Abstract:Water pollution from synthetic dyes is a growing environmental concern and there is an urgent need for the development of eco-friendly, cost-effective, rapid, simple, and effective materials for the extraction of these persistent dyes from effluents. Herein, we synthesized AC/Ppy/CuPc nanocomposite from sucrose, pyrrole, and waste CuPc using a facile one-pot synthesis method. The prepared nanocomposite was employed for the effective removal of cationic dyes methylene blue (MB), malachite green (MG) and anionic dye acid orange II (AOG II). The influence of temperature, pH, amount of adsorbent, initial dye concentration, and contact time were investigated. Pollutant removal capacity of the synthesized material for methylene blue (MB), malachite green (MG), and acid orange II (AOG II) is up to ∼98.50%, 95.85%, and 93.67%, respectively, within 35 min from their initial concentration of 40 ppm. Kinetic data revealed that the adsorption phenomenon follows second-order kinetics. In contrast, the adsorption isotherm for MB follows the Langmuir isotherm, and AOG II follows the Freundlich isotherm. The experimental outcomes showed that the AC/Ppy/CuPc nanocomposite exhibits strong adsorption capacity and could be considered a very effective and promising material for both cationic and anionic dye removal from wastewater.
