Abstract:A scheme of embedded IP gateway based on SOPC is proposed for wideband satellite data communication.HDLC(High-level Data Link Control Procedures)is one of the most widely used Data-Link layer protocols in satellite data communication system.A high-speed HDLC IP CORE is designed and implemented on a single chip and an embedded linux software environment is set up.Compared to common scheme,this scheme is more flexible and efficient.The throughput of this scheme is also higher.The design idea,key point and the structure of both hardware and software of the proposed scheme is presented.A prototype of this scheme is given and it is proved that this prototype has high performance.

Abstract:Nowadays Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) have become so affordable that they can be used to replace ASICs in some fields such as embedded systems in consumer electronic industry. In the paper, we design an embedded system with uClinux OS (operating system) based on FPGA. The way and experiences of the co-design of HW/SW are presented. The paper also gives an application of MPEG2-player on the embedded system and the comparison with other embedded system based ASICs.

Abstract:Abstract To study the development trend of embedded platforms in home appliances Internet of Things (IoT), an application of embedded Linux in the design of IoT gateway is designed. ARM microprocessor S3C2410, EM310 radio frequency (RF) module, and Ethernet DM9000A module are used to realize the home network information-processing platform. The platform utilizes existing network facilities, RF modules, and network interface modules to realize the interconnection of the home perception network through wireless or wired links. For experimental analysis, Ping the central server (gateway) from the IoT node B is set to twice: The first time ttl = 255 time = 1.9 ms, the second time: ttl = 255 time = 2.4 ms. After application verification, the system has the characteristics of low cost, small size, low power consumption, and vital ease of use. It can not only integrate the home Internet and the IoT gateway but also directly run application-layer communication protocols such as HTTP/MQTT between IoT nodes and Internet terminals. The design supports multi-hop communication and significantly increases the deployment range of IoT nodes without signal relay equipment, hence reducing the cost of IoT networking and the complexity of the network architecture.

Abstract:The intelligent agricultural environment monitoring system is one of the applications of wireless sensor networks (WSNs), which has an extensive application and bright foreground. In the intelligent monitoring system, the gateway is important equipment for realizing the interconnection between WSNs and internet freely. For this purpose, this paper proposes designs and implements a kind of embedded gateway based on ARM9 processor. The core hardware chips are AT91RM9200 for ARM and JN5139 for Zigbee, with serial port for the communication each other, then extending multiple functional hardware modules. At the same time, on this platform, embedded ARM Linux based on version 2.4 kernel is introduced. Experiment results show that the gateway interconnects the WSNs and the internet freely, which data can be transmitted with Ethernet, WLAN communication methods. It has the useful characteristics of low power and real-time, easy to use and integration.

Abstract:In order to realize the fast and reliable data communication between the PLC of marine power station monitoring system and upward processors,AT91R40008 high-proficiency ARM processor by ATMEL and multi-line UART enlarged chip ST16C654 by EXAR are used to design the gateway device.Its function is general engine control units data to industry monitoring computer on marine power station monitoring system by the method of communication.The data is shared in industry monitoring computer and the common possession of the data which has 4 ports with isolating RS232/RS485 communication interfaces,and 2 ports with non-isolated RS232 communication interfaces.The gateway device has been sucessfully used in marine monitoring system to achieve multi-protocol communication(application requirement in Modbus protocol,HostLink protocol and user-definied protocol).It is complied with industry control field and satisfies the demand of engineering.

Abstract:Many wireless sensor network applications require a gateway device to interface with services running on the Internet. Because of the software complexity involved in this device, it is often realized using a real-time operating system running on an application processor. Most systems burden the user with developing the protocol handling and device configuration and management inside the application. In this paper, we present the Angelos Gateway - a turnkey, low-cost, Linux-powered WSN gateway that provides a socket-based environment for rapid network-enabled application development. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed device is capable of high-throughput packet I/O confirming the efficacy of the proposed implementation.

Abstract:In accordance with the users' requirements for a kind of high-performance electromagnetic flowmeter(EMF),the paper proposes a design method for the EMF hardware based on the ARM9 MCU,which makes it possible for the EMF to realize several exciting modes,data storage with USB,communication in the Ethernet and display on the TFT true color screen.The paper also gives a detailed introduction about the EMF measuring devices and the circuit design based on the ARM9 core-board with the design method of modularization.

Abstract:The automotive telematics gateway is an important part of modern high-end cars providing various safety and convenience services for the vehicle owner. We have developed a software platform for automotive gateway based on virtualization technology. It runs two guest OSes concurrently on the same processor: one connected to in-vehicle embedded networks for running hard real-time applications, and the other connected to the outside internet for running soft or non-real-time applications. Several representative applications have been implemented on this platform, including car taillight switch, virtual instrumentation panel, task migration in the pervasive computing environment, multimedia migration based on NFC, etc.

Abstract:An intelligent door control system based on the image technology is proposed and implemented.Therefore,the shortcomings of the small range,low sensitivity of the traditional intelligent door control system are successfully improved.The system of miniaturization and real-time is realized by the hardware structure of double controller(FPGA+ARM).The image data is collected by a camera which is controlled by FPGA.And at the same time the grayscale is pretreated.Image data is cached in real time by two SRAM ping-pong operations.Using the bus and ARM embedded system to communicate and the image door control algorithm is achieved by transplanting OpenCV.Experimental results show that the accuracy rate is up to 96%.

Abstract:Pervasive service gateway is the most important equipment for pervasive computing. We design a pervasive service gateway for the smart space. We selected OSGi framework, embedded Linux as operating system and ARM9 platform as hardware to implement this service gateway. We mainly designed three application modules. They are remote control by Web server, local control in smart space, and automatic control by wireless temperature sensor. These three kinds of application modules are not independent, but collaborate with each other to complete the intelligent control of smart space. Three modules can share the information and control results of equipments to each other. According to our experiments, the pervasive service gateway runs well.

Abstract:This paper proposes a multi-protocol automotive gateway, which supports three popular communication protocols, CAN bus, Wi-Fi, and RS-232. The proposed gateway is implemented on an embedded Linux system ported to an ARM development board. A dedicated application is designed to deal with the information exchange among the ports of the gateway. An ACL is implemented to control the permission of data frames on the CAN bus. Strict rules are prescribed to ensure that crucial ECUs are unapproachable. Frames from readable nodes can be accessible from the other ports of the gateway while only information destined to writable nodes is forwarded to the CAN bus. In addition, data rate is regulated to avoid congestion on the CAN bus. Unoccupied GPIOs that support other protocols are exported on the board for the future extension. Besides, an empty hook function is provided to support the extension of additional application.
