Abstract:A simple, rapid, and highly efficient method has been developed for the aza-Michael addition of acrylonitrile to 2-aryl-oxymethylbenzimidazole derivatives in the presence of anhydrous potassium carbonate under microwave irradiation. A series novel of 1-cyanoethyl-2-aryloxymethylbenzimidazole derivatives have been prepared and characterised by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, IR spectra and elemental analysis.

Abstract:An efficient and practical method for the synthesis of medicinally important acridines from readily available o-aminoaryl ketones and arylboronic acids was developed using copper(II)-mediated relay reactions that involve intermolecular Chan-Lam cross-coupling and subsequent intramolecular Friedel-Crafts-type reactions. A sole promoter, i.e., Cu(OTf)2, was used; therefore, strongly acidic and basic conditions, nonreadily available or expensive substrates, additives, and noble-metal catalysts were not needed.

Abstract:An operationally simple and efficient microwave-assisted protocol for the oxidative cyclization of acrylamide derivatives with non-activated ketones to generate 3,3-disubstituted oxindoles is described. The reaction proceeds by a copper-catalyzed tandem radical addition/cyclization strategy and tolerates a series of functional groups with moderate to excellent yields.

Abstract:γ-Carbolines were obtained in a simple one-pot Fischer arting from N-acetyl-3-bromo-4-piperidone hydrobro-reaction starting from N-acetyl-3-bromo-4-piperidone hydrobromide and substituted arylhydrazine hydrochlorides in acidic media under microwave irradiation or by a thermal process. The optimization procedures are reported in detail, and the results from micro-wave processes are compared with conventional ones.

Abstract:The reaction of o-aminoacetophenones and arylboronic acids catalyzed by copper(II) salts in the presence of pyridine under an O2 atmosphere provides a general and efficient one-pot preparation of biologically interesting acridones. This relay reaction comprises an intermolecular Suzuki cross-coupling, intramolecular oxidative C(sp3)-H amination, and C(sp2)-H activation with simultaneous rearrangement of the generated isatin intermediates. This strategy tolerates both electron-donating and -withdrawing functionalities to afford various acridones in good to excellent yields.

Abstract:A convenient one-pot synthesis of 2-arylbenzofuran-3-carboxylic acids from (E)-2-(2-bromophenyl)-3-phenylacrylic acids via Cu-catalyzed consecutive hydroxylation and aerobic oxidative cycloetherification under microwave conditions has been developed. This protocol employed the reagent combination of Cu(OAc)2, 1,10-phen, and KOH in DMSO/H2O (1:1), all of which are cost-effective, readily available, and easily removable from the reaction mixture. Utilizing this synthetic protocol, various 2-arylbenzofuran-3-carboxylic acids as well as the natural product moracin M have been synthesized in satisfactory yields under mild conditions.

Abstract:In the presence of acenaphthoimidazole N-heterocyclic carbene palladium complexes, cyanation of aryl bromides by non-toxic and inexpensive potassium hexacyanoferrate (II) as cyanide source in water has been investigated under microwave conditions. Both electron-donating and electron-withdrawing groups attached to the substrates show unobvious effects on the transformation and produce the corresponding products in good to excellent yields within few minutes, which demonstrate the practicability and environmentally friendliness of the new developed protocol.

Abstract:A novel synthesis method has been developed for the construction of functionalized 2,4-diarylpyridines. The reaction involves several key processes, including a reduction reaction, Michael reaction, decarboxylation, intramolecular cyclization, oxidation, ring-opening and aromatization reaction. All of these processes are facilitated by heating a mixture of the starting materials in the environmentally benign solvent, propylene carbonate (PC), with the oxidant (air) and the catalyst Cu(OAc)2. This cascade reaction not only forms two new bonds but also cleaves three existing bonds in a single pot. The protocol presented in this study is a valuable tool for synthesizing functionalized unsymmetrical 2,4-diarylpyridines.

Abstract:A novel method for the synthesis of 5-arylmethylidene-3-carboxymethylrhodanine derivatives under microwave irradiation was developed.The Knoevenagel condensation reaction of aromatic aldehydes and 3-carboxymethylrhodanine catalyzed by NH4Ac could be completed within 4 min.The yields ranged from 76%～93%.The method was simple,efficient and environmentally friendly.The products were identified by 1H NMR and IR.
