Abstract:A structure of buck DC/DC converter based on analog-feedback is proposed.The output voltage is stable and the ripple voltage is small as the input voltage and the load change.The whole DC/DC converter is simulated by Hspice based on UMC0.18μm model parameter,and the simulation results are provided.

Abstract:A current-mode DC-DC buck converter with high stability independent of load and supply voltage is presented. The loop gain's expression of the current-mode converter is derived by employing an advanced model of current-mode control converter. After analyzing the loop gain's expression, which illustrates the method of selecting suitable frequency compensation for control-loop, and a novel pole-zero tracking frequency compensation is proposed. Based on theoretic analysis, a DC-DC buck converter which has high stability independent of load and supply voltage is designed with 0.5 mum-CMOS technology. The simulated results revealed that stability of the converter is independent of load current and input voltage. Moreover, the converter provides a full load transient response of less than 5 mus setting time and less than 30 mV overshoots and undershoots

Abstract:A two-stage DC/DC converter of boost cascaded topology is presented to satisfy low input voltage,high input current,low input current ripple and high-gain requirements of energy feedback electronic load system.The first stage is the interleaved boost converter,which meets the high input current requirement and reduces the input current ripple.The two cascaded stages can achieve high-gain easily.The analysis of the operation theory and design process of input current loop are presented.The fixed input current control and equilibrium of interleaved boost inductance currents are implemented based on DSP.Finally,a 330W prototype with 3.3V-input and 48V-output is built.Experiment results meet the requirements of energy feedback electronic load system and verify the theoretical analysis.

Abstract:Aiming at the input with low voltage and large current,high gain,and high efficiency special requirements of the DC/DC module in the energy-feedback electronic load,the inventional circuit topologies and techniques were analyzed.A novel input parallel and output series topology which increases the step-up gain with the coupled inductance was introduced.Meanwhile,the soft-switching was implemented with the active clamp circuits.An interleaved parallel converter was designed based on this new topology to meet the large power requirement and decrease the current ripple effectively.Then the dead-time,winding ratio of the transformer and magnetizing inductance were analyzed,the fixed input current control of the converter with DSP was realized.The experimental results demonstrate that this scheme is feasible,the converter operates stably with high efficiency.
Magnetic Integration Structure for Two-Stage DC-DC Converters

Abstract:For the two-stage DC-DC converters of 48-V input with low-voltage and high-current output,a magnetic integration structure including two inductors and one transformer is proposed.It features the maximum utility ratio of the core window areas and can reduce the copper loss and improve the heat dissipation of the integrated magnetics.By applying the proposed structure to integrate the magnetic components,a 90-W prototype of the "buck-cascaded half-bridge" DC-DC converter was implemented.The experimental results show that the converter's original operating characteristics can be kept by using the proposed magnetic integration structure.Based on the experimental results,the power loss of the integrated magnetics was analyzed and further some optimization suggestions were given.

Abstract:Buck and push-pull cascade and current-fed DC/DC converter is introduced.The voltage stresses on push-pull switching devices and rectifiers are low and are not influenced by input voltage.This converter is fit for wider input voltage ranges.The principle is analyzed.The design procedures of the current-fed push-pull converter's power stage,control circuit and high frequency transformer are introduced.A prototype of 36～72 V input,5 V/50 W output is built up and the experi-mental results are given.

Abstract:Synchronous rectifier lower voltage circuit DC/DC converter uses the MOSFET which has smaller on-resistance and faster speed instead of the freewheel diode in the freewheeling circuit.The free-wheeling loss is reduced.The efficienty of DC-DC converter is improved and the problem of dead zone voltage which is caused by the Schottky barrier voltage is eliminated.A 5 kW buck circuit which is controlled by PWM using the synchronous rectification is designed.Saber is an accurate and efficient circuit simulation software.Using saber to simulate the design,the circuit's output 48 V steadily and the average value of the input current achieves 105 A is shown in the results when the value of the input voltage changes from 60 to 90 V.

Abstract:An on-chip frequency compensation structure for the current mode DC-DC converter is presented.With an integrated RC network,it realizes the loop frequency compensation and overcomes the drawback of stability dependency on load resistance due to the output ceramic capacitor's low effective series resistance,which reduces the pin numbers,saves the PCB space and stabilizes the chip.Also the optimized feedback network makes the crossover frequency insensitive to the change of the output voltage,improving the load step response further.A DC-DC buck converter with a proposed structure has been fabricated with a 0.5 μm CMOS process for validation.The measurement results show good stability.Both load and line regulations are less than 0.4%.And the output voltage can be recovered within 8 μs for a 400 mA load step.The occupied PCB space is also reduced 14%.

