Abstract:Tangren-zachao,written in the late Tang Dynasty,is an important Dunhuang manuscript preserved at the Toyo Bunko.Mr.Ikeda has transcribed and researched the manuscript.This article tries to correct the errors in Mr.Ikeda's paper and to research the reference book of the manuscript.

Abstract:Based on the investigation of the original texts of Dunhuang Manuscripts and other relative information,this article tries to re-recording and reviw those writings of Dunhuang Manuscript for correction,the texts here studied was belong to Seikidou Collection which collected by Iichiro Tokutomi and now hold in the Ochanomizu Library in Tokyo,Japan and.By author's description and studies,this article going to reveal these texts' writing form,the content and academic value view from angles of textual research and historical analysis.The study provides some new idea in Dunhuang Studies and new way for the textual research on overseas Dunhuang Manuscripts.

Abstract:Mr.Ikeda On is a renowned expert on Dunhuang Studies in Japan and throughout the world.He accepted strict training in Chinese language and history,owing to excellent educational environment and his diligence,and then he began his career in Dunhuang Studies.The publications such as the Research on Ancient Chinese Domicile and Account Documents and A Collection of Words from Ancient Chinese Manuscripts edited by him,exemplify his fundamental training in studies of ancient Chinese manuscripts.His research on the medieval social and economic history based on Dunhuang and Turfan documents has drawn widespread attention.He has also greatly contributed to the popularization of Dunhuang Studies in Japan and revealed his sincere attention to Dunhuang Studies in China and the researches of his Chinese counterparts.For this reason,this paper includes a catalogue of the works of Mr.Ikeda,in the hope of helping Chinese scholars understand his academic achievements and his influence on Dunhuang Studies.

Abstract:Recently unearthed documents have opened new opportunities for research into the poetry of the Tang Dynasty. The newly discovered documents offer the potential for extensive research into the poets during this dynasty,such as Cui Hao' s appointed official position,Han Yu' s friends,and the position of Miao Fa within his family. Wrong information from the poets' biographies,as described in the official history books,can be corrected with this new information. With the discovery of these documents,research into the poetry of the Tang Dynasty can be expanded.

Abstract:The common edition of The Old Tang History has many omission on the word.Now the scholars can't revise because the Song edition is incomplete seriously.The Yeshijun-collated edition that is found recently was collated on the basis. of the copy-Song edition of ChenCha Zhile Building of Ming Dynasty in Changshu.There are 65 volumes that the extant Song edition hasn't. It is a valuable remedy for the fragmentary Song edition .This dissertation attempts to make a full and accurate research on the circulation of the copy edition of ChenCha's Zhile Building and the Yeshijun-collated edition.From it we know the copy edition of Zhile Building was already incomplete at the beginning of Qing Dynasty.Henceforth it is lost.But the Yeshijun-collated edition which was considered losting is preserved in the Hunan Library.The most valuable part is the Benji through the illustration with examples on the value of Yeshijun-collated edition.
The Patching-up and Study on Some Buddhist Dictionary Fragments, Represented by NO. 18974, Dunhuang Manuscripts in the Russian Collections

Abstract:More than ten pieces of Buddhist dictionary fragments are kept in the Seventeenth Dunhuang Manuscripts in the Russian Collections, from P. 305 to P. 326. The editors of the book didn’t name and give necessary explanations to these fragments. Judging by the copying style and handwriting, we conclude that these fragments may have a same source. According to their contents, we find they are fragments of Dafang’guangfohuayanjing translated by the monk Shicha’nantuo of Yutian, and its preface written by Wu Zetian the empress of the Zhou Dynasty. After patching-up, we collated these fragments, marking out the sentences where these knotty characters were picked from. Basing on some deliberate or particularly used characters, such as ″qie″,″ming″ and ″lian″ in the fragments, we conclude that they belong to the Heishuicheng Manuscripts and not the Dunhuang Manuscripts. This article hopes to set an example to the patching-up of fragments of Dunhuang Manuscripts or Heishuicheng Manuscripts, and to the judgement of their copying dates.

