Abstract:For an inequality system defined by an infinite family of proper convex functions (not necessarily lower semicontinuous), we introduce some new notions of constraint qualifications. Under the new constraint qualifications, we provide necessary and/or sufficient conditions for the KKT rules to hold. Similarly, we provide characterizations for constrained minimization problems to have total Lagrangian dualities. Several known results in the conic programming problem are extended and improved.

Abstract:We revisit optimization theory involving set functions which are defined on a family of measurable subsets in a measure space. In this paper, we focus on a minimax fractional programming problem with subdifferentiable set functions. Using nonparametric necessary optimality conditions, we introduce generalized $(\mathcal{F},\rho, \theta)$-convexity to establish several sufficient optimality conditions for a minimax programming problem, and construct a new dual model to unify the Wolfe type dual and the Mond-Weir type dual as special cases of this dual programming problem. Finally we establish a weak, strong, and strict converse duality theorem.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish some quotient calculus rules in terms of contingent derivatives for the two extended-real-valued functions defined on a Banach space and study a nonsmooth multiobjective fractional programming problem with set, generalized inequality and equality constraints. We define a new parametric problem associated with these problem and introduce some concepts for the (local) weak minimizers to such problems. Some primal and dual necessary optimality conditions in terms of contingent derivatives for the local weak minimizers are provided. Under suitable assumptions, sufficient optimality conditions for the local weak minimizers which are very close to necessary optimality conditions are obtained. An application of the result for establishing three parametric, Mond–Weir and Wolfe dual problems and several various duality theorems for the same is presented. Some examples are also given for our findings.

Abstract:The paper introduces several new concepts for solving nonconvex or nonsmooth optimization problems, including convertible nonconvex function, exact convertible nonconvex function and differentiable convertible nonconvex function. It is proved herein many nonconvex functions or nonsmooth (or discontinuous) functions are actually convertible nonconvex functions and convertible nonconvex function operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication or division result in convertible nonconvex functions. The sufficient condition for judging a global optimal solution to unconstrained optimization problems with differentiable convertible nonconvex functions is proved, which is equivalent to Karush-Kuhn-Tucker(KKT) condition. Two Lagrange functions of differentiable convertible nonconvex function are defined with their dual problems defined accordingly. The strong duality theorem is proved, showing that the optimal objective value of the global optimal solution is equal to the optimal objective value of the dual problem, which is equivalent to KKT condition. An augmented Lagrangian penalty function algorithm is proposed and its convergence is proved. So the paper provides a new idea for solving unconstrained nonconvex or non-smooth optimization problems and avoids subdifferentiation or smoothing techniques by using some gradient search algorithms, such as gradient descent algorithm, Newton algorithm and so on.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to the study of optimality to a nonsmooth vector equilibrium problem with set, cone and equality constraints. Using a new approach for the Karush–Kuhn–Tucker-type efficiency condition to such problem, we introduce the constraint qualification of the (CQ1) and (CQ2) types via Clarke's subdifferentials and Michel–Penot's subdifferentials. We next provide, by using these subdifferentials, some Karush–Kuhn–Tucker (KKT for short) type necessary optimality conditions for efficiency to such problem. Under suitable assumptions on the generalized quasiconvexity/the -convexity, some KKT-type necessary optimality conditions become sufficient optimality conditions. Additionally, we provide some KKT-type necessary and sufficient optimality conditions for an efficient solution which does not require that the ordering cone in the objective space has a nonempty interior to those problems. Some illustrative examples are also proposed for our findings.

Abstract:In this paper, we give primal and dual Kuhn-Tucker necessary conditions for the existence of a strict local minimum of order two for vector optimization problems with equality and inequality constraints under some new regularity conditions. First, we improve the existing primal necessary conditions for such minima. Then, we apply an alternative theorem to derive dual Kuhn-Tucker necessary conditions of second and higher-order. To compare our results to the ones in the literature, we provide some examples.

Extensions of known results to more general settings are presented, and applications to particular important problems, such as conic programming and approximation theory, are also studied.

