Method of Making Dynamic Thematic Maps Based on ArcIMS Java Connector

Abstract:Little work was reported where ArcIMS was employed to generate dynamic thematic maps,two methods were briefly discussed,which were editing ArcXML and applying Java connector.The former edited ArcXML files directly,which was complicated and hard to be extended,and moreover unable to customize dynamic variables.While the later supports Java connector object model,it could process dynamic variables without handling ArcXML tags.The main emphasis was placed on how to use renderer object model to make thematic maps under different data sources.Specially,a specific example of using session object to store dynamic data is given to demonstrate its flexibility.
