Two Faces of the Connection between Marx and Christianity——From Loewith's Inquisition of the Premise of Theology of Modern Enlightenment Historical View

Abstract:Marx's critique thought of Christianity,even of religion,is well known.However,there is a complicated relation between Marx's theoretical construction and thoughts of Christianity.Leowith, contemporary Germen thinker,deeply inquisited the theological premise of the rise of the modern philosophy of history,and pointed out that the modern enlightenment historical view arises from the historical theology and eschatology belief of Christianity.From this aspect,obviously,Marx inherited the thinking frame of modern enlightenment.On one hand,Marx's expectation of future society contains a historical idea of radically constant development and progress to the the ultimate perfection, which in fact comes from a kind of indirect eschatology belief of Judaism-Christianity;earthly communism as a secularized theoretical expression of Christian Heaven,is just a reversed eschatology belief.On the other hand,on the problem of the way to realize the future society,Marx insisted a way to revolutionize the real world,which is to replace spiritual critique with material critique,and replace the sacred salvation of heaven with the critique of earthly society,so that the critique of religion became the publicly negative attitude of Marx,which has a characteristic of judgement of deontology.
