Abstract:A pilot test was conducted to investigate the removal efficiency of ammonia nitrogen with pure oxygen aeration and activated anthracite filter. The results showed that the activated anthracite filter could meet the biomass requirement after a rise in influent ammonia nitrogen from 0.8-1.0 mg/L to 1.7 mg/L,2.5 mg/L or 3.0 mg/L,provided that sufficient dissolved oxygen for nitrification was available. The ammonia nitrogen was effectively removed within 0.5 to 1 h,and its concentration in the filter effluent was reduced to 0.05 mg/L,0.08 mg/L and 0.21 mg/L,respectively after 12 h.The system was continuously operated for 10 d at influent ammonia nitrogen of 2.8 to 3.3 mg/L and dissolved oxygen of 13.7 to 14.0 mg/L.No nitrite nitrogen accumulation was observed in the filter effluent after 24 h,and the ammonia nitrogen concentration was stabilized at 0.04 to 0.08 mg/L.Using micro-nano aerator as the pure oxygen aeration device, the increased operating cost was 0.017 to 0.021 yuan/m3 to remove 2.5 to 3.0 mg/L of ammonia nitrogen.
