Abstract:Abstract In this paper, we study the initial boundary value problem for a class of higher-order n -dimensional nonlinear pseudo-parabolic equations which do not have positive energy and come from the soil mechanics, the heat conduction, and the nonlinear optics. By the mountain pass theorem we first prove the existence of nonzero weak solution to the static problem, which is the important basis of evolution problem, then based on the method of potential well we prove the existence of global weak solution to the evolution problem.

Abstract:In this chapter, firstly we apply the iterative method to establish the existence of the positive solution for a type of nonlinear singular higher-order fractional differential equation with fractional multi-point boundary conditions. Explicit iterative sequences are given to approximate the solutions and the error estimations are also given. Secondly, we cover the multi-valued case of our problem. We investigate it for nonconvex compact valued multifunctions via a fixed point theorem for multivalued maps due to Covitz and Nadler. Two illustrative examples are presented at the end to illustrate the validity of our results.

Abstract:Inverse problems, which are related to Maxwell's equations, in the presence of nonlinear materials is a quite new topic in the literature. The lack of contributions in this area can be ascribed to the significant challenges that such problems pose. Retrieving the spatial behaviour of some unknown physical property, from boundary measurements, is a nonlinear and highly ill-posed problem even in the presence of linear materials. Furthermore, this complexity grows exponentially in the presence of nonlinear materials. In the tomography of linear materials, the Monotonicity Principle (MP) is the foundation of a class of non-iterative algorithms able to guarantee excellent performances and compatibility with real-time applications. Recently, the MP has been extended to nonlinear materials under very general assumptions. Starting from the theoretical background for this extension, we develop a first real-time inversion method for the inverse obstacle problem in the presence of nonlinear materials. The proposed method is intendend for all problems governed by the quasilinear Laplace equation, i.e. static problems involving nonlinear materials. In this paper, we provide some preliminary results which give the foundation of our method and some extended numerical examples.

Abstract:Recently much work has been devoted to periodic-parabolic equations with linear homogeneous boundary conditions. However, very little has been accomplished in the literature for periodic-parabolic problems with nonlinear boundary conditions. It is the purpose of this paper to prove existence and regularity results for (classical) periodic solutions to semilinear second order parabolic partial differential equations with nonlinear boundary conditions provided ordered upper and lower solutions are given. Fractional order function spaces, Ehrling–Gagliardo–Nirenberg and Lions–Peetre–Calderón type interpolation inequalities for functions in (anisotropic) Sobolev–Slobodeckii spaces play an important role in the obtainment ofa prioriboundary and interior estimates. In proving our existence results we make use of topological degree techniques and regularity results for linear parabolic partial differential equations under linear nonhomogeneous boundary conditions. We also indicate how one can obtain minimal and maximal time-periodic solutions to parabolic problems with nonlinear boundary conditions.

Abstract:In this article, an effective computational technique is developed to get an analytical approximation to the solution of a class of two-point nonlinear singular boundary value problems arising in different physical models. The proposed approach consists of two steps. Firstly, formulate an integral operator by involving Green's function, and then, the Halpern's fixed-point method is implemented to the obtained integral operator to establish the desired iterative technique. The convergence of this approach is also discussed. To show the efficiency of our approach, various numerical examples are considered. The main advantages of the proposed method over existing methods are that the proposed method does not require Adomian polynomials to handle the nonlinearity, solves the problem without using the Lagrange multipliers and constrained variations and takes both endpoints of the interval into consideration. Further, the proposed method tackles the problems without requiring linearization, discretization, and perturbation assumptions, unlike other semi-analytical methods.

Abstract:In this article the correctness of al inear inverse problem with semi-nonlocal boundary conditions for a three-dimensional equation in a parallelepiped is considered. The equation itself is a fourth order mixed type equation of the second kind. The existence and uniqueness theorems for a generalized solution of the inverse problem in a certain class of integrable functions are~proved using the methods of Fourier, "$\varepsilon $-regularization", a priori estimates, approximating sequences and contracting mappings.

Abstract:In this article, we consider the Dirichlet problem for nonlinear higher-order equations in upper half plane. Firstly we introduce the solutions of inhomogeneous polyanalytic equation in upper half plane. Then we investigate the properties of relevant integral operators. Lastly we transform the Dirichlet problem for nonlinear higher-order equations in upper half plane into the system of integro-differential equations and we obtain the existence of unique solution using Banach fixed point theorem.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate positive solutions of boundary value problems for a general second-order nonlinear difference equation, which includes a Jacobi operator and a parameter λ. Based on the critical point theory, we obtain the existence of three solutions for the boundary value problem. Then, we establish a strong maximum principle for this problem and obtain some determined open intervals of the parameter λ for the existence of at least two positive solutions. In the end, we give two examples to illustrate our main results.
