Characterization and Research Progress of Controlled Release Minitablet Dosage Forms

Abstract:The minitablets have some advantages such as the simpler manufacturing process and more uniform dosage size comparing to pellets,less toxicity and better reproducibility comparing to tablets,since minitablets are multiple-unit dosage form while tablets are single unit dosage form.Minitablets showed great application potential for the development of novel controlled release dosage forms.The recent research progress,novel applications and limitations of the controlled release minitablet dosage forms are reviewed in this article.
