Abstract:There are some non-scientific phenomena of theoretical research of library science in China,such as looking down on theory and theoretical research,the vague localization of theoretical research,and so on.These phenomena have become a serious hindrance to the development of scientizing library science theory.Theoretical research should adhere to scientific thinking,promote to create a liberal academic environment,and give full consideration to the factor of users under the impact of postmodernism.It should focus on developing applied theory of library science,and utilize empirical research and the middle-level theory approach to construct scientized theory in future.

Abstract:The rapid development of science and technology has advanced the scientific transformation and resulted in scientific turn of humanistic ideas. For the adherence to the scientism, it is necessary to remove the ethical obstacles in the study of humanities and abandon the traditional objective thinking of the abstract ideology of "seeing is believing". Although the integration of humanities and science is the trend of our times, we should look for theories for its theoretical support and guidance. Most current theories are unable to fulfill this mission, so we need to find and construct new theories. The ethical literary criticism based on science can play a role in the integration of human literature and science. Only the literary theory combined with science can free us from the traditional ethical fetters, can we understand the humanities from the science, and find the way to break through the predicament of humanistic studies.

Abstract:Charles Williamson published The Place of Research in Library Service in Library Quarterly in January 1931.In this paper he proposed to promote the scientific nature of Library Science by quantitative method and other research methods from other disci-plines.At the same time,Graduate Library School of the University of Chicago advocated applying social sciences'research methods to Library Science,such as Douglas Waples'reading study.In June 1931,Charles Seymour Thompson criticized quantitative method in Do We Want a Library Science which brought about his debate with Douglas Waples on the scientification of Library Science.The core issue of this debate was the applicability of different research methods in Library Science.Its essence was the mutual adaptation to each other between old research paradigm and new research paradigm in the period of transformation.33 refs.

Abstract:Sixty years of Chinese library science research,after the founding of P.R.China,stepped forward in twisting road.This road is filled with farce,disgrace,vigorous work and puzzlement.Yet,the independent and freedom consciousness of Chinese library science can not absolutely establish in certain degree.The contents and harvest of Chinese library science research are full of official color.In research method,it can not be adept to amalgamating and intercrossing research.There is distinctive deficiency in subject self-reflection and subject construction with communication.In library science context,a bad trend appears,such as superficial library science knowledge and administrative promoting system.The successor of library science can not inherit well their former elite's excellent characters.All the above are the long-term problem in Chinese library science research.Only by overcoming the above problem,Chinese library science can develop in healthy way.

Abstract:Purpose The research in this paper aims to investigate the development of Library and Information Science in Chinese universities. Specifically, it focuses on understanding the spatial and temporal aspects of subject knowledge output and providing a more comprehensive explanation of the imbalance in subject research. Design/methodology/approach This study applies the bibliometric method to analyze 131,112 papers published by 51 universities in mainland China from 1977 to 2021, as recorded in the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI). The study classifies the evolution trends of the discipline and quantifies the published article data of the universities using the index of published articles. Additionally, it examines the development status, structural situation, influencing factors and prospects of universities in different categories and regions. Findings The field of Library and Information Science is gaining momentum in Chinese universities, but there are significant differences in its development. While the relative gap among universities in a regional context is diminishing, the absolute gap in the category perspective is increasing. The development of Library and Information Science is influenced by various factors, including the academic environment, geographical position, scientific research projects and academic traditions. The uneven development of the discipline is maintained in the short term. Originality/value This paper proposes a new quantitative index of discipline development, the university publication index. This index allows for an examination of the temporal and spatial trends of discipline development using domestic universities as the subject of research. The paper presents an overview of discipline development through four aspects: academic participation practice, discipline governance mechanisms, education and teaching systems and discourse construction within the discipline. The theoretical support provided by this study can help facilitate innovative development in the discipline.
