Abstract:A bamboo slip fragment of the Han legal texts excavated from tomb number 336 at Zhangjiashan in Jingzhou, Hubei Province, records four geographical names. The four place names are all located in the western border of Longxi County, and they are arranged in order from north to south according to the traffic route, which indicates that the legal provisions recorded on the bamboo slip fragment may be related to the management of border fortresses or traffic routes. According to the order of the four names on the bamboo slip fragment, combined with the “Xi Qiang Zhuan” chapter of Hou-Hanshu, it can be determined that the Qin-Han Didao Road was near the present-day Dangchang County, Gansu Province. By knowing the location of the Qin-Han Didao Road, it can be deduced that the Qingshui River（in the present-day Dangchang County, Lixian territory） was corresponded to the Yangshui River in the “Yugong” chapter of Shangshu in the Han Dynasty, and that the present-day northern section of Min’eshan Mountain was then corresponded to the Bozhongshan Mountain in the “Yugong.” In the Han Dynasty, there was also a different view that the present-day Qishoushan Mountain in Tianshui City should be corresponded to Bozhongshan Mountain. This divergence may show the difference in the understanding of the place names of the “Yugong” by different schools of Confucianism. After the Wei and Jin Dynasties, in order to match the present-day Qishoushan Mountain with the Bozhongshan Mountain in the “Yugong, ” another opinion emerged that the present-day Yongning River should be corresponded to the Yangshui River of the “Yugong.” When it came to the Northern Wei Dynasty, Bozhong Mountain was placed in present-day Ningqiang County of Shaanxi Province, and the Yangshui River was corresponded to the present-day Da’an River. The continuous changes regarding the changes in the opinions of the locations of Yangshui River and Bozhongshan Mountain are closely related to the recognition of the source of Hanshui River throughout a series of dynasties.
