Abstract:There were multi-forms in the modern architec-ture of Harbin,and it had important place in the modern urbanarchitecture of China.This paper roundly dissertates the artis-tic characteristics of the modern architecture in Harbin fromthree aspects:the reappearance of traditional architecturalculture,the overall introduction of the new architecture of Eu-rope and the experiment of“Chinese Baroque”buildings,also it clarifies Harbin is the most abundant city of the archi-tectural forms in modern China.

Abstract:With the advancement of urbanization, the complexity and diversity of urban spatial forms have become increasingly prominent, profoundly and widely affecting aspects such as urban spatial layout and planning, as well as residents' quality of life. This paper focuses on the buildings in Harbin City, comprehensively reflecting the spatial form of Harbin through multiple dimensions including building height, volume, and area. This research precisely quantifies three key indicators of urban buildings: building coverage, building expandability, and building staggeredness. Subsequently, these indicators are intertwined with the main driving factors of urban development (including economic development and resident population) to conduct a multidimensional spatial form analysis. The results indicate that the diversity of Harbin's urban spatial form is the result of the interplay of multiple factors, including economic and demographic influences. These analytical outcomes not only reveal the evolution mechanism of Harbin's current urban spatial form but also provide data support and theoretical basis for future urban planning and management.

Abstract:The early 20th century, in western countries, to explore how to adapt to the production and living needs of industrialized societies, various new architectural ideas came into being one after another. From the Art Nouveau which swept across the European continent and Art Deco which was popular in Europe and America to radical Modernism, they embodied the comprehensive development and changes of world architecture. The three major architectural movements successively landed Harbin which was a fresh city in northern China of Modern Time. There arisen a number of characteristic representative architecture. This article introduces and analyses the unique performance of these three architectural movements in Harbin in detail to makes the important conclusion that Harbin is the outpost of western Modern Architecture introduce into China.

Abstract:As the joint connecting urban and rural areas, the special ways are needed in the spatial urban planning & design of the urban marginal areas. Based on the cases of environmental planning in Harbin's marginal area under urban expansion background, the paper discusses the interdependent and symbiotic relationship between city and natural environment, and explores the effective modes finding, changing and utilizing the value elements of suburban environment. Abstract:There were several city typological transformation patterns in modern China. Harbin took the construction of Chinese Eastern Railway as the primary power of city typological transformation and took the subsidiary area of the railway as the beginning of the city typological transformation, promoted the expansion of the city modernization through the development of industrial and commercial trade, began the construction by the numbers according to novel city planning for Harbin. And then Harbin swiftly developed into an important city of international commercial trade in the north of modern China in a short time and formed a unique city typological transformation pattern of Harbin. The paper is divided into three parts to entirely analyze and discuss the city typological transformation pattern of Harbin.

Abstract:Affordable housing policy was gradually established with the development of economic system reform, especially the housing system reform. As further asking for establishing a comprehensive housing supply system which should give priority to affordable housing, this resulted in the rapid development of affordable housing all over the country. Harbin started to construct affordable housing from 1996([2]). Over eighty affordable housing projects have been constructed until now, including houses constructed by working units for their employees, accommodating a large number of low- and middle-income families. This paper started by reviewing the development of affordable housing in Harbin City. Then, it surveyed the composition of residents, location and transportation of the sites, housing types, housing quality, and local infrastructures of 8 affordable housing districts through interview and questionnaires. The problems of the current policy of affordable housing were analyzed according to the results of the survey. At last, several suggestions were put forward to improve the affordable housing policy.
