Abstract:We introduce antishadowing into the Gribov-Levin-Ryskin evolution equation and restore the momentum sum rule. It is found clearly that antishadowing will modify the shadowing effect in the region 10(-4) < x < 10(-2) when a hot spot with small radius exists in the nucleon.

Abstract:Positivity constraints are derived on pion–nucleon scattering amplitudes and their even-order derivatives inside the Mandelstam triangle with the help of dispersion relations. Fairly interesting constraints are obtained on some of the low-energy constants, by a combination of the chiral perturbation theory for heavy baryons and existing fitting results from available pion–nucleon phase shifts at intermediate energies.

Abstract:By studying the nonperturbative contribution to the Dokshitzer-Gribov-Lipatov-Altarelli-Parisi and Gribov-Levin-Ryskin equation, it is found that (i) the nonperturbative contribution suppresses the evolution rate at the low $Q^2$, small-x region; (ii) the nonperturbative contribution weakens the shadowing effect. The method in this paper suggests a smooth transition from the low $Q^2$ ("soft"), where nonperturbative contribution dominates, to the large $Q^2$ ("hard") region, where the perturbative contribution dominates and the nonperturbative contribution can be neglected. Abstract:The parton evolution model is improved by using the modified Alteralli-Parisi equation which can describe the nuclear shadowing and antishadowing effects in the small x region. Within the theoretical framework of the improved parton evolution model. the unified description of the European Muon Collaboration (EMC) effect, and nuclear shadowing and antishadowing effects is given without introducing the nuclear shadowing factor.
A Pomeron Approach to Hadron-Nucleus and Nucleus-Nucleus "Soft" Interactions at High Energy

Abstract:We formulate a generalization of the Glauber formalism for hadron-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions based on the Pomeron approach to high energy interactions. Our treatment is based on two physical assumptions (i.e. two small parameters) : (i) that only sufficiently small distances contribute to the Pomeron structure; and (ii) the triple Pomeron vertex $G_{3P}/g_{P-N} \ll 1$ (where $g_{P-N}$ is the Pomeron-nucleon vertex) is small. A systematic method is developed for calculating the total, elastic and diffractive dissociation cross sections as well as the survival probability of large rapidity gap processes and inclusive observables, both for hadron - nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions. Our approach suggests saturation of the density of the produced hadrons in nucleus-nucleus collisions, the value of the saturation density turns out to be large and depends on the number of nucleons in the lightest nucleus.

Abstract:We study the interaction of two discrete pomeron fields while considering mass mixing and the general structure of the interaction potential for pomerons within the framework for a functional renormalization group analysis of Reggeon field theory. We find fixed points from the zeros of the beta function establishing the existence of three groups of solutions: the first corresponds to two uncoupled pomerons, the second is a solution known as a “pomeron–odderon” interaction, and the final is a real general solution with an interaction potential. We also study its universal properties around this fixed point. This analysis allows for a discussion for the first time on the mixing of two pomerons through renormalization flow paths from the ultraviolet to the non-perturbative infrared regions. Finally, we comment on its role in high-energy scattering.

Abstract:We explore the theoretical observation that within the leading twist approximation, the nuclear effects of shadowing and antishadowing in non-perturbative nuclear parton distribution functions (nPDFs) at the input QCD evolution scale involve diffraction on nucleons of a nuclear target and originate from merging of two parton ladders belonging to two different nucleons, which are close in the rapidity space. It allows us to propose that for a given momentum fraction $x_P$ carried by the diffractive exchange, nuclear shadowing and antishadowing should compensate each other in the momentum sum rule for nPDFs locally on the interval $\ln (x/x_P) \le 1$. We realize this by constructing an explicit model of nuclear gluon antishadowing, which has a wide support in $x$, $10^{-4} < x < 0.2$, peaks at $x=0.05-0.1$ at the level of $\approx 15$\% for $^{208}$Pb at $Q_0^2=4$ GeV$^2$ and rather insignificantly depends on details of the model. We also studied the impact parameter $b$ dependence of antishadowing and found it to be slow.

Can $1/N_c$ corrections be treated in the Pomeron calculus?

