The Thought and Methods of Planning of Poetry-conception in the Context of Chinese Culture

Abstract:Poetry-conception is the distinct characteristic of Chinese culture. With the poetry-conception, the process of urban planning is also the process of seeking and creating the Poem-city. There are positive meanings for urban planning to rear the ecology concept of harmonious relationship between the human and nature, to break the hackneyed pragmatistic work-mode that planning is same as the “executing" according to the normative and immovable procedure, and to rebuild the speaking-power of Chinese culture in the realm of urban planning.This paper elucidate that it is a new way of contemporory planning with characteristic of Chinese culture that having a poetry-heart, borrowing and developing rationaly the “fengshui",validating it with the theory of modern urban planning(including the theory of urban ecology), and finally looking for the sublimation of poetry-conception by the inspiration of Chinese poetry spirit.
