Implicit Influences of International Trade on Income Distribution in China:An Empirical Study Based on Industry Factor Returns

Abstract:With the rapid development of international trade in recent years,huge trade volume has promoted the transnational or transregional mobility of production factors,thus has exerted inevitable influences on income distribution.Based on translog cost model and panel GLS regression analysis,the paper analyzes implicit influences of international trade on income distribution in China by studying influences of foreign trade on wages of 34 industries from 1997 to 2009.Contrary to theoretical predictions,the results show that the development of trade hasn't increased the relative demand for labor and raise wage income share;the applicability of SS Theorem is to be verified in China.The paper attempts to search for ways to raise income share from the perspective of factor market distortions,and provides a certain degree of empirical basis for our trade policy adjustments.
