Abstract:Median control input,dead volume and leakage flow rate were identified for obtaining precise model parameters of pneumatic servo system. According to the physical phenomenon that the stable pressure values of port A and port B under the same control voltage would be different,the median control input of proportional directional valve could be obtained through minimizing the offset value of two stable pressure ratio curves. According to the physical phenomenon that the pressure responses of port A would be different but the stable pressure values of port A are identical when the pneumatic cylinder is fixed at two ends,the dead volume of rodless pneumatic cylinder could be obtained through equal leakage mass flow rate when equalizing pressure. In order to describe the steep mass flow rate just before the valve port was open and eliminate the noncontinuity between the flow rate equations of leakage and valve orifice,the leakage flow rate was transformed into the leakage throttling area that was fitted by a rational expression. The experimental results indicated that the model uncertainties are reduced,the control accuracy of the adaptive robust controller is improved,and the control input is very smooth through the identification of characteristic parameters and structure parameters.
Design and Speed Control for Closed-loop Electro-hydraulic Proportional Servo Injection Machine System

Abstract:In order to meet the high-precision request of plastic products,reduce costs and energy lost of the injection molding machine,this paper studied injection molding system of closed-loop control system controlled by a servo proportional valve,established the nonlinear model considering the valve flow-pressure nonlinear,injection cylinder volume changing and the polymer melting flow characteristics,provided fuzzy PID control method fitting the system.With the Matlab/Simulink platform,established a simulate model.The result proved the feasibility and effectiveness of the closed-loop control system and control method,compared to the conventional PID control,this control strategy significantly reduced the static error of the system,greatly improved the tracking results of the injection speed,and effectively helped to improve products' repeat precision.

Abstract:Spool valve orifice flow characteristic of servo valve plays an important role in the spool valve overlap measurement and manufacturing quality analysis of servo valve. The liner segment of flow characteristic curve could be used to calculate the overlap, and the non-linear segment could be used to evaluate the manufacturing quality of servo valve. This paper analyzed the valve orifice characteristic measurement based on the pneumatic flow method in detail, developed an automatic pneumatic measurement apparatus for valve orifice characteristic and spool valve overlap based on the thermal mass flow sensor AWM2300, verified the measurement accuracy and non-repeated error of this apparatus, and adopted the overlap as investigated object to contrast the measurement results by pneumatic flow method with by pneumatic pressure method. The non-repeated error of overlap measurement by pneumatic flow method did not exceed ±0.5(m, and the experimental results indicated that the automatic pneumatic flow measurement can excellently satisfy the actual requirement in the production of servo valve.

Abstract:Spool valve is the power stage of servo valve. The axial dimension error of spool valve orifice edge is one of the most important influencing factors to servo valve flow characteristic. Spool valve is composed of spool and sleeve, and an orifice is formed by square orifice edge of valve sleeve and shoulder edge of valve spool. Due to the cylindrical structure, the axial runout could be called as the axial dimension error. Because of lacking in precision detective method in actual production process, the axial runout is usually neglected. In this paper, a method based on differential pressure pneumatic measurement is proposed and utilized in the measurement of orifice edge axial runout. Based on this non-contact method an automotive measure device is developed. The method is of high accuracy and resolution. It is a new automatic process detective method for servo valve.

Abstract:This paper introduces an automatic measurement technology of electro-hydraulic servo valve nozzle volume. Since there are several disadvantages of manual measurement in workplace, develops a new kind of intelligent volume test platform which can adjust pressure and record data automatically under constant oil temperature and match through computer. The outcome of the nozzle match experiment in the end satisfies the operating requirements.

Abstract:A high-speed on/off valve with large flow rate,employing a pilot high-speed on/off solenoid valve to actuate a large diameter main valve,was developed for measuring the liquid level in a well.A new method which used the pressure variation characteristic in the control chamber during the charging-discharging processes to de-cribe the dynamic characteristics of the valve was proposed.A detailed mathematical model based on the therm-odynamics,kinetics,pneumatic transmission and some other theories was established.A experimental system was built up to verify the simulation result.Some factors having influences on the dynamic characteristics of the valve,such as the orifice diameter and the control chamber volume,were analyzed and optimized.The agreeme-nt between the experimental data and the simulation results verified the effectiveness of the mathematical models and the experimental system.Results also shows that increasing the control chamber volume would reduce the vibration amplitude,but the opening time of the valve would be prolonged.When the diameter ratio of the orific-e and the pilot valve is within the range of 0.13 ~ 0.27,the valve performs good response characteristics.The valve developed solves the contradiction of high speed and large flow rate.
Design and Characteristics Analysis of a High Precision Pneumatic Proportional Pressure Valve

