Abstract:With the development of information technology, service industry is no longer the representative of low skills and low paying jobs any more. Modern service, especially knowledge intensive service, is becoming one of the main competitive sources of a company or nation. Yet today, the productivity of service is still comparatively low, urgently needing innovation and improvement in our service system. Service Science, Management and Engineering (SSME) is an emerging discipline which dedicates to the study of service system. SSME education aims to train sufficient eligible service workers and scientists in order to promote innovation and productivity in service industry. Although several universities started SSME programs a few years ago, very little experience about SSME education is available currently. This paper first discusses the aims of SSME education program, mainly about the abilities that service worker and scientist should have. Then, several cases of the present programs are discussed, analyzing some of the common features as well as differences among them. In the last part of this paper, we put forward some suggestions for SSME education, including the curriculum, lecturer, education level, program partner, and so on.

Abstract:A modular current source power conditioning system (PCS) for a high temperature superconducting magnetic energy storage system (HT-SMES) was developed. Its system configuration and control design were given. Experimental results were shown to prove the effectiveness of the design.

Abstract:This paper describes the educational states and recent changes of power electronics (PE) and electrical drive (ED) in China's universities. The factors which promote the progress of the PE and ED education recently are introduced, such as teaching programs and typical textbooks, R&D cooperation with companies and R&D institutes at the universities, and the government's educational projects and foundations. SSME education trains scientists and skilled service workers to promote innovation and productivity in service industry. Although quite a number of universities started SSME programs years ago, most of them are still in the stage of experiment, and only address a small portion of the total subject. This paper first discusses the objectives of SSME education program—the abilities that service workers and scientists should have. Then, three types of foundation courses of the current programs are discussed in depth; the bachelor, master and PhD degree programs offered currently are analyzed, which include the course contents and teaching methods. Based on the inspirations from these practical programs, a unified model for SSME education is developed and presented, which proposes to unify bachelor, master and PhD programs, and establishes a new service science department comprising areas of service management, service engineering and design, service arts and humanities.

Abstract:In order to slove the disconnect problem of the information lfow between aero engine as-sembly and service, the research proposes the aircraft en-gine IETM application model. Based on this model, a uni-ifed data source model is proposed, which intergrates the descripton of the engine design, assembly quality data and maintenance records. The article designs the Data Module (DM) which describes the state of the data of a single en-gine technology based on S1000D. To achieve data closed loop management, we focus on the conversion of the data resource modle to DM. Finally, an instance proves that the method above is effective.

In this paper, the development of BME program in China is simply dealt with at first, and then BME program in Zhejiang University is presented, especially some effective and innovative acts which have been tested and proved in the process of education and training of undergraduates are emphatically introduced. Abstract:The goal of Service Science, Management and Engineering (SSME) is to improve service systems through service innovation. However, current SSME infrastructure lacks a comprehensive quality management framework and the SSME research on people is limited. Users' service expectation has increased a lot along with the development of ICT. Single organization usually cannot fulfill user's needs comprehensively. This study first analyzes the shortcomings of current system development and quality evaluation methodologies, and points out that these methods cannot meet the requirement of crossorganizational services; then, by considering the idea of Mashup and quality management model in service ecosystem, this study proposes a theoretical architecture of service system, and a preliminary quality management model under SSME context. © 2005 - 2013 JATIT & LLS. Abstract:In this paper, some recent and current research and development expertise of ”Flight System Control and Simulation Laboratory” at Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) , China are presented briefly. The main themes of our research programs include: space flight dynamics and control; cooperative guidance and control of multiple flight vehicles; rendezvous with non-cooperative target; hardware-in-the-Loop simulation methodology and technology for flight vehicle. Abstract:Mechatronics is a new emerging discipline challenging the traditional engineering thinking and practices. The Chinese–German School of Applied Sciences (Chinesisch-Deutsche Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften, CDHAW) is an educational project of the Chinese Ministry of Education (MoE) and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), implemented by the Tongji University and a consortium of German Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS). Mechatronics engineering is one of its three majors at present. This paper discusses the structure, orientation and curriculum design of mechatronics engineering education at CDHAW of Tongji University.

Abstract:Hydrogen generation through high temperature steam electrolysis (HTSE) using solid oxide electrolysis cells (SOEC) has recently received increasingly international interest in the large-scale, highly efficient nuclear hydrogen production field. The research and development of HTSE technology was initiated in INET of Tsinghua University from 2005 as one of the approaches in National Key Special Projects for HTGR which aims at promoting highly efficient and sustainable application of nuclear process heat in the future. In the past three years, the research team mainly focused on preliminary investigation, feasibility study, equipment development and fundamental research. Currently, two bench-scale equipments for the study of HTSE process and SOEC components have been designed and constructed. In addition, the research group made rapid progress in the development of novel anode materials, effective microstructure control of cathodes and theoretically quantitative analysis of hydrogen production efficiency through HTSE coupled with HTGR.

Abstract:Because of multidiscipline and inter-discipline of SSME, this paper presents the reduced knowledge system (RKS) of Service Science, Management and Engineering (SSME) based on teaching practice at School of Software, Dalian University of Technology for four years. Then, the organizational relationship of SSME is pointed out. We propose the case method throughout the teaching process. Based on these works, we propose an assessment method for SSME course.

Abstract:As the world increasingly becomes characterized by the provision of services to customers, service research faces many challenges and needs a new vision. Many of these challenges stem from the fact that technologies are continually experiencing dramatic change, and savvy customers are increasingly demanding more qualified services. Although research and experiential findings on services in many disciplines have achieved impressive results, systematic research on modern services systems is rarely considered. Aiming at services systems (not only services themselves), this paper discusses the contributions and the potentials for the field of systems theory for Services Science, Management and Engineering (SSME). Thus, SSME can provide suitable referential clues for discussing impacts of systems theory on services research, and systemic thinking can be applied to discuss key issues in SSME. Providing basic definitions of services and services systems, this paper elaborates on the research objects and methodologies of SSME from systems perspective, and proposes that systems theory can be applied as the foundations of services engineering. This paper further sheds light on systemic issues in services science and engineering, services operations, and services systems management. It also provides a summary of relevant theories and tools applied to services systems at the systems level. Finally, some potential prospects in SSME research are presented to meet research demands and practical challenges.
