Abstract:In order to improve the speed and power consumption of the binary multiplier,this paper present a high-quality 33×28 binary multiplier with modified radix-4 Booth encoding and improved partial product circuits in partial product generator and a 7∶3 compressor in partial product compression module.Compared with the multiplier created by Synopsys′ module compiler,the speed of proposed partial product generator has improved 34%,the time of compressor has reduced about one 3∶2 compressor′s delay by combining 7∶3 compressors with other compressors and the total delay of proposed multiplier has improved 17.7% at 0.9 V on a TSMC 90 nm process technology.

Abstract:To solve data hazards in vector dot product operations of float point unit, a low-latency and single-cycle accumulator architecture is used in the 7-stage pipelined configurable multiply-accumulator design. It is compatible with double-precision floating point, dual single-precision floating point and 32 bit signed integer operands. Fused multiply-add operations and continuous multiply-accumulation operations are supported. In addition, energy control is achieved using operand isolation and clock gating. Implementation result on Viterx-4 shows that the accumulator architecture has high performance, low latency and single-cycle throughput, the area and time product is 30%less than which is designed by using Xilinx Float IPs.

Abstract:This paper presents a 32-bit vector multiply-accumulate (MAC) architecture capable of supporting multiple precisions. The vector MAC can perform one 32÷32, one 32÷16, two 16÷16, four 8÷8 bit signed/unsigned multiply-accumulate using Booth encoding algorithm and Wallace tree compressing. A reconfigurable Booth encoding array is implemented using 8÷8 Booth unit as the basic element, and longer bit modes are obtained by combining these elements selectively. This MAC unit can also perform multiply between scalar and vector operands. 32-bit SIMD (Single Instruction Multiple Date) extended ISA (Instruction Set Architecture) and 3-stage pipeline are implemented for the MAC unit. The design is synthesized in 0.13um SMIC technology under worst case condition, and the critical path of MAC is 2.5ns.

Abstract:A novel 32×32-b high-speed pipeline multiplier structure is designed.Taking advantages of the merits of redundant Booth encoding and modified Booth encoding,the novel Radix16 Booth algorithm of the structure can simply and quickly generate complicated multiples.The designed multiplier has only 9 partial products,which effectively reduces the size and delay of compression array.By optimizing the compression array and the 64-b CLA(carry-lookahead) adder in the critical path of pipeline,this multiplier can effectively reduce the delay and area,too.The field programmable gate array(FPGA) simulation shows that compared to the multiplier with Radix8 Booth algorithm,the speed of this multiplier is increased by 11% and its hardware resource is reduced by 3%.

Abstract:The structure of a low-power 16 bit by 8 bit two's complement multiplier unit in the design of a DSP (digital signal processor) chip was proposed based on standard cell. The multiplier used modified Booth's algorithm to generate the partial products, a Wallace tree structure to achieve the high-speed partial products addition, and finally, a high speed carry lookahead adder to finish the carry propagation. The delay of the carry propagation plays a very important role in the whole delay of the multiplier. To solve this problem, the LRCF (left-to-right-carry-free) algorithm was applied to complete the MSB (most significant bits) result calculation partially parallel with the Wallace tree addition. The power consumption distribution within this multiplier was analyzed and some methods were applied to reduce the switching activity of the Wallace tree structure to reduce the power consumption. Based on the UMC 0.18 μm CMOS technology standard cell library, the reports of Design Power showed that the multiplier can achieve the speed of 2.80 ns, an average dynamic power dissipation of 0.089 mW/MHz at 1.62 V and 125°C.

Abstract:A reconfigurable 64-bit multiply-accumulator(MAC) was presented.Depending on different computation mode,the MAC was capable of performing one 64×64,two 32×32,four 16×16 or eight 8×8 signed/unsigned multiply-accumulate operations.The MAC was "vectorized" by inserting mode-dependent selectors into partial product(pp) generation and inserting mode-dependent kills in carry chain of the final tree and final adder.In this work,insertion of kills into carry chain of the product reduction tree was avoided by relocating the partial product.Using low-power 4∶2 compressor in partial product tree,both power and area were reduced efficiently.Performances of the MAC,such as speed,power and area,were analyzed.

