Abstract:The choice of urban spatial development direction is the important aspect of urban development and planning. Commonly, before making a choice of urban spatial development direction, planners often analyze some factors just like nature, economics and transportation, and want to make a blue-print of urban spatial development direction, but analyzing from the aspect of political geography is infrequent. This article finds out that: Although the choice of urban spatial development direction about border city has been influenced by factors as mentioned before like nature, economy and transportation as other cities, it should be considered from national boundaries character, and political geography structure may become the most dominant aspect in some special period.