Abstract:The main goal of the paper is to show that we can treat the $1/N_c$ QCD corrections in the Pomeron calculus. We develop the one dimensional model which is a simplification of the QCD approach that includes $\pom \to 2 \pom$, $2 \pom \to \pom$ and $ 2 \pom \to 2 \pom$ vertices and gives the description of the high energy interaction, both in the framework of the parton cascade and in the Pomeron calculus. In this model we show that the scattering amplitude can be written as the sum of Green's function of $n$ Pomeron exchanges $G_{n \pom} \propto e^{ \omega_n \Y}$ with $\omega_n =\kappa\,n^2$ at $\kappa \ll 1$. This means that choosing $\kappa = 1/N^2_c$ we can reproduce the intercepts of QCD in $1/N_c$ order. The scattering amplitude is an asymptotic series that cannot be sum using Borel approach. We found a general way of summing such series. In addition to the positive eigenvalues we found the set of negative eigenvalues which corresponds to the partonic description of the scattering amplitude. Using Abramowsky, Gribov and Kancheli cutting rules we found the multiplicity distributions of the produced dipoles as well as their entropy $S_E$.

Scattering amplitude in QCD: summing large Pomeron loops

Abstract:In this paper we show that the sum of enhanced BFKL Pomeron loop diagrams generates the scattering amplitude, which turns out to be much smaller, than in the case of deep inelastic scattering. We use the simplified BFKL kernel in the leading twist approximation, which reproduces the main features of the scattering amplitude in the deep inelastic scattering(DIS). For such kernel the results are highly unexpected and they contradict (i) the solution to the Balitsky- Kovchegov(BK) equation for the scattering amplitude; (ii) the idea that the scattering amplitude stems from rare fluctuation and it has the same form as in DIS ; and (iii) the numerical simulations. We sincerely hope, that we made a mistake, which we failed to note, and which our reader will find. If not , we need to reconsider our view on the sum of the BFKL Pomeron loops and accept that their summing will lead to large contribution of the rare configurations in CGC approach to the scattering amplitude.

Suppression of diffraction in deep-inelastic scattering on nuclei and dynamical mechanism of leading twist nuclear shadowing

Abstract:Using the leading twist approach (LTA) to nuclear shadowing, we calculate the ratios of diffractive and usual parton distributions for a heavy nucleus (Pb) and the proton, $R_{A/p}=(f_{i/A}^{D(3)}/f_{i/A})/(f_{i/p}^{D(3)}/f_{i/p})$, for coherent and summed (coherent plus quasi-elastic) nuclear deep-inelastic scattering. We find that $R_{A/p} \approx 0.5-1$ for quarks as well as for the ratio of the diffractive and total cross sections $[(d\sigma_{\rm diff}/dM_X^2)/\sigma_{\rm tot}]_{eA}/[(d\sigma_{\rm diff}/dM_X^2)/\sigma_{\rm tot}]_{ep}$ and $R_{A/p} \approx 0.5-1.3$ for gluons in a broad range of $x$, including the kinematics of the Electron-Ion Collider, which reaffirms the difference from the nuclear enhancement of $R_{A/p}$ predicted in the gluon saturation framework. We demonstrate that the magnitude of $R_{A/p}$ is controlled by the cross section of the interaction of hadronic fluctuations of the virtual photon with target nucleons, which explains an enhancement of $R_{A/p}$ in the color dipole model and its suppression in LTA. We argue that the black disk limit corresponds to $R_{A/p}=1$ and $R^{\rm coh}_{A/p}=0.86$ for the summed and coherent scattering, respectively. Relying on an intuitive definition of the saturation scale, we show that the ratio of the saturation scales of a heavy nucleus and proton $Q_{sA}^2(b)/Q_{sp}^2(b) \approx 1$ at small impact parameters $b$ due to the strong leading twist nuclear shadowing and diluteness of the nuclear density.

Summing large Pomeron loops in the saturation region: amplitude and multiplicity distributions for dipole-dipole scattering

Abstract:In this paper we found the parton densities at high energies. Their expressions stems from our attempts to reconcile the exact solution to the Balitsky-Kovchegov (BK) equation, which describes the rare fluctuation in the dipole-target scattering, with the fact that this equation sums the 'fan' Pomeron diagrams. Using these densities we can calculate the contributions of large Pomeron loops to dipole-dipole scattering at high energies. We detected that the scattering matrix for this process has the same suppression as was predicted by Iancu and Mueller from their estimates of the 'rare' fluctuation in QCD. Applying the Abramovsky,Gribov and Kancheli cutting rules we found that the produced gluons are distributed accordingly the KNO (Koba, Nielsen and Olesen) law which leads to the entropy $S_E = \ln(x G(x,Q^2))$. $xG$ has to be in the saturation region at high energies.

