Simplified Approach for Economic Selection of Copper Cables and Data Updating

Abstract:The ever-rising copper price in the past several years has led to a significant increase of the cost of copper cables,and the previous data can no longer be used for economical cable selection since the economical selection of different types of copper cables should be updated with the latest cost data from time to time. Collection of the complete data of the cable supply and erection costs for each region,however,is a complicated and tough job which involves great amount of exhausting work. Given this background,efforts are made in this study to develop a new approach for approximately estimating the present copper cable cost by using copper prices and furthermore a simplified approach for updating the present economical current density. Both of these two approaches are then used to simplify the conventional data updating process for the economical selection of cables. The proposed method can,to a large extent,lower difficulty in collecting complete data of prices of different kinds of new cables,thus speeding up updating of the economical current density.
