Abstract:As one of the core parts of military science in China,the study of Sun-tzu's military strategy has experienced the following 5 stages since the appearance of Sun-tzu's Art of War.The first is the commencement from the Warring States to the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty.The second is the development from the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty to the Late Northern Song Dynasty.The third is the further development from the Late Northern Song Dynasty to the Early Qing Dynasty.The fourth is the evolution from the Late Qing Dynasty to present.While the recent 30 years is its flourishing stage.In a word,the systemic investigation of its development and features from the perspective of academic thinking histroy is an invaluable academic task in the study of Chinese military history and academic history.

Abstract:Based on exploring the historical role of wars and attaching importance to the commanders' individual characters,Sima Qian was the first person to compile biography for Sun Tzu.The life story of Sun Tzu was illustrated a nd the completion and the chapters of The Art of War was recorded in Sun Tzu 's Biography in Shih Chi.The bamboo slips of Han Dynasty unearthed in Yinque Mountain fully improved the correctness of the records in Shih Chi.Sima Qian employed Sun Tzu 's thought to evaluate the military strategists,such as Bai Qi,Zhang Liang and Han Xin,etc.,and contrasted and analyzed some significant battles.Sima Qian's records and the employment of Sun Tzu 's thought made himself to be the first to study Sun Tzu 's science,laid the foundation for Sun Tzu 's science and made contribution to the research into Chinese military science.

Abstract:On reading the book Daozang, Chen Guofu have made great achievements on Taoism, among which the study on the School of Highest Clarity is one.He, on the one hand, extended the tradition of textual research in Qing Dynasty, featuring in fact verification, while on the other, made appropriate inductions and evaluations through modern scientific methodology.With the integration of the detailed study on Taoist scriptures and abstract theories, he not only explored a large number of valuable data on the development of the School of Highest Clarity, but also put forward some creative proposals on the topic.As a matter of fact, seldom have scholars on Taoism not been benefited by his work A Study on the Origins of Daozang.

Abstract:In this paper the author aims to explore the philosophical essence presented in Qi Wu Lun of ZhuangZi and discusses some approaches to better understanding the subtleness of the theme and different interpretations of some key concepts in Qi Wu Lun.The author goes further by making a comparative study between some seemingly contradictory concepts presented by Qi Wu Lun and Xiao yao you respectively and reveals a fundamental harmony between them.Finally,the author proposes some reading strategies for understanding of philosophical ideas in ZhuangZi: start with the fables first and then study the inertial articles,the most recommendable of which is to read Qi Wu Lu and Xiao yao you comparatively so as to develop one's concrete and abstract logic reasoning competency.

Abstract:Fukunaga Mitsuji was one of the pioneers of Taoist studies in Japan.He first appreciated the thought of Laozi and Zhuangzi, then studied the Taoist school of Emperor Huang and Metaphysics of Wei and Jin, and finally involved himself in the field of Taoist studies.Influenced by the Kyoto school, he adopted an empirical approach to study the impact of Chinese Taoism on Japanese Shinto beliefs, tennoism, philosophy and cultural custom in sorting out relevant Chinese and Japanese classical doc-uments through historical narration and cultural comparison.He used a simple study style and pursued the scientific nature of Taoism from the perspective of Chinese and Japanese culture.His creative views on Taoism, though somewhat questioned, played a leading role in the field of Taoist studies in 20th century East Asia.

Abstract:The paper tries to point out the three contributions made by Mr.Qian Zhongshu in the comparative study of Chinese and Western philosophies.First,he pushed over the position that "Chinese isn't more thoughtful than German" by the fact that "the opposite meanings in a word" are exerted widely in Chinese philosophy.Second,he proved the identity of the way of human's philosophical thinking by the fact that the same thoughts of "harmony between human and nature" and "harmonious but different" in the West.Third,he proved the identity of the heart of poem and literature by comparative aesthetics.Mr.Qian maybe ignores the subtle differences between them,although he has demonstrated the universal law of "the hearts of the East and the West are the same".The deficiency may be remedied by Liang Zongdai's some points.

