Abstract:Ambiguity aversion refers to the phenomenon that people prefer events with known probabilities to similar ambiguous events where the decision maker does not know the values of the probabilities. This research investigates the influence of the magnitude of probability,loss-gain outcome and need for cognitive closure on ambiguity aversion. The results of our research show that individuals tend to seek ambiguity when the probability of gain events is small;individuals are subject to ambiguity aversion when probability of gain events is moderate;individuals are liable to ambiguity aversion when the probability of gain events is large;individuals are inclined towards ambiguity aversion when probability of loss events is small;individuals are subject to ambiguity aversion when probability of loss events is moderate;individuals tend to seek ambiguity when probability of loss events is large. However, there does not exist significant relationships between need for cognitive closure and ambiguity aversion.
