yang‘s the best,and Sun‘s indispensable. Abstract:Mr. Qiu Xigui is generally acknowledged throughout the academia as an accomplished scholar in the fields of ancient philology, ancient documents and early history of China. In March 2007, he accepted the interview of the special correspondent of the Journal of Literature, History and Philosophy. During the interview, Mr. Qiu looked back upon the course of his studies and research, and talked freely on the problems of the "Ku-shih-pien" School, early Chinese history, the studies of excavated documents, "the Method of Dual Evidence", "Times of the Five Lords", etc. From his viewpoint, the "Ku-shih-pien" School is correct in the general orientation on the knowledge of the early history, but needs much redress in textual criticism, therefore nowadays, we should assimilate its historical skepticism with discrimination. Since the 1970s, there has emerged a large amount of excavated books and records, yet to the studies of the excavated documents, the handed-down ancient Classics and the studies of the Classics done by scholars through the ages are still the foundation. The main problem with the current Chinese classical studies, including the studies of excavated documents, does not lie in the lack of theory or method, but in the lack of scientific attitude on the part of the researchers. We must advocate academic morality and conscience, as well as a realistic and matter-of-the-fact attitude that holds everything for the purpose of the academics itself.