Abstract:In this paper, we extend the concepts of linearizing cone, regularity assumption and Lagrange multiplier rule due to Maurer and Zowe [H. Maurer, J. Zowe, First and second-order necessary and sufficient optimality conditions for infinite-dimensional programming problems, Math. Program. 16 (1979) 98–110] to an optimization problem under inclusion constraints. By virtue of the Robinson–Ursescu open mapping theorem, we obtain a Kuhn–Tucker necessary optimality condition. Moreover, we propose a Lagrangian by using the support function for set-valued maps, and establish some second-order sufficient and necessary optimality conditions for a strict local minimizer of order 2 based on the second-order derivative of the Lagrangian. As applications, we also investigate some second-order optimality conditions for the strict local minimizer of order 2 of a smooth scalar optimization problem with equality and inequality constraints.

Abstract:For an inequality system defined by an infinite family of proper lower semicontinuous convex functions in normed linear space, we consider the Farkas-Minkowski (FM for short) type qualification and the basic constraint qualification (BCQ for short). By employing a new approach based on some new results established here on the SECQ (sum of epigraphs constraint qualification) for families of closed convex sets, some sufficient conditions involving further relaxing Slater type conditions for ensuring the FM qualification are provided. As applications, new sufficient conditions for ensuring the BCQ are given. These results significantly improve the corresponding ones in [C. Li and K. F. Ng, SIAM T. Optim., 15 (2005), pp. 488-512] and [C. Li, X. P. Zhao, and Y. H. Hu, SIAM J. Optim., 23 (2013), pp. 2208-2230], and they are obtained without the key continuity assumption on the sup-function of the inequality system which the previous works depend heavily on. Some examples are also presented to illustrate the applicability of our results.

Abstract:The well-known Farkas-Minkowski (FM) type qualification plays an important role in linear semi-infinite programming and has been extensively developed by many authors in establishing optimality conditions, duality, and stability for semi-infinite programming. In this paper, we introduce the concept of the quasi-Slater condition for a semi-infinite convex inequality system and present that the Slater type conditions imply the FM qualification under some appropriate continuity assumption of the set-valued mapping i bar right arrow f(i)(x). Applying these relationships, we establish dual characterizations, both asymptotic and nonasymptotic, for set containment problems and provide some sufficient conditions for ensuring the strong Lagrangian duality and Farkas lemma.
A new problem qualification based on approximate KKT conditions for Lipschitzian optimization with application to bilevel programming

Abstract:When dealing with general Lipschitzian optimization problems, there are many problem classes where standard constraint qualifications fail at local minimizers. In contrast to a constraint qualification, a problem qualification does not only rely on the constraints but also on the objective function to guarantee that a local minimizer is a Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) point. For example, calmness in the sense of Clarke is a problem qualification. In this article, we introduce the Subset Mangasarian-Fromovitz Condition (subMFC). This new problem qualification is based on a nonsmooth version of the approximate KKT conditions, which hold at every local minimizer without further assumptions. A comparison with existing constraint qualifications and problem qualifications for the given problem class reveals that subMFC is strictly weaker than quasinormality and can hold even if the local error bound condition, the cone-continuity property, Guignard's constraint qualification and calmness in the sense of Clarke are violated. Further, we emphasize the power of the new problem qualification within the context of bilevel optimization. More precisely, under mild assumptions on the problem data, we suggest a version of subMFC that is tailored to the lower-level value function reformulation. It turns out that this new condition can be satisfied even if the widely used partial calmness condition does not hold.

Abstract:In this paper, the notions of subgradient, subdifferential, and differential with respect to convex fuzzy mappings are investigated, which provides the basis for the fuzzy extremum problem theory. We consider the problems of minimizing or maximizing a convex fuzzy mapping over a convex set and develop the necessary and/or sufficient optimality conditions. Furthermore, the concept of saddle-points and minimax theorems under fuzzy environment is discussed. The results obtained are used to formulate the Lagrangian dual of fuzzy programming. Under certain fuzzy convexity assumptions, KKT conditions for fuzzy programming are derived, and the “perturbed” convex fuzzy programming is considered. Finally, these results are applied to fuzzy linear programming and fuzzy quadratic programming.