Abstract:A high precision pneumatic proportional pressure valve was designed. The plunger-type structure with two-stage poppet was adopted for the valve. A proportional electromagnetic actuator was used as control component and the control method was electric closed-loop feedback. The output pressure can be adjusted continuously within 0.6MPa absolute with the steady-state precision of less than 0.25kPa. A completely nonlinear dynamic model was developed to analyze the effects of main physical and geometrical parameters on the valve's dynamic behavior and control performance. A self-adaptive fuzzy proportional plus integral controller with adjusting output scaling factor was designed for high precision and quickly control of different pressure target values, and carried out based on single chip-microcomputer ATmega16. Experimental results indicated that the valve has a good performance in pressure and flow characteristics under the designed pressure. Compared to traditional PI controller, the proposed fuzzy algorithm can improve the response and control stability of the system as well as the steady-tate precision drastically, which has better efficiency and robustness.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to investigate the fluid dynamic behavior of a pneumatic pressure measurement method for the machining quality of servo-valve spool valves. By adopting a CFD technique, the numerical simulations of an ideal metering edge and a metering edge with round corner (fillet) of spool valve orifices are carried out respectively. Valve spool fillet is one of the major influencing factors for metering edge's pressure characteristic and nonlinearity of linearized characteristic curve Y-xv. The nozzle-flapper mechanism and the corresponding fixture are developed to replace ideal valve spool and sleeve. Finally, a pneumatic measuring experiment is performed to confirm and explain the simulation results.

Abstract:A high pressure electronic pneumatic pressure reducing valve, consisted of a two-position three-port pilot valve controlled by electromagnet and a piston type main valve, was proposed. The valve used a pressure sensor and a controller to constitute the closed-loop feedback. By consuming a little gas in the pilot valve, rapidity and stability of pressure regulation were preserved, the influences of pilot leakage on the valve and unexpected icing in pilot valve could be avoided. Then the characteristics were analyzed based on the structure and working principle of the valve, finally the simulation model including the vibration of gas supply pressure and load flow rate was built up with AMESim. Simulation results showed that steady pressure reduction could be achieved under the condition of gas supply pressure slowly reducing and load flow rate fluctuating in a big range. When gas supply pressure is 31.5MPa, the output pressure could be steady in 1~30 MPa without adjusting the controller parameters; the influences of machining errors on the valve were also simulated, the results showed that under-lap of pilot spool should be avoided to reduce gas consuming and 10 μm is a suitable choice for the height of annular clearance.

Abstract:A direct drive type three-port pneumatic pressure valve, consisting of a proportional solenoid and a poppet assembly, was developed to fulfill the application requirement of electro-pneumatic servo system. A nonlinear lumped parameter model of the proportional solenoid, whose parameters were obtained by FEM analysis, was created to describe the complex magnetic characteristics. The movements of poppet assembly, pneumatic and thermodynamic properties in the valve were analyzed by taking account of physical effects of mechanical and pneumatic subsystem separately, and independence of the movements between poppet assemblies is allowed. The influence of poppet viscous friction coefficient, feedback pass diameter and air supply pressure was studied. A special test system was designed to verify the proposed model. Good comparison results between experiment and simulation are obtained, and the model can be used to predict valve's transient pressure response under different step input signals.
Study On A New Measuring Method For Axial Jitter Of Valve Orifice Working Edges

Abstract:For measuring the axial jitter which is one of the important geometric precision indexes of valve orifice working edges of electro-hydraulic servo valve, this paper presents a pneumatic measuring method based on postposition throttle nozzle transformation spout-cover mechanism, named pneumatic narrow gap scanning measuring method. Utilizing pressure pneumatic measuring principle, this paper linearizes the characteristic equation for improving the measurement accuracy and extending the measurement range. A pneumatic narrow gap scanning measuring instrument is developed and some experiments are carried on by this instrument. The experimental datum proves that this measuring method is fitted for measuring the axial jitter of valve orifice working edges of servo valve's slide valve, which are hard to be measured by conventional measuring methods, and this method can achieve non-contact high accuracy measurement.

Abstract:In this paper, a detailed model was developed for a rodless pneumatic cylinder controlled by a proportional directional control valve. The dynamic of the valve spool was firstly investigated and an equation was introduced to describe the mass flow through the valve's variable orifice. The thermodynamics in cylinder chambers was carefully considered and the heat transfer coefficient between the air in the chamber and the inside of the barrel was identified experimentally. In addition, the friction force of the pneumatic cylinder seals was described using the LuGre model, and several experiments were conducted to estimate the friction parameters. The proposed system model was validated by comparing experimental and simulated open loop step input responses, and can be used to develop a controller for high accuracy positioning.

