A General Description of Developing the Shenzhen ITS System

Abstract:With the rapid development of technologies in the fields of computer, telecommunications, information, etc., Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) has become one of the approaches known globally to solving the current traffic problems which become increasingly complicated. While attempting to solve these problems, many big cities in China focus on and start constructing ITS systems. Starting with concepts of ITS system, this paper briefly introduces the process and development trend of ITS systems both at home and abroad, and proposes some guiding principles and goals for ITS system construction for Shenzhen, including construction requirements and a user analysis with respect to these goals. The paper stresses the system framework and functional decomposition of ITS system construction in Shenzhen, and presents a 4+1 system framework, 8 task packages and 34 construction sub-systems. The paper finally summarizes the corresponding implementation plans, promotion tactics and safeguard measures.
