Abstract:Upon treatment with Cs2CO3, S-methyl-N-ynonylsulfoximines undergo 5-exo-dig cyclizations to give three-dimensional heterocycles. The reactions proceed at ambient temperature with a wide range of substrates affording the corresponding products in good to excellent yields.

Abstract:We prepared numerous thiazole derivatives from push‐pull alkenes such as nitroenamines, enaminoester, and enaminonitrils in a two‐step reaction with thiocyanate ion. The first step was the formation of the thiocyanate‐substituted push‐pull alkene from an iodine‐containing intermediary. We demonstrated this sequence through the preparation and identification of the iodine‐substituted enamines. In the second step, thiazole ring closure took place in methanol, at room temperature. The imino group of the condensed thiazole ring systems was successfully acylated. The same reaction sequence with potassium selenocyanate resulted in two selenocyanate and a selenazole heterocyclic derivatives. The mechanism of the reaction with thiocyanate ion and the heterocycle formation was investigated by computational methods. We performed quantum chemical calculations, involving both the thermodynamic and the kinetic aspects of the ring closure reaction.

Abstract:The reactions of Cp*ReCl4 with polychalcogenide salts such as Na2S4 or (NEt4)2Se6 lead initially to the violet trichalcogenido chelate complexes Cp*ReCl2(E3) (E = S (3a), Se (3b)) which, due to their functional chloro ligands, can be used as intermediates for further reactions. Upon hydrolysis in moist solvents or aminolysis with tert.butylamine, 3 a, b are converted into the tetrachalcogenido chelate complexes Cp*Re(O)(E4) (E = S (4a), Se (4b)) and Cp*Re(N(t)Bu)(E4) (E = S (5 a), Se (5b)), respectively. X-Ray structure analyses were carried out for the three mononuclear cyclo-oligoselenido compounds 3b-5b. It appears that the size of the Se(n)2- chelate ring (n = 3 or 4) essentially depends on steric factors within the coordination sphere of rhenium.

Abstract:4-Methylsulfanylpyridinium and -quinolinium salts 3 and 4 with alkyl groups such as methyl, allyl, benzyl, ethoxycarbonylmethyl, benzoylmethyl on the nitrogen atom were prepared by the Menschutkin-type reaction and some of them caused to react under either the thiolysis or selenolysis reaction conditions. N-Substituted pyridine-4-thiones 5 a - c and quinoline-4-thiones 6 a - e were formed at different rates in high isolated yield. On the other hand, two N-alkyl-4-selenopyridones 7 a,b together with three 4-selenoquinolones, 8 a,b,c were also produced in high chemical purity and characterized spectroscopically. In addition, 4, sulfanylpyridone 12 and 4-selenopyridone 13 with a N-tert-butyl group were obtained via Zincke's salt 9. The overall process provides a useful alternative to the otherwise difficult direct N-alkylation of thioxo- and selenoxopyridine systems.

Abstract:The title compound, a selenonium bromide, C17H33OSeSi+center dot-Br-, was obtained from the reaction of enantiomerically pure 4,7,7-trimethyl-2-methylselanylbicyclo[2.2.1] heptan-3-ol and (3-bromopropenyl) trimethylsilane in acetone. Due to the chiral bicyclic substituent, the crystal structure is not centrosymmetric and has no symmetry plane, with four chiral C atoms in the cation. The asymmetric unit contains one selenonium cation and one bromide anion. C-H center dot center dot center dot Br and O-H center dot center dot center dot Br hydrogen bonds link the ions, forming a one-dimensional R-helical chain-like supramolecular structure.

Abstract:Benzothieno[2,3-b]thiophenes, [2,3-b:3′,2′-d]-dithienothiophenes, and their selenium derivatives were synthesized in good yields from readily available 3-ethynyllithio-benzo[b]thiophenyllithio compounds, sulfur or selenium, and 2equiv of acid chlorides. Two heteroarene rings were constructed by a twofold cyclization via an acid chloride-induced electrophilic ring closing and the McMurry cyclization using Zn/TiCl4 reagents.

Abstract:We describe here the synthesis of isoselenochromenes via a nucleophilic selenocyclization reaction of benzodiynes with sodium selenide. The central parameters that affect this cyclization reaction were studied, and the best reaction conditions were applied to different substrates to determine the scope of the method. The results indicated that isoselenochromenes were obtained in higher yields when the reactions were performed by the addition of NaBH4 (3 equiv), at room temperature, under nitrogen atmosphere, to a solution of elemental selenium (2 equiv) in dimethylformamide (2 mL). After 1 h, a benzodiynes (0.25 mmol) solution in EtOH (2 mL) was added at room temperature. The reaction was stirred at 75 oC until the starting material was consumed. The best conditions were applied to benzodiynes having electron‐rich, electron poor aromatic rings, and alkyl groups directly bonded to the alkynes. The same reaction condition was extended to isothiochromene derivatives but failed to prepare isotelurochromenes. The isoselenochromenes were easily transformed into three new classes of organoselenium compounds using classical methods available in the literature. We also conducted several control experiments to propose a reaction mechanism.