Abstract:Nozzle is the key part of a twin nozzle-flapper valve which is the pilot stage of a servo valve.There must be strict fluid performances symmetry of the nozzle pair in a twin nozzle-flapper valve.So a pressure-flow measuring is required for a batch of nozzles,and the paired nozzles could be selected according the measuring results,this method is called pairing measurement.In order to substitute the traditional manual pairing measurement,an automatic flowrate pairing measuring technology and system research are done,a nozzle differential pressure-flow pairing theory is expounded,and a new nozzle automatic flowrate-pairing measuring system is established,the system is made up of industrial computer system,instrument box,hydraulic manifold block,oil source system,measuring software and fixture,a constant flow pump and electro-hydraulic proportional relief valve are utilized for differential pressure control.The measuring software of the system is introduced,based on SQL Server and ADO interface a database of measuring results is established,and a sort-based paring algorithm is utilized for realizing the automatic paired nozzles selecting.Finally,a precision validation experiment research is done.
Study on Pneumatic Measurement Method and System for Throttling Edge Coplanarity Error of Valve Sleeve

Abstract:The function edges of valve sleeve throttling orifice are required to have high precision coplanarity, and the coplanarity error is generally not allowed to exceed 0.002 mm in servo valve production process. The traditional measurement is only an approximately measuring method, whose automation level and measuring accuracy is too low to satisfy actual requirement. A new measurement method is put forward based on pneumatic measuring principle of differential pressure approach, and the automatic measuring system is developed according to the proposed method, which realizes non-contact and high accuracy measurement for throttling edge coplanarity error. The linear range of measuring system is determined by system calibration experiments and least square linear fitting method, and the actual measuring experiments for four groups of throttling edge are carried out. Experiment and analysis results show that the measuring error does not exceed 0.0005 mm and the pneumatic measuring method satisfies absolutely the measurement requirement of high precision for throttling edge coplanarity error.

Abstract:The measurement of spool valve overlap value of a servo valve is a key processing technique of servo valve manufacturing. This paper introduced the main method of overlap value measurement,including indirect measurement,pneumatic general measurement and hydraulic general measurement. The principles and mathematic models of these methods were presented,and the merits,the demerits,and the application methods were analyzed. For the changing of discharge coefficient may decrease the precision of general hydraulic measurement,a compensation method based on the orifice flow pattern was proposed,which could increase the measurement precision of overlap value.

Abstract:Ultrasonic vibration has good prospects in precision assembly. In recently, the press-fitting of nozzle in the servo valve still needs manual operation. There are many disadvantages such as low success rate, low efficiency, big workload and so on needed to be removed urgently. So we design the ultrasound-assisted press-fit system for that and analyze the system performance. Through theoretical analysis and ultrasonic vibration experiments, auxiliary press-fit system with ultrasonic device has been made. We obtain a lot of data using the facility. We find that ultrasonic vibration with rational parameters can improve the effect of press-fit largely.
Automatic pairing measurement of servo valve nozzles and experimental research

Abstract:The twin nozzle-flapper valve of symmetric structure is the pilot stage of servo valve. Nozzles are the key parts of a twin nozzle-flapper valve. A pair of nozzles fixed in a twin nozzle-flapper valve is called paired nozzles which has strictly consistent fluid performances. Fluid performances are influenced by the shape and size of the round throttle orifices on the head of the nozzles. It is so difficult to ensure the consistencies of fluid performances only by machining, that there should be a hydraulic testing experiment to select the performances-closest nozzles from one batch of machined nozzles to compose paired nozzles separately, and the testing method is called pairing measurement. This paper proposed a measuring method based on differential pressure-flow measuring and pressure measuring. This paper also proposed a sort-based paring algorithm according to the differential pressure-flow feature of nozzles, and the paired success ratio can be increased by the algorithm. Experimental research has been done on the SPCT-II servo valve nozzle flow testing system which is developed by ourselves and the results had proved the correctness of the measuring method and the proposed sort-based paring algorithm.

Abstract:Electro-hydraulic servo valve, which is a key component of electro-hydraulic servo control system to control the hydraulic actuator, connects the electric part and hydraulic part of the system. Both nozzles and orifice parts are important parts of the servo valve, and the flow characteristics measured under differential pressure is directly related to the performance of the servo valve. Because the size of the nozzle is very small, it is difficult to measure directly. Usually, nozzles are measured by their flow characteristics. Double nozzle flapper valve is of symmetrical structure, and in one valve it needs a pair nozzles of the same performance The process of nozzles matched in pairs is called pairing process. Based on the study of pressure-flow rate characteristic, we propose an automatic paring algorithm which can meet the needs of the symmetry structure requirements of valves, considering the characteristics of the servo valve nozzle pressure-flow testing measurement. Not only can we match nozzles efficiently, but also to achieve optimal matching process and result.

Abstract:The inner hole of a spool valve is a slender hole required to have high precision form, and the form error is generally not allowed to exceed 1 mu m in servo valve production. Aiming at ultra-precision measurement for the spool valve inner hole in situ, this paper proposes a novel non-contact measurement method based on the differential pressure pneumatic measuring principle and develops a form error pneumatic gauge system for the spool valve inner hole. The pneumatic measuring circuit, gauge head and precise driving mechanism have been designed. The factors that influence the accuracy of the pneumatic gauge system have been thoroughly analyzed and tested to evaluate the measuring uncertainty. The system calibration and measurement experiments have been carried out. Results show that the measuring error does not exceed 0.3 mu m, which can be further improved by the error separation and compensation technique. (C) 2012 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
