Abstract:Smart grid (SG) offers great advantages in renewable energy integration and has become a popular trend of modern power development recently; meanwhile China is the second most prolific country using SG. Hence the purpose of this study is to get access to the research status, development, and trends of SG in China based on the 3,558 published papers obtained from the WOS core library and application of the bibliometric method and visualization analysis software VOSviewer and alluvial diagrams. The results consequently demonstrate some valuable insights. Firstly, the volume of publications in China's SG is on the rise, and the cooperation between countries and institutions is getting closer. Besides, the research hotspots have obvious interdisciplinary characteristics. Taking into consideration the impact of the information and communication field on SG, the major current research hotspots include wireless sensor network (WSN), internet of things (IoT), smart meter, big data, and security. Taking into consideration the impact of SG on traditional power systems, the main hotspots cover demand response, micro-grid, distributed generation, and electric vehicle (EV). Furthermore, China's SG research shows a trend from a single theme to diversified development. The research themes during 2010-2018 have deepened with most studies focusing on the traditional power system. The findings of this paper provide some enlightenment on China's SG research, which can present scholars with an overview of the macro perspective, help them understand the latest development of the SG field in China and offer useful guidance for future research in this subject as well.

Abstract:Grid computing presents a new trend to distributed computation and Internet applications, which can construct a virtual single image of heterogeneous resources, provide uniform application interface and integrate widespread computational resources into super, ubiquitous and transparent aggregation. In the adoption of Grid computing, China, who is facing more resource heterogeneity and other specific demands, has put much effort on both research and practical utilization. In this paper, we introduce the major China Grid research projects and their perspective applications. First we give the overview of the four government-sponsored programs in Grid, namely the China National Grid, ChinaGrid, NSFC Grid, and ShanghaiGrid. Then we present six representative ongoing Grid systems in details, which are categorized into Grid middleware and Grid application. This paper provides the general picture of Grid computing in China, and shows the great efforts, devotion and confidence in China to use Grid technology to boost the society, economics and scientific research.

Abstract:The statistic of geographical conditions is the primary premise for the deep excavation and application of geographical data . However , the traditional centralized data storage and processing method based on a single computer are time-consuming ,inefficient and even unsupported .This paper creates a strategy called "Grid Index +MapReduce" to solve these problems .Firstly ,we design a blocking file organization and distributed storage mode of the census data of geographical situation based on the regular square grid ,and then make a double layer filtering method which combines the grid index and the accurate analysis .Lastly ,we build a parallel processing algorithm of statistic of the geography conditions based on MapReduce . The test results of performance comparison of the strategy of "Grid Index + MapReduce",the indexless MapReduce and ArcGIS software show that the method of"Grid Index + MapReduce" is much more efficient than the ArcGIS software ,and also has obvious efficiency advantages for the indexless MapReduce method . The study tries to provide an optimal scheme for the high-performance ,multi-type and high-volume statistic and analysis method for the data of geographical condition survey .

Abstract:International academic awards are not only compelling signs of personal academic excellence, but also play a significant role in evaluating the performance of institutions and countries. However, limited literature about awards in social sciences means that many major international academic awards are still unrecognized. Here we collect 180 international academic awards in eight subjects and gauge their relative reputations through online surveys. Moreover, we visualize the awards network based on the relative reputation scores and the number of co-awardees among them by using Gephi software. Finally, we adopt a statistical approach to analyze the structure of the awards network and find that the co-awardee frequencies follow a power-law distribution, which indicates that the awards network is a scale-free network. Our result suggests that a hierarchical status exists among international academic awards in social sciences, which may help us enhance the understanding of the Matthew effect in the academic awards system.

Abstract:The goal of ShanghaiGrid is providing information services to the people. ShanghaiGrid is a long term plan sponsored by Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality with 50 million RMB funds (about 6 million USD) from the government and others. It aims at constructing metropolis-area information services grid infrastructure and establishing an open standard for widespread upper-layer applications from both research communities and official departments. This paper reviews the state of the art of the advances in ShanghaiGrid, the one of the top five grand grid projects in China.

Abstract:China relies heavily on coal for meeting its huge energy requirements, and strives for the clean utilization of coal. In this paper, a bibliometric and visualized analysis is carried out to quantitatively evaluate the academic output of China's coal research during 2000–2015. All academic publications (in English-language journals) with “COAL” in the title by Chinese authors were extracted from the Web of Science (SCI-EXPANDED) database. After examining 16989 articles published worldwide, China's share reached 28.9% and its annual publications had a more than 15-times increase over this period. ENERGY FUELS, ENGINEERING CHEMICAL, ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES and GEOSCIENCES MULTIDISCIPLINARY were the major subject categories. The top 20 journals together accounted for 46.0% of the journal articles by Chinese authors. China held five academic entities among the world's top 10 active institutions, and CHINA UNIVERSITY OF MINING TECHNOLOGY, CHINESE ACADEMY OF SCIENCES, TSINGHUA UNIVERSITY, HUAZHONG UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY and TAIYUAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY were the five most productive research institutes. The rich and vibrant activity of China's coal research in nearly all aspects of coal science was identified by the Wordle word-cloud analysis, focusing on coal mining, coal gasification or pyrolysis, coal combustion and pollutant control. The word frequencies of COMBUSTION, GAS, MINE, GASFICATION, ASH, PYROLYSIS, COAL-FIRED, BED, POWER, PULVERIZED, MINING and METHANE were the prevalent topics. CARBON, WATER, EMISSION and MERCURY were more prominent than the decade before. The evolution of research hotspots displayed noticeable variations to suit the country's coal research demand. As an international center of coal research, the present capacities and potentials of Chinese scientific community will continuously influence future directions of global coal research and clean coal technology development.

