Abstract:We give a definition of compactness in L-fuzzy topological spaces and provide a characterization of compact L-fuzzy topological spaces, where L is a complete quasi-monoidal lattice with some additional structures, and we present a version of Tychonoff's theorem within the category of L-fuzzy topological spaces.

Abstract:The k-valued Kleene functions over Kleene algebra (instead of over Post algebra) are defined. Multivalued logic and fuzzy logic are studied in the light of lattice theory. It is shown that all Kleene k-valued logic (k = 3 or more) have the same algebraic structure as fuzzy logic through lattice isomorphism. As a by-product, an asymptotic formula and upper bound for enumeratinlg fuzzy switching functions of n variables is obtained. Some conditions for minimizing Kleene functions are discussed, and an efficient generalized Karnaught map method is described. An application is made of the above Kleene multivalued logic to the fault diagnosis of combinational circuits. The fault norm of a combinational circuit is introduced and it is shown that this norm contains all the information about the fault situation of the circuit, and can hence be used to solve such problems as fault analysis, fault diagnosis, and detection of circuit redundance and fault masking.

Abstract:A condition, in two variants, is given such that if a property P satisfies this condition, then every logic which is at least as strong as first-order logic and can express P fails to have the compactness property. The result is used to prove that for a number of natural properties P speaking about automorphism groups, every logic which is at least as strong as first-order logic and can express P fails to have the compactness property. The basic idea underlying the results and examples presented here is that, using results from random graph theory, it is possible to construct a countable first-order theory T such that every model of T has a very rich automorphism group, but every finite subset of T has a model which is rigid.

Abstract:We introduce and study a new type of compactness principle for strong logics that, roughly speaking, infers the consistency of a theory from the consistency of its small fragments in certain outer models of the set-theoretic universe. We refer to this type of compactness property as outward compactness, and we show that instances of this type of principle for second-order logic can be used to characterize various large cardinal notions between measurability and extendibility, directly generalizing a classical result of Magidor that characterizes extendible cardinals as the strong compactness cardinals of second-order logic. In addition, we generalize a result of Makowsky that shows that Vop\v{e}nka's Principle is equivalent to the existence of compactness cardinals for all abstract logics by characterizing the principle "Ord is Woodin" through outward compactness properties of abstract logics.

Abstract:Lukasiewicz logic is a "fuzzy" logic in which truth value can be real numbers in the unit interval. There are connectives for min, max, addition and complement (1-x). The "value" of a closed formula in a fuzzy (relational model) is defined in the natural way. A formula is called valid iff it has value 1 in every fuzzy model. We show that the set of valid formulas in Lukasiewicz predicate logic is a complete Pi^0_2 set. We also show that if we restrict our attention to the classical language (min, max, complement) then the classically valid formulas are exactly those formulas whose fuzzy value is 1/2.

Abstract:Based on Galois connection,four kinds of fuzzy concept lattices have been introduced.(Studied) is the cases where the truth values come from a complete lattice with a commutative residuated pair and from a complete involutive residuated lattice.The four kinds of fuzzy concept lattices have the same properties as their crisp counterparts,and a perfect duality could be achieved to the case where the structure is a complete involutive residuated lattice.Finally,based on the fuzzy concept lattice,a completely reductive fuzzy inference method has been proposed.

Abstract:Fuzzy quantifiers have important applications in a great variety of fields such as database querying, data mining and knowledge discovering, inductive learning and so on. Recently, M.S.Ying introduces a novel fuzzy framework for linguistic quantifiers which are modeled by Sugeno integrals. Essentially, the conjunction and disjunction in Ying's framework are interpreted as the "min" and "max" operations, which restricts the application of this theory in some sense. In this paper, we extended Ying's framework by interpreting the conjunction and disjunction as t-norm and t-conorm respectively. And some elegant logical results for our framework have been obtained.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the problem of executing a fuzzy knowledge base (FKB) with rule chaining. The inference process used as starting point is the one based on forward reasoning functions which, obtained from the compositional rule of inference, permits performing the execution of rules in the truth space. This way the process is totally independent from the universes of discourse in which the different variables are defined, allowing a homogeneous treatment for all the variables in the FKB. The execution of the rules is interpreted as the "propagation" of linguistic truth values of the linguistic truth variable that reflect the linguistic degree of fulfillment of each of the propositions in the rules. This execution process is analyzed in two fields of application: control systems, where it is customary to assume t-norm operators as implication functions, and the aggregation process is implemented through the maximum operator and expert systems applications, where other implication functions may be needed and t-norm operators are generally used as aggregation operators. For both of these situations, we present a compaction mechanism which allows a noticeable part of the operations to be performed a priori, thus achieving an important computation time saving.

