Abstract:Two new 18-norschiartane-type schinortriterpenoids, namely wuwezidilactones Q (1) and R (2) were isolated from the stems of Schisandra lancifolia. Their structures were determined on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis. The absolute configurations of the new compounds were further determined by ROESY and an empirical comparison of their experimental ECD spectra with literature.

Abstract:Two new cassane diterpenoids, sucupiranin MN ( 1 ) and sucupiranin ML ( 2 ), together with two known compounds sucutinirane C ( 3 ) and deacetylsucutinirane C ( 4 ) were isolated from the seed kernels of Caesalpinia sinensis . Their structures were elucidated by means of analysis of comprehensive spectroscopic data, especially HRESIMS and 1D/2D NMR spectroscopy. Compounds 1–4 are typical furan-type cassane derivatives with an aromatized C ring. Biological evaluation revealed that compounds 1–4 at the concentration of 10 μM could inhibit the overproduction of NO in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages.

Abstract:Two new ent-kaurane-derived diterpene derivatives, phyllostacins A (1) and B (2), were isolated from the aerial parts of Isodon phyllostachys, together with two known compounds, irroratin A (3) and serrin B (4). Both 1 and 2 were found to be present as diastereoisomers. In the case of 1, the corresponding diastereoisomeric diacetates 5 and 6 were prepared and separated. The structures of the new compounds were elucidated by extensive 1D- and 2D-NMR spectroscopic methods, in combination with MS experiments. In (D-5)pyridine solution, the two epimers of 1 are present in equal amounts, but in CDCl3 or CD3OD, the (S)-epimer predominates in the mixture of hemiacetals.

Abstract:Two new sulfur glycosides, bursapastoris A–B (3–4), were extracted and isolated from shepherd's purse seed, along with two new natural products, 11-(methylsulfinyl)undecanoic acid (2) and 10-(methylsulfinyl)decanoic acid (1). Their structures were determined though infrared spectroscopy, one-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance (1H and 13C), and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. Additionally, the structures of 3–4 were further identified by two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance (HMBC, HSQC, 1H-1H COSY, and NOESY). Compounds 1–4 showed relatively favorable docking to NF-κB. Unfortunately, we only discovered that compound 1–4 had weak anti-radiation activity at present. Therefore, further research regarding the biological activity of these organosulfur compounds is required at a later stage.

Abstract:A new flavonoid, 8-(3-hydroxymethyl-2-butenyl)-5,7,2',4'-tetrahydroxyflavanone (1), along with seven known compounds, (2R)-3α,7,4'-Trihydroxy -5-methoxy-8-prenylflavanone (2), (2R)-3β,7,4'- Trihydroxy-5-methoxy-8-prenylflavanone (3), 3,7-dihydroxycoumarin (4), Shandougenines B (5), Specionin (6), Kushenol N (7) and Kushenol I (8) were isolated from the roots of Sophora flavescens. Among them, Compound 5 was isolated from Leguminous plants, and compounds 4 and 6 were isolated from Sophora flavescens for the first time. Their structures were elucidated by the aid of NMR, HRMS, HMBC and CD spectroscopic methods.

Abstract:In this study, different extracts from the seeds of Desmodium styracifolium were screened for their potential antioxidant activities by reducing power and hydroxyl and superoxide radical assays. From the above tests, n-BuOH extract of D. styracifolium seeds exhibited good reductive potential and obvious scavenging effect on hydroxyl (OH), and superoxide (O2–) radicals. Therefore, bioassay-guided fractionation and a chemical investigation of n-BuOH extract were carried out, and three new flavonol glycosides (1, 2, 4) together with a known compound (3) were isolated. The chemical structures were further determined by a combination of 1D, 2D NMR, and HR-MS.

Abstract:In this study, four types of compounds including coumarins, chromones, furoylmethyl amino acid derivative and benzofuran glycoside were isolated from the roots of Saposhnikovia divaricata. The electrospray ionization (ESI) mass spectral fragmentation pathways of these compounds were proposed. In particular, the ESI-MS(n) fragmentation behavior of linear dihydrofurocoumarins, dihydrofuro- and dihydropyranochromones were deduced in detail. For the linear dihydrofurocoumarins, the fragmentation was triggered by the initial loss of the C-4' substituting group. Then, the characteristic ions were observed followed by the losses of 15, 18, 28 and 46 Da. It is noteworthy that the elimination of H(2)O (18 Da) from the cleavage of the dihydrofuran ring is reported for the first time. For the linear dihydrofurochromones, characteristic eliminations of 18, 48 and 72 Da were observed. The loss of 18 Da could arise from two different fragmentation pathways, and the observed ion was composed of a mixture of two different structural ions. For the linear dihydropyranochromones, it was found that the dihydropyran ring was converted into the pyran ring by the elimination of the C-3' substituting group. This fragmentation was followed by the diagnostic losses of 18, 28, 42 and 54 Da in tandem mass spectrometry. The above fragmentation rules were successfully applied for the analysis of the chemical constituents of the roots of Saposhnikovia divaricata. A total of 32 compounds were identified or tentatively characterized by HPLC/DAD/ESI-MS(n). Among them, eight compounds were new and seven compounds were reported from that genus for the first time.