Exploring the Impact of anti-shadowing effect on Unintegrated Gluon Distributions in the MD-BFKL Equation

Abstract:This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the MD-BFKL equation, considering both shadowing and anti-shadowing effects in gluon recombination processes. By deriving analytical expressions for unintegrated gluon distributions through the solution of the MD-BFKL equation, with and without the incorporation of anti-shadowing effect, we offer new insights into the influence of these effects on the behavior of unintegrated gluon distributions. Our results, when compared to the CT18NLO gluon distribution function, demonstrate that the anti-shadowing effect has a notably stronger impact on the characteristics of unintegrated gluon distributions, particularly in regions of high rapidity and momentum. This work significantly contributes to the understanding of gluon recombination mechanisms and their implications in high energy physics.

Abstract:The nuclear shadowing and antishadowing effects are explained by a unitarized BFKL equation. The $Q^2$- and $x$-variations of the nuclear parton distributions are detailed based on the level of the unintegrated gluon distribution. In particular, the asymptotical behavior of the unintegrated gluon distribution near the saturation limit in nuclear targets is studied. Our results in the nuclear targets are insensitive to the input distributions if the parameters are fixed by the data of a free proton.

Abstract:We study how much gluon shadowing can be perturbatively generated through the modified QCD evolution in heavy nuclei. We model in simultaneously fusions from independent constituents and from the same constituent, both in a proton and in a large loosely bound nucleus of A approximately 200. In addition to the actual distributions at small x, we study the ratios of the distributions at an initial scale Q0 = 2 GeV, and show that a strong nuclear shadowing can follow from the modified QCD evolution.

Abstract:We investigate charmonium production in Pb + Pb collisions at LHC beam energy Elab=2.76A TeV at fixed-target experiment (sNN = 72 GeV). In the frame of a transport approach including cold and hot nuclear matter effects on charmonium evolution, we focus on the antishadowing effect on the nuclear modification factors RAA and rAA for the J/ψ yield and transverse momentum. The yield is more suppressed at less forward rapidity (ylab≃2) than that at very forward rapidity (ylab≃4) due to the shadowing and antishadowing in different rapidity bins.

Abstract:We present a new relativistic bound-state formalism for two interacting Fermi–Dirac particles. The kernel of the integral equation for the bound-state system is generated by summing Feynman scattering amplitudes and multiplying by a bound-state amplitude. The method is illustrated through calculations of the hyperfine and fine splittings of positronium up to order α5. Our calculations of the one-loop contributions are carried out in the explicitly covariant Feynman gauge. We also present new results for the hyperfine and fine splittings in positronium to order α5 for arbitrary principal quantum number n, which are easily obtained owing to the virtue of conceptual and calculational simplicity of our formalism. In addition, we present the one-loop renormalization scheme in our formalism.

Abstract:The predictions for the proton structure function F2 at small x are presented by using the modified Gribov-Levin-Ryskin evolution equation which restores the momentum sum rule in the evolution processes. It turns out that the shadowing effect is weakened by the antishadowing effect in the region x > 10−3 and that the net shadowing effect will appear in the region x < 10−3 and low Q2.

Abstract:The dipole phenomenology, which has been quite successful applied to various hard reactions, especially on nuclear targets, is applied for calculation of Gribov inelastic shadowing. This approach does not include ad hoc procedures, which are unavoidable in calculations done in hadronic representation. Almost Quartic Lower Bound for the Fröhlich Polaron's Effective Mass via Gaussian Domination

Abstract:We prove the Fröhlich polaron has effective mass at least $\frac{\alpha^4}{(\log \alpha)^6}$ when the coupling strength $\alpha$ is large. This nearly matches the quartic growth rate $C_*\alpha^4$ predicted by Landau and Pekar in 1948 and complements a recent sharp upper bound of Brooks and Seiringer. Our proof works with the path integral formulation of the problem and systematically applies the Gaussian correlation inequality to exploit quasi-concavity of the interaction terms.