Abstract:This paper presents a step-up/step-down DC-DC converter with three operation modes to achieve high efficiency and small output ripple voltage. A constant time buck-boost mode, which is inserted between buck mode and boost mode, is proposed to achieve smooth transition. With the proposed mode, the output ripple voltage is significantly reduced when the input voltage is approximate to the output voltage. Besides, the novel control scheme minimizes the conduction loss by reducing the average inductor current and the switching loss by making the converter operate like a buck or boost converter. The small signal model of the stepup/step-down DC-DC converter is also derived to guide the compensation network design. The step-up/step-down converter is designed with a 0.5 mu m CMOS n-well process, and can regulate an output voltage within the input voltage ranged from 2.5 V to 5.5 V with a maximum power efficiency of 96%. The simulation results show that the proposed converter exhibits an output ripple voltage of 28 mV in the transition mode.

Abstract:A high performance of DC-DC convertor is presented.To improve the stability of output,the DC-DC convertor is implemented with differential amplifier and feedback,meanwhile,a bandgap reference is used to enhance temperature characteristic.At the same time,the convertor has the advantages of a simple structure,a rapid speed,a high driving ability as well as a low power waste.The Hspice simulation results using 0.6μm CMOS process model show that the output voltage can stabilize at 3V when the input voltage changes from 4.4V to 6.1V.

Abstract:In this paper, a new non-isolated switched-capacitor/switched-inductor based bidirectional dc-dc transformerless converter with high voltage conversion ratio is proposed. The proposed converter is able to provide improved voltage gain with lower voltage stresses on switches and its number of components is less than other compared similar switched-capacitor bidirectional DC-DC converters. In addition, the voltage stresses on switches and diodes of the proposed converter is low, as a result, the switching losses are decreased. Due to the expandable structure of the proposed converter, the voltage gain of the proposed converter can be increased by adding more diode-capacitor cells at output side. In this paper, the proposed converter is analyzed theoretically during a switching period which has two operating modes for both boost and buck operations. Moreover, the average current through the switches, diodes and inductors, voltage stresses on switches and diodes, voltage gain, maximum and minimum current of switches and diodes are calculated for boost and buck operations. Finally, in order to verify the accuracy performance of the proposed converter, a 200-W 25 to 448 V prototype is implemented practically.
Large-signal model by means of gyrators for buck converters

Abstract:The large signal behavior of power electronics converter is important for system operation, such as startup and load transient. With the wide application of DC distributed power system, the system level optimization and stability analysis is still not well addressed due to the lack of effective large-signal model. This paper presents a new large-signal modeling method for DC-DC converter using the principle of energy conservation. A reduced-order large-signal model of a Buck converter is derived using gyrator based on energy conservation. This linearized model can also simulate the large-signal load transition under different conditions (such as CCM and DCM), which is suitable for system level modeling and large signal stability analysis for cascaded system. The simulation and experimental results are also presented to show the model can accurately reflect the characteristics of ports of the power module, which verifies the effectiveness of the modeling method.
A magnetic integration structure for the buck-cascaded half-bridge DC-DC converter

Abstract:Existing magnetic integration methods can be classified into three kinds: the non-coupled, the coupled, and their "mixtures". They, having different features, are appropriate for different applications. For the buck- cascaded half-bridge (duty cycle a 50%) DC-DC converter, the analysis results show that the non-coupled magnetic integration methods are preferred. In this paper, a non- coupled magnetic integration structure including two inductors and one transformer is proposed for it. In the proposed structure, the limited window areas of the magnetic cores are fully utilized. With the increase of the winding cross-section areas and the heat dissipation surface area, the copper loss of the integrated magnetics can be reduced and the cooling condition of it can be improved. A quarter-brick prototype of the buck-cascaded half-bridge DC-DC converter with 48-V input and 1.5-V/60-A output is implemented and tested to verify the feasibility of the proposed magnetic integration structure. With the experimental data, the power loss of the integrated magnatics has been analyzed. Finally, some optimization proposals are offered.