Abstract:Starting with Prof.Sun's academic achievements,the article expounds on contributions he made both to the Chinesization of Marxism and to the study of the history of Chinese philosophy.Prof.Sun insisted that the basic principles of Marxism are divided into 3 parts,and that dialectical materialism is made up of 4 parts,material dialect “ 3+ 9” and historical materialism 7 parts.There is plentiful academic individuality in the study on the basic principles.Prof.Sun's achievements play an important role in the Chinesization of Marxism from the 1950s to the early 1980s.This article gives an account on Prof.Sun's exploration on the legitimacy of Chinese philosophy in five aspects:the “ three in one” evolving history of Chinese philosophy established by“ A Manuscript of the History of Chinese Philosophy” written by Sun;the meta-theory based on the logical development of Chinese philosophy and related scientific theories;the evaluative system of unity between subjectivity and objectivity,between ancient and modern times,and between cognition and value;the writing methods under the guidance of Chinesizational Marxism;the category system of the history of Chinese philosophy.

Abstract:As the theoretic means for explaining and analyzing the thinking history, the study pattern potentially stipulates the academic vision and analyzing methods for the thinking history. The present study often puts the modern enlightenment to the opposing frame between rationalism and non-rationalism and leads to the theories such as the opposite between the enlightenment and salvation, belief and reason. Aiming at various defects brought by such dualist opposing static study patterns, it is necessary to use the dynamic study pattern, reconstruct the ways to understanding the Chinese enlightening questions and the principle of value estimate; first of all it is to set the study method of 'relation thought'; secondly, on t-his basis to carry out the dynamic investigation of the enlightening principle.

Abstract:Abstract Studies on Tao Yuanming have often focused on his personality, reclusive life, and pastoral poetry. However, Tao’s extant oeuvre includes a large number of poems on history. This article aims to complement current scholarship by exploring his viewpoints on life through a close reading of his poems on history. His poems on history are a key to Tao’s perspectives with regard to the factors that decide a successful political career, the best way to cope with difficulties and frustrations, and the situations in which literati should withdraw from public life. Examining his positions reveals the connections between these different aspects. These poems express Tao’s perspectives on life, as informed by his historical predecessors and philosophical beliefs, and as developed through his own life experience and efforts at poetic composition.

Abstract:The core concept of Lao-tzu's philosophy has three features-Chong (hollowness),Yuan (deepness) and Zhan (clearness).These features focus on non-confrontational principles being harmonious with Nature and inner peace.In China's history,the application of the grand strategic principle of Lao-tzu,seen in dynasties like West Han,Tang and Northern Song,resulted in two contrasting political outcomes.The principle of ruler-doing-nothing had allowed the people to recover quietly by building a prosperous dynasty.In contrast,it failed to instruct a growing-in-power dynasty to act aggressively,in other words,its answer of desire-restrained policy,would not meet the stronger dynasty's strategic goals.

Abstract:This paper proposes a new reading of Ruan Ji’s Essay on Zhuangzi.Scholars have argued that Ruan’s essay honored Taoist spontaneity and criticized Confucian moral teachings.However,this paper argues that written around 247,Ruan’s essay actually offered a fresh interpretation of Zhuang Zi’s philosophy in that it considered the idea of equality of all things as the main thread that underlies Zhuang Zi’s thought.Thus Ruan attempted to harmonize the “inner-worldly” Confucian moral teachings and the “other-worldly”Taoist pursuit of spontaneity.In this regard,Ruan’s understanding of Zhuangzi anticipated the interpretations of Xiang Xiu and Guo Xiang on Zhuangzi that came decades later.

Abstract:This paper focuses on Sun Shaozhen's new works A Lecture on Literariness, deeply analyzes Sun's study on the logic of feeling and the literary formal principles, and compares it with Susan Langer's formalist aesthetics in detail. As a conclusion, we consider that Langer's study on art forms achieves a considerable height and strength, but it is a little empty because of its metaphysical character, while Sun deepens, particularizes, reifys and operationalizes the metaphysical concepts and principles which Langer cannot discuss deeply with his unusual abilities of induction and abstraction. The difference between Sun and Langer shows they both inherit and exceed each academic tradition, and construct their own theory proceeding from each theoretical aim and interest.
