Abstract:The Faber–Krahn inequality is related to the smallest nonzero eigenvalue of the Laplacian operator with Dirichlet boundary condition on a bounded domain in ℝ n . In this article, we investigate some properties of the first Dirichlet eigenvalue of unicyclic graphs. These results are used to show that the Faber–Krahn type inequality also holds for unicyclic graphs with a given graphic unicyclic degree sequence with minor conditions.

Abstract:We derive interior curvature bounds for admissible solutions of a class of curvature equations subject to affine Dirichlet data, generalizing a well-known estimate of Pogorelov for equations of Monge-Ampere type. For equations for which convexity of the solution is the natural ellipticity assumption, the curvature bound is proved for solutions with C-1,C-1 Dirichlet data. We also use the curvature bounds to improve and extend various existence results for the Dirichlet and Plateau problems.

Abstract:In this paper, we have investigated some properties of the first Dirichlet eigen-value of a bicyclic graph with boundary condition. These results can be used to characterize the extremal bicyclic graphs with the smallest first Dirichlet eigenvalue among all the bicyclic graphs with a given graphic bicyclic degree sequence with minor conditions. Moreover, the extremal bicyclic graphs with the smallest first Dirichlet eigenvalue among all the bicycle graphs with fixed k interior vertices of degree at least 3 are obtained.

Abstract:The Faber-Krahn inequality states that the first Dirichlet eigenvalue among all bounded domains is no less than a Euclidean ball with the same volume in $\mathbb{R}^n$ \cite{Chavel FB}. Bıyıkoğlu and Leydold (J. Comb. Theory, Ser. B., 2007) demonstrated that the Faber-Krahn inequality also holds for the class of trees with boundary with the same degree sequence and characterized the unique extremal tree. Bıyıkoğlu and Leydold (2007) also posed a question as follows: Give a characterization of all graphs in a given class $\mathcal{C}$ with the Faber-Krahn property. In this paper, we address this question specifically for $k$-uniform supertrees with boundary. We introduce a spiral-like ordering (SLO-ordering) of vertices for supertrees, an extension of the SLO-ordering for trees initially proposed by Pruss [ Duke Math. J., 1998], and prove that the SLO-supertree has the Faber-Krahn property among all supertrees with a given degree sequence. Furthermore, among degree sequences that have a minimum degree $d$ for interior vertices, the SLO-supertree with degree sequence $(d,\ldots,d, d', 1, \dots, 1)$ possesses the Faber-Krahn property.

Abstract:The Faber-Krahn inequality states that among all open domains with a fixed volume in R^n, the ball minimizes the first Dirichlet eigenvalue of the Laplacian. We study an asymptotic discrete analogue of this for the combinatorial Dirichlet Laplacian acting on induced subgraphs of Z^2. Namely, an induced subgraph G with n vertices is called a minimizing subgraph if it minimizes the first eigenvalue of the combinatorial Dirichlet Laplacian among all induced subgraphs with n vertices. Consider an induced subgraph G and take the interior of the union of closed squares of area 1 about each point of G. Let G* denote this domain scaled down to have area 1. Our main theorem states that if {G_n} is a sequence of minimizing subgraphs where each G_n has n vertices, then after translation the measure of the symmetric difference of G_n* and the unit disk converges to 0.

Abstract:We prove universal inequalities for Laplacian eigenvalues with Dirichlet boundary conditions on subsets of certain discrete groups. The study of universal inequalities on Riemannian manifolds was initiated by Weyl, Polya, Yau, and others. Here we focus on a version by Cheng and Yang. Specifically, we prove Yang-type universal inequalities for Cayley graphs of finitely generated amenable groups, as well as for the d-regular tree (simple random walk on the free group).

Abstract:We investigate the equivalence of relative Faber-Krahn inequalities and the conjunction of Gaussian upper heat kernel bounds and volume doubling on large scales on graphs. For the normalizing measure, we obtain their equivalence up to constants by imposing comparability of small balls and the vertex degree at their centers. Removing this comparability assumption on the cost of a local regularity condition entering the equivalence and allowing for a variable dimension lead to a further generalization. The variable dimension converges to the doubling dimension for increasing ball radius. If the counting measure or arbitrary measures are considered, the local regularity condition contains the vertex degree. Furthermore, correction functions for the Gaussian, doubling, and Faber-Krahn dimension depending on the vertex degree are introduced. For the Gaussian and doubling, the variable correction functions always tend to one at infinity. Moreover, the variable Faber-Krahn dimension can be related to the doubling dimension and the vertex degree growth.

Abstract:In this paper, we derive Li-Yau inequality for unbounded Laplacian on complete weighted graphs with the assumption of the curvature dimension inequality CDE′(n,K), which can be regarded as a notion of curvature on graphs. Furthermore, we obtain some applications of Li-Yau inequality, including Harnack inequality, heat kernel bounds and Cheng's eigenvalue estimate. These are the first kind of results in this direction for unbounded Laplacian on graphs.

Abstract:In this paper, motivated by the work of Huang-Lin-Yau (Commun. Math. Phys. 2020), Sun-Wang (Adv. Math. 2022) and Li-Sun-Yang (Calc. Var. Partial Differential Equations 2024), we investigate the existence of Kazdan-Warner type equations on a finite connected graph, based on the theory of Brouwer degree. Specifically, we consider the equation \begin{equation*} -\Delta u=h(x)f(u)-c, \end{equation*} where $h$ is a real-valued function defined on the vertex set $V$, $c\in\mathbb{R}$ and \begin{equation*} f(u)= \left(1-\displaystyle\frac{1}{1+u^{2n}}\right)e^u \end{equation*} with $n\in \mathbb{N}^*$. Different from the previous studies, the main difficulty in this paper is to show that the corresponding equation has only three constant solutions, based on delicate analysis and the connectivity of graphs, which have not been extensively explored in previous literature.

Abstract:Abstract We prove a quantitative version of the Gaussian Faber–Krahn type inequality proved in (Betta et al. in Z. Angew. Math. Phys. 58:37–52, 2007) for the first Dirichlet eigenvalue of the Ornstein–Uhlenbeck operator, estimating the deficit in terms of the Gaussian Fraenkel asymmetry. As expected, the multiplicative constant only depends on the prescribed Gaussian measure.

Abstract:A study was conducted on the existence of solutions for a class of nonlinear Caputo type higher-order fractional Langevin equations with mixed boundary conditions on a star graph with $ k+1 $ nodes and $ k $ edges. By applying a variable transformation, a system of fractional differential equations with mixed boundary conditions and different domains was converted into an equivalent system with identical boundary conditions and domains. Subsequently, the existence and uniqueness of solutions were verified using Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorem and Banach's contraction principle. In addition, the stability results of different types of solutions for the system were further discussed. Finally, two examples are illustrated to reinforce the main study outcomes.

Abstract:In this note we study the eigenvalue growth of infinite graphs with discrete spectrum. We assume that the corresponding Dirichlet forms satisfy certain Sobolev-type inequalities and that the total measure is finite. In this sense, the associated operators on these graphs display similarities to elliptic operators on bounded domains in the continuum. Specifically, we prove lower bounds on the eigenvalue growth and show by examples that corresponding upper bounds can not be established.
