Abstract:We study the Liouville equation Δ u = − e 2 u \Delta u = - {e^{2u}} in the complex plane with prescribed singularities and obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of the solution. The proof is based on the continuity method and a uniqueness theorem.

Abstract:This paper concerns the Lp dual Minkowski problem, which amounts to solving a class of Monge-Ampère type equations on the sphere. Our main purpose is to show the existence of solutions to the problem for all p>0 via the study of related parabolic flows. We also discuss the problem when p<0. The regularity and uniqueness of the solutions are also studied.

Abstract:A fundamental theorem of Liouville asserts that positive entire harmonic functions in Euclidean spaces must be constant. A remarkable Liouville-type theorem of Caffarelli-Gidas-Spruck states that positive entire solutions of $-\Delta u=u^{ {(n+2)}/{(n-2)} }$, $n\ge 3$, are unique modulo Möbius transformations. Far-reaching extensions were established for general fully nonlinear conformally invariant equations through the works of Chang-Gursky-Yang, Li-Li, Li, and Viaclovsky. In this paper, we derive necessary and sufficient conditions for the validity of such Liouville-type theorems. This leads to necessary and sufficient conditions for local gradient estimates of solutions to hold, assuming a one-sided bound on the solutions, for a wide class of fully nonlinear elliptic equations involving Schouten tensors. A pivotal advancement in proving these Liouville-type theorems is our enhanced understanding of solutions to such equations near isolated singularities. In particular, we utilize earlier results of Caffarelli-Li-Nirenberg on lower- and upper-conical singularities. For general conformally invariant fully nonlinear elliptic equations, we prove that a viscosity super- (sub-)solution can be extended across an isolated singularity if and only if it is a lower- (upper-)conical singularity. We also provide necessary and sufficient conditions for lower- (upper-)conical behavior of a function near isolated singularities in terms of its conformal Hessian. As an application of our Liouville theorems and local gradient estimates, we establish new existence and compactness results for conformal metrics on a closed Riemannian manifold with prescribed symmetric functions of the Schouten (Ricci) tensor, allowing the scalar curvature of the conformal metrics to have varying signs.

Abstract:We study finite total curvature solutions of the Liouville equation $\Delta u+e^{2u}=0$ on a complete surface $(M,g)$ with nonnegative Gauss curvature. It turns out that the asymptotic behavior of the solution separates two extremal cases: on the one end, if the solution decays not too fast, then $(M,g)$ must be isometric to the standard Euclidean plane; on the other end, if $(M,g)$ is isometric to the flat cylinder $\mathbb{S}^1\times \mathbb{R}$, then solutions must decay linearly and are completely classified.

An area growth estimate of the Liouville equation

Abstract:We establish an area growth estimate for solutions that are bounded from above of the Liouville equation $\Delta u+K e^{2u}=0$ with a positive pinched curvature $0<\lambda\leq K\leq\Lambda$. As an application, we provide a new proof of Eremenko-Gui-Li-Xu's result in [EGLX]. We also classify solutions with an upper bound in the half plane with the boundary having constant geodesic curvature.

Abstract:In this paper we shall give an analytic proof of the fact that the Liouville energy on a topological two sphere is bounded from below. Our proof does not rely on the uniformization theorem and the Onofri inequality, thus it is essentially needed in the alternative proof of the uniformization theorem via the Calabi flow. Such an analytic approach also sheds light on how to obtain the boundedness for E 1 energy in the study of general Kähler manifolds.

Abstract:In this paper,we study the nonexistence result of positive solution for the following Choquard equation:-△u=∫RN F(u(y))/│x-y│dy fu(x））,x ∈RNwhere N ≥ 3 is the dimension of the space.Under some assumptions on F and f,we prove that the above equation does not possess nontrivial positive solution.We use the moving plane method in an integral form to prove this result.

Abstract:In this note, we classify solutions to a class of Monge–Ampère equations whose right hand side may be degenerate or singular in the half space. Solutions to these equations are special solutions to a class of fourth order equations, including the affine maximal hypersurface equation, in the half space. Both the Dirichlet boundary value and Neumann boundary value cases are considered.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the Neumann problem of Monge-Ampère equations in Semi-space. For two dimensional case, we prove that its viscosity convex solutions must be a quadratic polynomial. When the space dimension n ≥ 3, we show that the conclusion still holds if either the boundary value is zero or the viscosity convex solutions restricted on some n − 2 dimensional subspace is bounded from above by a quadratic function. Abstract:We study the boundary value problem for the — conformally invariant — super-Liouville functionalE(u,ψ)=∫M{12|∇u|2+Kgu+〈(D̸+eu)ψ,ψ〉−e2u}dz that couples a function u and a spinor ψ on a Riemann surface. The boundary condition that we identify (motivated by quantum field theory) couples a Neumann condition for u with a chirality condition for ψ. Associated to any solution of the super-Liouville system is a holomorphic quadratic differential T(z), and when our boundary condition is satisfied, T becomes real on the boundary. We provide a complete regularity and blow-up analysis for solutions of this boundary value problem.