Abstract:We provide two proofs of the compactness theorem for extensions of first‐order logic based on team semantics. First, we build upon Lück's [16] ultraproduct construction for team semantics and prove a suitable version of Łoś' Theorem. Second, we show that by working with suitably saturated models, we can generalize the proof of Kontinen and Yang [13] to sets of formulas with arbitrarily many variables.

Abstract:Model theory, machine learning, and combinatorics each have generalizations of VC-dimension for fuzzy and real-valued versions of set systems. These different dimensions define a unique notion of a VC-class for both fuzzy sets and real-valued functions. We study these VC-classes, obtaining generalizations of certain combinatorial results from the discrete case. These include appropriate generalizations of $\varepsilon$-nets, the fractional Helly property and the $(p,q)$-theorem. We then apply these results to continuous logic. We prove that NIP for metric structures is equivalent to an appropriate generalization of honest definitions, which we use to study externally definable predicates and the Shelah expansion. We then examine distal metric structures, providing several equivalent characterizations, in terms of indiscernible sequences, distal types, strong honest definitions, and distal cell decompositions.

In this paper, we investigate the topological structure of the space <math>Ke(X)</math> of fuzzy compacta of a separable metric space X with the Hausdorff metric. In particular, we prove that <math>Ke(X)≈ℓ2</math> if X is an infinite, locally compact, locally connected, connected and separable metric space.

Abstract:We analyze the connection between two perspectives when defining fuzzy sets: the viewpoint of mappings and the viewpoint of families of level cuts. This analysis is mathematically supported by the framework of a categorical adjunction, which serves as a dictionary between these two perspectives. We prove that hesitant fuzzy sets and gradual sets are strongly related through this connection. This allows concepts and operations to be transferred from one class to the other, and vice versa. Concretely, as an application, we provide lattice operations on gradual sets, compatible with Zadeh's max-min operations on fuzzy sets, when considering them as families of level cuts. We discuss the well-known representation theorem for fuzzy sets within this framework, and we show that the representation of fuzzy sets as gradual sets depends on the chosen embedding of fuzzy sets as hesitant fuzzy sets. Hence, distinct embeddings yield diverse representations of fuzzy sets as collections of subsets. Furthermore, we extend this methodology to include other classes of extended fuzzy sets. As a consequence, a representation theorem for interval-valued fuzzy sets is provided.

Abstract:In this paper, Lowen's strong fuzzy compactness and ultra-fuzzy compactness of I-topological spaces are extended to L-subsets, for L—a complete lattice. The properties of strong fuzzy compact L-subsets and ultra-fuzzy compact L-subsets are studied in detail here, and comparisons between these notions as well as the notion of N-compactness are shown.

Abstract:By defining a partial ordering relation on the Vague domain of unit interval I,a definition of Vague sets on a lattice V(I) was given.Applying the classic extension principle,the corresponding Vague logical operators defined on V(I) were constructed with continuous fuzzy triangular norms, negator and continuous fuzzy implicators.The representations of the generalized intersection/union,complementary operation and implications on Vague sets were introduced in the context.Some basic properties of Vague logical operations were summarized.It enriches the conceptual framework of Vague sets,and will enlarge its applications on such fields as logic,linguistic and inference,as well as the information representation and processing.

Abstract:An algebraic setting for the validity of Pavelka style completeness for some natural expansions of Łukasiewicz logic by new connectives and rational constants is given. This algebraic approach is based on the fact that the standard MV-algebra on the real segment $[0, 1]$ is an injective MV-algebra. In particular the logics associated with MV-algebras with product and with divisible MV-algebras are considered.

Abstract:In [This Zeitschrift 25 (1979), 45-52, 119-134, 447-464], Pavelka systematically discussed propositional calculi with values in enriched residuated lattices and developed a general framework for approximate reasoning. In the first part of this paper we introduce the concept of generalized quantifiers into Pavelka's logic and establish the fundamental theorem of ultraproduct in first order Pavelka's logic with generalized quantifiers. In the second part of this paper we show that the fundamental theorem of ultraproduct in first order Pavelka's logic is preserved under some direct product of lattices of truth values.