Abstract:A non-isolated high step-down voltage conversion ratio DC-DC topology is introduced in this paper. The proposed converter has a two-phase interleaved buck on its output side, in the meantime, having a switched-capacitor topology based on Dickson charge pump in its input side, the novel converter integrates two-stage converter based on switched-capacitor and two-phase interleaved buck, which makes its active switches reduced by half. Therefore, the novel converter combines advantages of switched-capacitor and two-phase interleaved buck, it has these features of high voltage gain, low voltage stress across these active switches and low output current ripple. It is very suitable for applications required high voltage gain and power density. A hardware prototype of the proposed converter with V in =100V and V o =12V has been built to verify its performance, the experimental results reach a good agreement with theoretical analysis, the peak efficiency of 60W prototype reaches 94.7%.

Abstract:Bidirectional DC-DC converters play a very important role in energy storage systems. High voltage conversion ratio, high efficiency and economy are challenging issues for the research and development of advanced bidirectional DC-DC converters. In this paper, the modeling and control of a new non-isolated high step-up/down bidirectional DC-DC converter is studied. This converter is a combination of buck-boost and dual-active-half-bridge converter. It features wide-range high voltage conversion ratio and high efficiency due to full soft switching. However, the circuit coupling causes troubles in control stability. For instance, in island boost mode, oscillation easily occurs if output voltage of high-pressure is still directly regulated by shifted phase. Hence A dynamically accurate enough model is required for analysis and more stable control method is needed. For the modeling, scholars have made some research on calculating power delivered by the transformer with its series inductor current, but they have not taken the series inductor current as a state variable in full frequency domain. Such methods achieve good outcomes in steady-state, but are at a cost of dynamic inaccuracy more or less. In this paper, an average modeling technique which considers transformer series inductor current as a state variable in full frequency domain for dynamic accuracy is proposed. A decoupled control is also proposed to achieve a leap in stability. Simulation and experiment results are also presented to verify the proposed average model and the decoupled control.
Analysis and Design of Multi-Mode Buck DC/DC Converter

Abstract:To improve the efficiency of DC-DC converter at light load condition, a multi-mode high efficiency buck regulator was proposed.The circuit operates in different working modes for different load conditions, i.e.PWM mode for heavy/medium load conditions and Burst modulation mode for light load condition, which results in obvious improvement of efficiency at light load condition.The converter was designed and simulated in 1.5 μm BCD technology.Simulation results showed that the converter had an efficiency above 90% and 80% at heavy and light load conditions, respectively.

Abstract:A high efficiency buck DC/DC converter was presented based on adaptive constant on-time(ACOT) control mode.With simple controller and no loop compensation,the circuit featured rapid transient response,very high conversion efficiency in full load range,and frequency concentration.Simulation was made based on 0.6μm 16 V CD process.Results showed that the converter had a conversion efficiency above 83% at light load,and a maximum efficiency up to 97% was achieved in full load range.Moreover,with a very fast transient response,the converter had a constant operating frequency,which did not change with input supply voltage.

Abstract:Buck converters are widely used in consumer electronics, electric vehicles, and dc microgrids. Small-signal models are necessary tools to design high-quality controllers. However, most of them neglect modulation waveform ripples, which introduces significant errors under high-bandwidth controls. Recently, two models explain the influences of nondifferentiable modulation waveform ripples by their left-side derivatives at crossing points. However, this conclusion is built on the premise that infinite sideband components caused by switching have been considered, which largely complicates these models. The accurate small-signal model with finite sideband components is proposed for nondifferentiable modulation waveform ripples in this article. Based on it, the stable working region and control design of wide-input high-bandwidth Buck converters are talked about. Simulations and experiments validate the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed model.
Stability Study on Current-Mode Controlled Buck Converter With Input Filter Based on Improved Discrete Approach

Abstract:From the accurate state equations,the stability of current-mode controlled Buck converter with input filter is investigated via numerical simulation. Simulation results show that the increase of Rf causes the slow-scale low-frequency oscillation while the increase of k gives rise to the fast-scale sub-harmonics. An improved discrete method is proposed,and is used to establish the discrete-time iterative map for the system with non-invertible coefficient matrix. Thanks to simulation results,the stability of the system is analyzed,and the stability boundary is also given. Finally,the results on stability are compared with those obtained from the existing criterion of input filter design. The shortage of the existing criterion is pointed out. This paper discusses the problem of input filter interaction with the cascaded converter,which is of instructive significance for the practical design.