Abstract:In this paper, we are mainly concerned with the Dirichlet problems in exterior domains for the following elliptic equations: \begin{equation}\label{GPDE0} (-\Delta)^{\frac{\alpha}{2}}u(x)=f(x,u) \,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\, \text{in} \,\,\,\, \Omega_{r}:=\{x\in\mathbb{R}^{n}\,|\,|x|>r\} \end{equation} with arbitrary $r>0$, where $n\geq2$, $0<\alpha\leq 2$ and $f(x,u)$ satisfies some assumptions. A typical case is the Hardy-Hénon type equations in exterior domains. We first derive the equivalence between \eqref{GPDE0} and the corresponding integral equations \begin{equation}\label{GIE0} u(x)=\int_{\Omega_{r}}G_{\alpha}(x,y)f(y,u(y))dy, \end{equation} where $G_{\alpha}(x,y)$ denotes the Green's function for $(-\Delta)^{\frac{\alpha}{2}}$ in $\Omega_{r}$ with Dirichlet boundary conditions. Then, we establish Liouville theorems for \eqref{GIE0} via the method of scaling spheres developed in \cite{DQ0} by Dai and Qin, and hence obtain the Liouville theorems for \eqref{GPDE0}. Liouville theorems for integral equations related to higher order Navier problems in $\Omega_{r}$ are also derived.

Abstract:It is shown that each closed orbit (if exists) of the Liénard system x˙=F(x)−y, y˙=x is strictly convex under a mild condition on F(x). Specially the unique limit cycle of the Liénard system of the van der Pol equation x¨+μ(x2−1)x˙+x=0 is strictly convex for arbitrary μ>0. Some other examples are also provided.

Abstract:We prove Liouville theorem for the equation $\Delta v + N v^p + M |\nabla v|^{q}= 0$ in $\mathbb R^n$, with $M, N > 0, q = \frac{2p}{p + 1}$ in the critical and subcritical case. The proof is based on an integral identity and Young inequality.

By establishing an equivalent integral equation, we give a lower bound of the Kelvin transformation . Then, by constructing a new comparison function, we apply the maximum principle based on comparisons and the method of moving planes to obtain that u only depends on x n . Based on this, we prove the non-existence of non-negative solutions.

Besides we can use this method to prove the Liouville theorem of the equation $\Delta U + b\cdot \nabla U + h U^{\alpha} = 0, U \geq 0, 0 < \alpha < \frac{n + 2}{n - 2}$ on the complete Riemannian manifold.

Abstract:We study complex geodesics and complex Monge–Ampère equations on bounded strongly linearly convex domains in $$\mathbb C^n$$ . More specifically, we prove the uniqueness of complex geodesics with prescribed boundary value and direction in such a domain, when its boundary is of minimal regularity. The existence of such complex geodesics was proved by the first author in the early 1990s, but the uniqueness was left open. Based on the existence and the uniqueness proved here, as well as other previously obtained results, we solve a homogeneous complex Monge–Ampère equation with prescribed boundary singularity, which was first considered by Bracci et al. on smoothly bounded strongly convex domains in $${\mathbb {C}}^n$$ .

Abstract:Nonexistence results for positive supersolutions of the equation $$-Lu=u^p\quad\text{in $\mathbb R^N_+$}$$ are obtained, $-L$ being any symmetric and stable linear operator, positively homogeneous of degree $2s$, $s\in(0,1)$, whose spectral measure is absolutely continuous and positive only in a relative open set of the unit sphere of $\mathbb R^N$. The results are sharp: $u\equiv 0$ is the only nonnegative supersolution in the subcritical regime $1\leq p\leq\frac{N+s}{N-s}\,$, while nontrivial supersolutions exist, at least for some specific $-L$, as soon as $p>\frac{N+s}{N-s}$. \\ The arguments used rely on a rescaled test function's method, suitably adapted to such nonlocal setting with weak diffusion; they are quite general and also employed to obtain Liouville type results in the whole space.