Abstract:There are more than 140 documents of Arya-salistambha-nama-ma hayana-sutra and its commentaries reserved in Dunhuang manuscripts.Most of these documents are remnant scrolls or pieces,and some of them are originally from the same manuscript which was torn into several pieces.Through the comparative analysis of contents,residual words,ways of arrangement,calligraphic styles and handwriting,this paper puts 19 fragments together into 8 groups so as to restore the original features of Dunhuang manuscripts,which lays a foundation for further arrangement and study.

Abstract:Song Dan is the first scholar to discover Lin Yutang’ s unpublished English translation of The Red Chamber Dream stored in Japan. Based on the discovery and research of Lin’s translation, Song Dan authors the book Collation and Research of Lin Yutang’s Unpublished English Translation of THE RED CHAMBER DREAM Stored in Japan, which accurately solves the three problems of Lin’s choice of source text, translation time, and why it was translated and published in Japan. Through the integration of materials and methods, the book, with its detailed analysis, addresses well the basic questions of Lin’s translation strategies, characteristics, and significance. It also makes a useful exploration on the methodologies of multilingual or cross-cultural translation research. Moreover, the meticulous collation is helpful to understand Lin’s translation more directly and vividly. This book provides new literature for both the translation study of The Red Chamber Dream and the study of Lin Yutang. It not only presents a new paradigm for the study of translators’ manuscripts, but also can arouse the circle of Redology to rethink the sequel problem and Lin’s study of The Red Chamber Dream. The author’s perseverance and diligence in research are commendable, and her innovative way to integrate materials and methods is also enlightening for the current translation studies.

Abstract:Xunzijiaoshi(荀子校释) provides precise and appropriate annotations to Xunzi(荀子).It compiled and revisited the previous research available both within and without the country,dissolved doubts and problems and offered insightful opinions of the text of Xunzi.Nevertheless,little omissions and small errors are inevitable.Five mistakes are analyzed in this article: qi(齐) in heqi(和齐)shall not be pronounced differently;Shuai(率) has been mispronounced twice;Juan(蠲) in juanyi(蠲疑) is a borrowed character of ■,She(埶) in shezaibenchao shall be pronunced as she(设),and aishe(隘慑) is identical to dianai(垫隘) in Zuo.
A New Study on the Dunhuang Manuscripts Chajiu Lun

Abstract:The Dunhuang version of Chajiu Lun( On Tea and Wine) consists of seven manuscripts rather than six, as was previously supposed. Four of these pages record the name of the author in different ways.Considering the development of tea culture in the Tang dynasty, the Chajiu Lun can be presumed to have been written around 800-805 CE. Certain transcription characteristics reveal that many culturally educated persons from the lower classes of society greatly enjoyed this text and even copied it for their own use.

Abstract:he fragment of Baopuzi is a precious manuscript among scattered Dunhuang documents. This paper introduces the condition of its preservation and collection, and researches its transcription time and textual value. It might have been transcribed in the Northern Zhou dynasty, close to the time when that book was written. Therefore, it records more original information and thus has significant textual value.

Abstract:The catalogues of Buddhistic scriptures have it that there are three different translations of the Avatamsaka-Sutra: one translation is a fifty-scroll edition translated during the Jin Dynasty,which was then revised into a sixty-scroll edition; a second version is an eighty-scroll edition translated in the Tang Dynasty;while a third is a forty-scroll edition also translated in the Tang Dynasty. Texts from these three translations can be found among the Dunhuang manuscripts,but the fifty-scroll edition enjoys numerical superiority. After a general investigation of all the Dunhuang manuscripts,89 pieces have been identified as being texts from the fifty-scroll edition,among which,4 pieces are preserved intact,while the rest are all fragments. This paper,by putting together broken Chinese characters,analyzing coherence and cohesion,comparing the format of lines in writing and the calligraphic styles,puts 26 fragments together into 11 groups and finally explores the distribution and the naming of the relevant pieces.
