Abstract:This paper is concerned with the problem of robust generalized guaranteed cost control with D-stability and multiple output constraints for a class of linear uncertain systems. Being a combination of output performance indices, a generalized cost function is considered to the linear polytopic uncertain systems described in a unified framework. The aim is to design a state feedback controller, such that the closed-loop system is robust D-stable, and the upper bound of the generalized cost function is as small as possible subject to multiple output constraints. Based on parameter-dependent Lyapunov functions, convex conditions for the existence of such controllers are presented in terms of linear matrix inequality. The proposed approach shows a unified treatment of the linear systems in the differential, shift, and delta domains. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the design method.

Abstract:This paper proposes a generic approach based on genetic algorithms to solve the multi-objective optimal control problems in hybrid dynamic systems. A case study based on the control problem of a multi-tank blending system illustrates that this approach deals effectively with such kind of complicated problems which could not be solved in classical optimal control theories.

Abstract:We consider a generalized multi-hop MIMO amplify-and-forward (AF) relay network with multiple sources/destinations and arbitrarily number of relays. We establish two dualities and the corresponding dual transformations between such a network and its dual, respectively, under single-network linear constraint and per-hop linear constraint. A unified optimization framework is proposed to find a stationary point for an important class of nonconvex optimization problems of AF relay networks based on a local Lagrange dual method, where the primal algorithm only finds a stationary point for the inner loop problem of maximizing the Lagrangian w.r.t. the primal variables. The input covariance matrices are shown to satisfy a polite water-filling structure at a stationary point of the inner loop problem. The duality and polite water-filling are exploited to design fast primal algorithms. Compared with the existing algorithms, the proposed optimization framework with duality-based primal algorithms can be used to solve more general problems with lower computation cost.

Abstract:This paper deals with various duality results for a new class of constrained robust nonlinear control problems. Concretely, we introduce a minimisation problem associated with a vector of functionals of multiple integral type. In addition, the considered multi-objective controlled optimisation problem is governed by several mixed constraints generated by partial derivatives of second order and uncertain data. For this new class of control problems, we establish and characterise Wolfe, Mond-Weir and mixed type robust dual models. To this aim, by using the notion of convex multiple integral functional , generated by a controlled second-order Lagrangian with uncertain data, and the concept of robust weak efficient solution to the problem under study, we build a new mathematical context to state and prove the duality theorems.

Abstract:A new multi-objective robust control design approach was proposed to reduce conservativeness that generally exists in optimal controller design. It extended the standard generalized-l_2 (Gl_2) control problem based on a new stability condition to a set of new linear matrix inequality (LMI) constraints. As a result the multi-objective robust control problem associated with robust stability and robust performance objectives was less conservative when it was solved using computationally tractable algorithms. A comparison of simulation results with controllers designed by different techniques demonstrates the superiority of the method in improving the performance of robustness, integral of squared error and integral of time multiplied with squared error.

Abstract:The Mond–Weir type duality for a class of nonsmooth nonconvex fractional semi-infinite programming are studied. Under the generalized $\rho$- univexity hypotheses, some weak and strong duality theorems are established, which provide a measurement of sensitivity for given problems to perturbations. The results can be applied to fractional program problems arising from portfolio selection, agricultural panning, information transfer, cargo-loading problems, stochastic processes and numerical analysis, etc.

Abstract:Multiobjective programming refers to a mathematical problem that requires the simultaneous optimization of multiple independent yet interrelated objective functions when solving a problem. It is widely used in various fields, such as engineering design, financial investment, environmental planning, and transportation planning. Research on the theory and application of convex functions and their generalized convexity in multiobjective programming helps us understand the essence of optimization problems, and promotes the development of optimization algorithms and theories. In this paper, we firstly introduces new classes of generalized (F,α,ρ,d)−I functions for semi-preinvariant convex multiobjective programming. Secondly, based on these generalized functions, we derive several sufficient optimality conditions for a feasible solution to be an efficient or weakly efficient solution. Finally, we prove weak duality theorems for mixed-type duality.

Abstract:The article focuses on a semi-infinite optimization model with a disjunctive structure of the constraints. Salient examples of such problems are semi-infinite programming problems with equilibrium or vanishing constraints. In the article, first, we state a constraint qualification for a multiobjective interval-valued semi-infinite optimization program having vanishing constraints. Then, necessary and sufficient optimality conditions for the optimization model are developed. Further, Wolfe's and Mond–Weir type dual models are formulated for the considered semi-infinite optimization problem, and weak, strong and converse duality results are established under convexity assumptions. A case study of the industrial sector for the waste management is presented which demonstrates the advantages of the Wolfe type dual model and the corresponding duality results. Additionally, numerical examples have been displayed at the appropriate places to support the results.

Abstract:The general discrete-time Single-Input Single-Output (SISO) mixed H 2 / l 1 control problem is considered in this paper. It is found that the existing results of duality theory cannot be directly applied to this infinite dimension optimisation problem. By means of two finite dimension approximate problems, to which duality theory can be applied, the dual of the mixed H 2 / l 1 control problem is verified to be the limit of the duals of these two approximate problems.

Abstract:This paper proposes a new approach for multi-objective robust control. The approach extends the standard generalized l 2 (G l 2 ) and generalized H 2 (G H 2 ) conditions to a set of new linear matrix inequality (LMI) constraints based on a new stability condition. A technique for variable parameterization is introduced to the multi-objective control problem to preserve the linearity of the synthesis variables. Consequently, the multi-channel multi-objective mixed G l 2 /G H 2 control problem can be solved less conservatively using computationally tractable algorithms developed in the paper.

Abstract:For linear multivariable discrete-time control systems, a new design approach to robust optimal controllers is developed in this paper. By presenting a new design concept to select row characteristic functions for a multi-variable system, a robust decomposition method is built up to guarantee the normalization of the closed-loop transfer function matrix. The H-infinity robust stability and the optimal time domain indices for the closed-loop system are then achieved simultaneously by utilizing the 1-infinity optimal control approach in its decoupling equivalent system. Finally, optimization and robustness of this digital controller are verified by an on-line application in a paper-making control system for three different indices of quantity and moisture.

Abstract:Multi-objective robust state-feedback controller synthesis problems for linear discrete-time uncertain systems are addressed. Based on parameter-dependent Lyapunov functions, the Gl2 and GH2 norm expressed in terms of LMI (Linear Matrix Inequality) characterizations are further generalized to cope with the robust analysis for convex polytopic uncertain system. Robust state-feedback controller synthesis conditions are also derived for this class of uncertain systems. Using the above results, multi-objective state-feedback controller synthesis procedures which involve the LMI optimization technique are developed and less conservative than the existing one. An illustrative example verified the validity of the approach.

Abstract:We prove a duality relation and an integration by parts formula for fractional operators with a general analytical kernel. Based on these basic results, we are able to prove a new Gronwall's inequality and continuity and differentiability of solutions of control differential equations. This allow us to obtain a weak version of Pontryagin's maximum principle. Moreover, our approach also allow us to consider mixed problems with both integer and fractional order operators and derive necessary optimality conditions for isoperimetric variational problems and other problems of the calculus of variations.
