Abstract:Investigation on the oil-gas two-phase leakage in the micro gaps is essential to the calculation of gas leakage rate in the oil-injected compressors.A test rig was built up to conduct the experimental study of the flow characteristics for the oil-gas mixture in micro-gaps.By changing the gap size and volume ratio of oil to gas and pressure difference/ratio through the gap,the flow patterns under various conditions were observed by a high-speed camera and then compared with the predicted ones by the We number. The leakage flow rates under different conditions were measured, and the correlation between the gas flow rate and the gap size and pressure difference was derived. The results show that the observed flow patterns agree with the predicted ones by the We number. The critical pressure ratio occurs nearby 1.8~2.3 during the test,at which the flow pattern changes from the churn flow to the annular one. Before the pressure ratio reaches the critical one,the leakage flow rate rises rapidly with the increased pressure ratio, but almost keeps constant after the pressure ratio gets across the critical region. The volume ratio of oil to gas has a great influence on the leakage, when it increases by 0.5%,the leakage flow rate could cut down by 77%.The polynomial-based correlation between the two-phase leakage flow rate and the pressure differences and gap size has an average relative error of 2.1%,which could be used for predicting the gas flow rate in the oil-injected compressors.