Abstract:An interesting sequential three-component reaction provides a facile synthesis of selenium/sulfur-substituted 3-oxabicyclo[4.2.0]octa-1(8),5-diene and tetrahydro-1H-isochromene from lithium alkylselenolates or alkylthiolates, 1-alkynylphosphine oxides, and aldehydes. The sequential reaction proceeds via a conjugate addition/condensation/elimination process to form the allene intermediate, which subsequently underwent [2 + 2] or [4 + 2] cyclization reaction to afford bicyclic frameworks.

Abstract:The reaction of hydrazide with carbonyl chloride in the presence of sodium carbonates leads to the corresponding 1,2-diacylhydrazines vertical bar 1a-t, (RC)-C-1(O)NHNHC(O)R-2, R-1 = aryl, R-2 = or alkyl vertical bar in moderate to excellent yield (57-90%). The latter reacts with 2,4-diphenyl-1,3-diselenadiphosphetane-2,4-diselenide (Woolins' reagent, WR) in refluxing toluene to give a series of new 2,5-disubstituted 1,3,4-selenadiazoles (2a-t, 51-99% yield). Abstract:2,3-Disubstituted benzo[b]selenophenes have been prepared by the electrophilic cyclization of various 1-(1-alkynyl)-2-(methylseleno)arenes by Br2, NBS, I2, ICl, PhSeCl, PhSeBr, and Hg(OAc)2. This method tolerates a wide variety of functional groups, including alcohol, ester, nitrile, nitro, and silyl groups, and proceeds under exceptionally mild reaction conditions.

Abstract:Abstract In this paper the synthesis of some 1,2,3-Selenadiazoles derivative is reported . Acetophenone (A) , Cyclohexanone (B) and menthone (C) each was treated with p-toluensulfoyl hydrazide in ethanol to give tosylhydrazones (1-3) , their cyclization with selenium dioxide gave 1,2,3-selenadiazoles (4-6) . Semicarbazone derivatives (7-9) were obtained by from (A-C) by their reaction with semicarbazide hydrochloride , treatment of semicarbazone (7-9) with selenium dioxide gave 1,2,3-Selenadiazoles (4-6). Compounds (A-C) were treatment with ethyl hydrazenoacetate to give the corresponding ethyl ester (10-12) .

Abstract:The iron (ІІІ)‐promoted tandem cyclization of 1‐(2‐(allyloxy)aryl)‐1H‐indoles with diselenides has been developed for the preparation of seleno‐benzo[2,3][1,4]oxazepino[4,5‐a]indole derivatives. The investigation to determine the best reaction conditions indicated the use of 1‐(2‐(allyloxy)aryl)‐1H‐indoles (0.2 mmol) with diselenides (1.5 equiv) and iron(III) chloride (1.5 equiv) in acetonitrile at room temperature under air, and more than 40 examples were obtained. The reaction features access to selenized 7‐membered containing nitrogen‐oxygen heterocyclic skeleton, which also represents a 7‐exo‐trig cyclization process of 1‐(2‐((2‐methylallyl)oxy)aryl)‐1H‐indoles and diselenides.

Abstract:Starting from the halfsandwich compound Cp★Re(O)Cl2, the chalcogen-bridged binuclear complexes Cp★2Re2(μ-E4)2 (E  S, Se), Cp★2Re2O2(μ-E)(μ-E2)(E  S, Se) and Cp★2Re2O2(μ-E)2 (E  Se, Te) have been prepared by reaction with oligochalcogenides and subsequent chalcogen abstraction using tertiary phosphanes, PR3. The molecular structures in the crystalline state of three selenium compounds have been determined by X-ray structure analyses; in contrast to the oxo complexes, the oxygen-free compounds Cp★2Re2(μ-E4) are distinguished by a strong intramolecular ReRe interaction (d(ReRe) 2.692 (1)Å in Cp★2Re2(μ-Se4)2, d(Re … Re) 4.32 Å and 3.77 Å in Cp★2Re2O2(μ-Se) (μ-Se2) and Cp★ 2Re2O2(μ-Se)2, respectively). The reactions of Cp★Re(O)Cl2 with either Na2S4 or (NEt4)2Se6 lead initially to the mononuclear cyclo-tetrachalcogenide compounds Cp★Re(O)(E4) (E  S, Se), which can then be converted into the binuclear complexes. However, Cp★2Re2O2(μ-Te)2 was directly formed in the reaction between Cp★Re(O)Cl2 and (NnBu4)2Te5.

Abstract:Imidazolium‐ylides are conjugated mesomeric betaines with an exocyclic anionic carbon substituent. These ylides were converted by deprotonation into anionic N‐heterocyclic carbenes, which can be formulated with two negative charges on the carbene carbon atom due to their origin. Subsequent reaction with selenium gave anionic selenourea compounds. In the past, the use of nitrogen ylides focused primarily on cycloadditions, where the 1,3‐dipole was used as a building block for the formation of heterocycles such as pyrroles or pyrrolinones. In this work, we present a new perspective on imidazolium dicyanomethylides with their synthesis and utilization as anionic N‐heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs). The values of relative carbene formation energies (CREF) for a wide range of substituted imidazolium ylides unknown in the literature showed promising properties. In situ trapping reactions of these anionic NHCs with selenium led to anionic, water‐soluble compounds that exhibited remarkable coordination behavior according to X‐ray structure analyses. In addition, the 77Se shifts of the investigated compounds were measured to draw conclusions about their π‐acceptance.