Abstract:While partial carry-save adders are easily designed by splitting them into several fragments working in parallel, the design of partial carry-save multipliers is more challenging. Prior approaches have proposed several solutions based on the radix-4 Booth recoding. This technique makes it possible to diminish the height of a multiplier by half, this being the most widespread option when designing multipliers, as only easy multiples are required. Larger radices provide further reductions at the expense of the appearance of hard multiples. Such is the case of radix-8 Booth multipliers, whose critical path is located at the generation of the $3X$ multiple. In order to mitigate this delay, in our prior works, we proposed to first decouple the $3X$ computation and introduce it in the dataflow graph, leveraging the available slack. Considering this, we then present a partial carry-save radix-8 Booth multiplier that receives three inputs in this format, namely, the multiplicand, the multiplier, and the $3X$ multiple. Moreover, the rest of the datapath is adapted to work in partial carry-save. In comparison with conventional radix-4 and radix-8 Booth-based datapaths, the proposal is able to diminish the execution time and energy consumption while benefits from the area reduction provided by the selection of radix 8. Furthermore, it outperforms prior state-of-the-art partial carry-save multipliers based on radix 4.

Abstract:The data movement between the processing and storage units has been one of the most critical issues in modern computer systems. The emerging Resistive Random Access Memory (RRAM) technology has drawn tremendous attention due to its non-volatile ability and the potential in computation application. These properties make them a perfect choice for application in modern computing systems. In this paper, an 8-bit radix-4 non-volatile parallel multiplier is proposed, with improved computational capabilities. The corresponding booth encoding scheme, read-out circuit, simplified Wallace tree, and Manchester carry chain are presented, which help to short the delay of the proposed multiplier. While the presence of RRAM save computational time and overall power as multiplicand is stored beforehand. The area of the proposed non-volatile multiplier is reduced with improved computing speed. The proposed multiplier has an area of 785.2 μm2 with Generic Processing Design Kit 45 nm process. The simulation results show that the proposed multiplier structure has a low computing power at 161.19 μW and a short delay of 0.83 ns with 1.2 V supply voltage. Comparative analyses are performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed multiplier design. Compared with conventional booth multipliers, the proposed multiplier structure reduces the energy and delay by more than 70% and 19%, respectively.
A Hybrid Multiplier Architecture Using Partially Redundant Booth Algorithm

Abstract:In the conventional hybrid Booth multiplier architecture, the reduction of the radix-8 partial products begins after the generation of three times the multiplicand has been performed by a wide bit widths adder in parallel with the reduction of the radix-4 partial products. Thus, the reduction process is not as time efficient. To solve this problem, we propose a novel hybrid multiplier architecture utilizing partially redundant radix-8 Booth encoding to generate three times the multiplicand. Experiments show that this novel hybrid multiplier architecture requires 2.8% smaller area and 4.2% less power with the almost same delay for a 64×64-bit multiplier as compared with a radix-4 implementation. The novel hybrid radix-4/radix-8 architecture is therefore a compromise between high speed and low power.

Abstract:This paper presents the implementation and design of Radix-8 booth Multiplier using 32-bit parallel prefix adders. High performance processors have a high demand in the industrial market. For achieving high performance and to enhance the computational speed multiplier plays a key role in performance of digital system. But the major drawback is it consumes more power , area and delay. To enhance the performance and decrease the area consumption and delay there are many algorithms and techniques. In this paper we designed a radix-8 Booth Multiplier using two parallel prefix adders and compared them for best optimized multiplier. The number of parital products generation can be reduced by n/3 by using radix-8 in the multiplier encoding. To further reduce the additions we have used booth recoding mechanism .We have implemented the design using Kogge stone adder and Brent kung adder. We observed that by using parallel prefix adders reduces the delay further more which results in significant increase in speed of the digital systems. The simulation results are carried out on XILINX VIVADO software.

Abstract:Because of the requirements for high speed and high precision in adders,redundant signed digit number adders are proposed.On account of weaknesses of traditional signed binary addition,this paper proposes an improved arithmetic and designs the addition circuit.It is with a simple and regular 3-stage structure,and its immediate carry and sum digits are both encoded with 1bit.Contrast to the traditional one,the improved circuit has higher speed and consumes less area and dynamic power.

Abstract:This paper presents an optimized architecture of a scalable radix-4 modular multiplier,based on radix-4 Montgomery multiplication algorithm and improved pipeline architecture.With the help of word-based modular multiplication algorithm,the proposed multiplier is able to work with any precision of the input operands.Adopting pipelined datapath with several processing elements,the multiplier can be easily adjusted to the available area or desired performance.The result shows that the proposed radix-4 modular multiplier is cost-effective in terms of area and performance.