Big data and artificial intelligence application in energy field: a bibliometric analysis

Abstract:This paper uses bibliometrics to characterize the knowledge systems of big data, artificial intelligence (AI), and energy based on the Science Citation Index Extension (SCI-E) and Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) of the Web of Science from 2001 to 2020. Results show that China is the country with the highest number of publications (1115), accounting for 29% of the total; however, the most influential country in the field is the USA, with an h-index of 75. The Chinese Academy of Sciences publishes the largest number of papers (104) and plays a vital role in the collaboration network. The study also reveals that the IEEE Access is the most productive journal (195) in terms of the number of publications, and engineering is the most popular discipline (1526). The key theoretical foundation includes deep learning (293), big data (105), energy consumption (79), and reinforcement learning (40). The application of big data and AI in the field of energy focuses on smart grid, energy consumption, and renewable energy. Early research frontiers involve optimization and prediction of energy-related problems using the genetic algorithm and neural networks. Since 2013, energy big data have gained prominence. At present, machine learning, deep learning, and fog computing are frequently combined with energy saving. In the future, big data and AI will be utilized to promote the application of renewable energy and energy-saving renovation of buildings. These findings can help researchers understand the developmental trends and correctly grasp the research direction and method of the emerging interdisciplinary field.

Abstract:Grid is a promising platform for executing large-scale resource intensive applications,which makes it a brilliant star in the network of the next generation.Computational Grids provide a mechanism for regulating the demand and supply of Grid resources.It offers incentive for resource owners to be part of the Grid and encourages consumers to optimally utilize resources and balance timeframe and access costs.Firstly,a general Grid model GRACE is introduced.Then discussion is made on resource management and scheduling,and the main scheduling algorithms currently prevailing in this area are summarized and compared for further research.

Abstract:Urban mining has been promoted globally in order to recover secondary resources. In this paper, a bibliometric and visual analysis on urban mining related research articles collected from the Web of Science (WOS) database between 1993 and 2018 was conducted. The results show that in total 277 publications were published in 108 journals. Waste management, Journal of Cleaner Production, and Resources Conservation & Recycling were the top three most productive journals. 501 authors published their urban mining related papers and the top three most productive authors are Krook J, Hogland W, and Fellner J. Based on co-citation cluster analysis, the intellectual bases and research hot topics on urban mining were analyzed. The co-citation network was divided into 7 clusters, including enhanced landfill mining, metal recycling, e-waste, urban mining, landfill mining, metal stocks, and GIS. Finally, keywords burst detection was conducted to track the hot topics and research trend. The hot topics have switched from recycling, metal stock, and life cycle assessment to waste electrical and electronic equipment. This study provides a research landscape and future research directions of urban mining research so that future researchers can identify their research topics and partners.

Abstract:Computation grid is the infrastructure for the next generation internet. In the past five years, research ongrid technology has been thriving and grid technology has been widely adopted by a number of government organiza-tions and research institutions to establish their own large-scale resource sharing network. This paper presents a re-view of recent research on elemental grid technology. We focus on a brief overview on Grid's protocol architecture. Inthe end, we list a series of large projects to illustrate the current application situation based on the ongoing grid tech-nology and preview the tendency of grid technology in the future.

Abstract:Grids aim at constructing a virtual single image of heterogeneous resources and provide uniform interface for distributed internet applications. China also devotes much passion and endeavour to the evolution of grid projects. Based on the experience in building and enhancing Chinese grids in collaboration with colleagues from around the globe, it is important to choose grid technologies that support and work on a wide variety of resources. Grid middleware research and development in China is described in this paper. First we give the overview of the three government-sponsored grid programmes, namely, China National Grid, ChinaGrid and NSFCGrid. Then three representative grid middleware, ChinaGrid Support Platform (CGSP), China National Grid Operation System (GOS), China Research and Development Environment Over Wide-area Network (CROWN) are introduced in detail from six aspects: design motivation, architecture, function modules, main features, interoperability, current status and applications. Finally, we abstract the main characteristics of these three middleware systems and put forward a comparison among them.

Abstract:Abstract From the perspective of bibliometrics, the important indicators of 4282 ESI highly cited papers in the field of computer science are analysed in this article, including publication time, countries/regions, institutions, journals, and keywords. China Mainland and the USA occupy a dominant position. The institutions with high number of papers and citations are mainly from China Mainland and the USA. The number of highly cited papers in China Mainland is increasing year by year. Most of the highly cited papers are dominated by international cooperation. Clusters of keywords through VOSviewer is to show the research hotspots that focus on algorithm optimization, isogeometric analysis, 5G communication, cloud computing, group decision making, etc.
