Abstract:This study analyzes the citations of papers on journalism and communication in CSSCI and CNKI,and sorts out the highly cited papers in this field in the period between 1978 and 2007.The paper then compares and contrasts the characteristics of citations in the two indexes,and analyzes the distribution of those highly cited papers on journalism and communication in terms of their domains,years of publication and journals in which they are published.It is found that all academic studies of journalism and communication tend to be innovative in subject matter,but seemingly conservative.

Abstract:Based on the bibliographical statistics of 224 original papers and proceedings papers from SSCI、AHCI and CPCI-SSH,the paper concludes that there are five distinguished features of new media researches in communication studies during the last 20 years:there are more papers published in communication studies;the year of 1997 is a turning point;USA and European countries are the research centre,while China goes ahead in Asia;the leading journals are coming into being,but the core institutions and authors are still unclear;and finally,the use of internet is the main part of new media studies by far now.

Abstract:In recent years,studies on the impact of internet on civil society in China become a heated field.We review present studies and point out their weaknesses here in a critical and reflective way.First,thanks to NGOs' contribution in 2008 Wenchuan great earthquake,many scholars overestimate the development of civil society in China;second,under western centrism and technological determinism,they simply interpret the internet as a platform for social forces to challenge the state;third,as to the issue of web public sphere,thinness of theoretical resources,inadequate inquiries of group polarization,and simplistic understanding of rationality in online discussion are major drawbacks.At last,to further the research,we propose some approaches:multiply theoretical foundations,shift research perspectives,explore new research methods and select proper methodology consciously and reflectively.

Abstract:This study analyzes highly cited papers on the study of new media,and traces the course of development and change of subject in the study of new media in the last 10 years.It is found that in its early period,the study of new media in China,to a large extent,focuses on the introduction of the rapid growing Internet into journalism and communications.In the middle period of the development of the study of new media,scholars driven by the unique Chinese public opinion environment focus their attention on the electronic forum,especially its political ecology.In recent years,in line with the development of the media technology throughout the world,scholars have been concentrating their attention on the new forum for public expression-the blog-which has changed the media ecology.

Abstract:The leading responsibility of mass media is the significant duty and function to guide the audiences to participate in social construction.With the help of the content analysis approach,we explain the main hotspot events over the period from 2008 to 2011,analyze the mass media in the consumer society.We find that there is a paradox in reality that on the one hand,the era and society pay increasingly great attention to mass media,while on the other hand the deviation events of the leading responsibility of mass media emerge endlessly.Integrating the theories of journalism and communication and the analysis of actual cases,we figure out the underlying reasons of this contradictory state,and purposely put forth our opinions and recommendations about the development of the virtuous cycle of the leading responsibility of mass media in an attempt to provide ideas for solving the actual issues faced by the leading responsibility of mass media at present.

Abstract:Communication Studies in Chinese mainland start from the most practical spheres of audience research,media management and environmental studies.Introductory articles about Western communication theories and methods also account for a high proportion.Studies on the media literacy and public communication appear until relatively recent years,and the number of organizational communication and interpersonal communication research is still fairly small. The number of studies based on the cases of Chinese mainland is in exponential increase.Moreover,with the increase of international exchanges and the expansion of researcher's academic view in communication,there are more research findings in the communication mechanisms of European countries and the United States,especially in public communication, of which China showed an obvious lack.

Abstract:The birth of Chinese journalism and journalism history is inseparable from the so-called problem of modernity,namely the problem of "ancient and modern,Chinese and Western" in Chinese context.There are two ideas about the modernity and its discourse to date,one is the evolutionary idea from the traditional to the modern,including the liberalization path of "advancing to the world","in line with international practice" and "wholesale Westernization",and the revolutionization path of "national independence","national liberation" and People's freedom;the other is the culturalism idea from the civilization system to the modern system.Accordingly,it seems that the studies of journalism history can be categorized into different types.This paper makes a preliminary reflection and exploration on it,in the hope of secking after the internal logic of the Chinese journalism in the broad background of civilization.

Abstract:Crisis communications study is a new field developed in the middle of last century,whose primary responsibility is to protect and defend an organization or government in time of crisis by providing contingency plans and extensive media coverage,helping minimize the disruption for the public and up-building its reputation.a crisis diffusion consists of four phases: forecast,outburst,diffusion and crisis management.According to the four phase model,this paper analyses new features of the media coverage in the 2008 earthquake in Sichuan of China and new problems that should call the media's attention,such as preventing measures before crisis,different media channels working interactively during crisis outburst,and the way of Chinese crisis reporting and that of western counties.During crisis management,further analysis of causes and the impact of extensive media coverage for children is another important issue.

Abstract:Use of secondary document and network document can communicate information, improve use factor and reveal the academic value of documents. Abstract:As one of a serial of reports,this paper is a survey on multimedia researches and applications in China,2008.Since multimedia is a cross research area,papers about multimedia technology are distributed on various journals.We checked 2 918 papers published on 9 Chinese journals in 2008,from which we have selected 382 related to multimedia technology and application.Then we conducted analysis on all the selected papers and for those from 2004 to 2007 statistical analyses were conducted.The categories are the same as last year.Looking into the data,we can find that coding standards,digital watermarking,virtual reality,multimedia data retrieval,multicast,streaming media,interactive mode and interface,identification using biometrics earn high attention of researchers in China.Meanwhile,multimedia application systems are diversified and intergraded with daily life gradually.We present here an overview on the progress in multimedia technology in China,2008.This article can be used by researchers as a thoroughl reference,and also will be helpful for people in technical planning and management.

Abstract:This paper ponders on the academic development of college journalism and communication in China during the past 3 decades from the perspective of experience,problems and outlook.There are 5 experiences: the support of the funda-mental policies of opening and reform,emancipating the mind and moving steadily,opening to outside and attracting overseas intellectuals,hanging on both fundamental and applicative research,and earnestly improving research methods.The problems include less understanding to the concepts and categories,less learning consciousness and courage and less symbolized achievement.In future,it is necessary to make planning,to conquer key problems and to provide condition for yielding sym-bolized achievement.

Abstract:Hot network events refer to the events that are released by network media,form public opinions and become major concerns.The year 2009 saw quite a few of them and they showed a series of characteristics typical of communication studies: spreading rapidly with corresponding network vocabulary;expanding obviously with participants;spreading generally with their own regularity;reflecting new meanings to the audience psychology;being difficult in identifying and confirming the information accuracy and reliability.They have posed challenges to the existing theories of communication studies in the aspect of their pattern,control and result such as exceeding the present spreading mode,breaking through the theory of the check-maker,and developing the theory of agenda-setting.