There are many multipliers in existence in which Radix 8 Booth Encoding Multiplier offers a decrease in area and provides high speed due to its diminution in the number of partial products. This project is designed and simulated on Xilinx ISE 14.7 version software using VHDL (Very High Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description Language). Abstract:This paper proposes a modified multiple-word radix-2k Montgomery multiplication(MWR2kMM) algorithm with its corresponding VLSI architecture.With the adoption of MWR2kMM algorithm,the proposed multiplier is able to work with any precision of the input operands and has a shorter critical path.Meanwhile,its performance is much higher compared with previous work because of the optimization of the pipeline architecture.The proposed multiplier is very suitable to the low cost and high performance RSA cryptosystem and can be easily implemented in VLSI technology.
A Design and Implementation of Radix-4 Based Fast Multiplier on FPGA

Abstract:: Many advanced signal processing and image processing systems are being constructed on VLSI chips in which multiplication is the main operation, thanks to the recent rapid increase in the scale of integration. The compute capacity and power consumption of these systems determine their performance. In this paper, a simplified method for generating n/2 partial product rows with regular partial product arrays and negligible overhead is proposed, reducing partial product complexity. This paper uses a 32-bit fast multiplier to generate partial products using the Modified Booth-radix 4 algorithm, a CSA-based Wallace-Tree-like tree compress partial products, and a Carry look-ahead adder is used to perform final compression. This strategy was introduced in Verilog and simulated with Xilinx ISE 12.1 software before being implemented on the FPGA xc3s50-5pq208. When compared to a multiplier that employs a conventional carry select adder, simulation results show that the delay of both multipliers is reduced, as is the number of logic levels, with a slight increase in the number of slices and LUTS.

Abstract:New designs of Redundant Binary full Adders are proposed for redundant binary system, and implemented using 0.18 mu m CMOS technology. The proposed full adder designs require low number of transistors and show lower power dissipation and reduced time delay compared to currently available designs. These new designs can be widely used for computer arithmetic units in redundant binary systems. As case studies, two efficient on-line multipliers are implemented using the new full adders, providing improved performance while requiring lower number of transistors.

Abstract:Parallel multiplication schemes for VLSI have traditionally been chosen for their regular layout. Unfortunately, this has meant using algorithms which are not time-optimal. The authors present an 8×8 bit time-optimal multiplier using the Dadda scheme implemented as a seven-stage linear pipeline. The design uses automated layout techniques to avoid the problems associated with the irregularity of the scheme, and a 3 μm n-well CMOS process with two layers of metal. The use of multiple levels of metal reduces the delay associated with the interconnection between cells and also permits the over-routing of active circuitry. A new pipelined carry look-ahead adder is used for the final summation, and this provides a significant contribution to the performance of the multiplier. A set of cells was designed for the multiplier and some aspects of their design are discussed. In particular, a previously unreported Vdd overshoot problem in an existing exclusive-OR gate circuit is described and explained. The multiplier is expected to operate at a maximum clock frequency of at least 50 MHz

Abstract:This paper presents a high speed Radix-8 Log-MAP turbo decoder recursion architecture: algorithmic approximation and architectural optimization are incorporated in the proposed designs to reduce the critical path. The synthesis results show that the proposed design has a high throughput of 693 Mbps in 0.18 um CMOS technology, which is nearly 3 times higher than using conventional Radix-2 architecture. The hardware complexity is only linearly increased with the new design. The simulation with AWGN channel shows that the proposed design has generally less than 0.05 dB performance degradation from the true Log-MAP decoder. © 2008 IEEE.

Abstract:A Radix-8 Booth-encoded Montgomery modular multiplication algorithm is presented.Using this algorithm,iteration number is reduced to about 1/3 in each modular multiplication operation.Finally,we propose a 1024 Bits RSA E/Decryption architecture based on this algorithm applying the system level modeling methodology,and verified on FPGA.The speed of the proposed algorithm is approximately 2 times of the most RSA VLSI designs based on original Montgomery modular multiplication algorithm.

Abstract:Abstract: Electronic systems are widely used by humans nowadays in all aspects of daily life. Today, there is no living for humans on Earth without any electronic products. High Speed, Low Power, and Low Area Electronic Systems are what the current generation needs. In digital systems, a variety of arithmetic circuits are employed. Adder, multiplier, divider, and other arithmetic circuits are some examples. To acquire Products from Multiplier and Multiplicand, there are various multipliers with various methods. One of the multipliers is Radix-4 Multiplier. The Radix-4 Multiplier produces n/2 partial products, where n is the multiplier's bit count. This multiplier has a high operating speed, power dissipation, and surface area. Area, power dissipation, and propagation delay can all be reduced by reducing the number of partial products of the n-bit multiplier. Radix-8 uses n-bit multiplier integers that are n/3 for partial products. The Area, Delay, and Power Dissipation are reduced as a result. 8- bit booth multipliers for Radix-4 and Radix-8 are designed and implemented using FPGA. For both multipliers, delay, power dissipation, and area are compared. According to the comparison, Radix8 Booth Multiplier performs better than Radix-4 Booth Multiplier in terms of delay, power dissipation, and area. Therefore, the Radix-4 Booth Multiplier can be swapped out for the Radix-8 Booth Multiplier.
