Abstract:The Jacobian conjecture over a field of characteristic zero is considered directly in view of the nonlinear partial differential equations it is associated with. Exploring such partial differential equations, this work obtains broad families of polynomial maps satisfying the conjecture in all dimensions and of arbitrarily high degrees and henceforth affirmatively and constructively settles a reformulated multiply parametrized version of the conjecture in all dimensions.

Abstract:The Jacobian conjecture involves the map $y= x - V(x)$ where $y, x$ are n-dimensional vectors, $V(x)$ is a symmetric polynomial of degree $d$ for which the Jacobian hypothesis holds: $ e^{Tr \ln(1- V'(x))} =1,\ \forall x$. The conjecture states that the inverse map ($x$ as a function of $y$) is also polynomial. The proof is inspired by perturbative field theory. We express the inverse map $F(y)= y+ V(F(y))$ as a perturbative expansion which is a sum of partially ordered connected trees. We use the property : $\frac{d F_{k}}{dy_{k}}= (\frac{1}{1-V'(F)})_{k,k} =1+ \sum _{q\ge 1} \frac{1}{q} (Tr (V'(F))^{q})_{with\ q\ edges\ of\ index\ k}$ to extract inductively in the index $k$ all the sub traces in the expansion of the inverse map. We obtain $F= F(|\le n)\ \ e^{- Tr \ln(1-V'(F(|\le n)))}$ By the Jacobian hypothesis $e^{- Tr \ln(1-V'(F(|\le n)))} =1$ and a straightforward graphical argument gives that $degree \ in\ y \ of \ F(|\le n)\le d^{2^{n} -2}$

Abstract:The real Jacobian conjecture was posed by Randall in 1983. This conjecture asserts that if $F=\left(f_1,\ldots ,f_n\right):\mathbb{R}^n\rightarrow\mathbb{R}^n$ is a polynomial map such that $\det DF\left(\mathbf{x}\right)\neq0$ for all $\mathbf{x}\in\mathbb{R}^n$, then $F$ is injective. This investigation mainly consists of two parts. Firstly, we use the qualitative theory of dynamical systems to give an alternate proof of the polynomial version of the $n$-dimensional Hadamard's theorem. Secondly, we present some algebraic sufficient conditions for the $n$-dimensional real Jacobian conjecture. Our results not only extend the main result of [J. Differential Equations {\bf 260} (2016), 5250-5258] to quasi-homogeneous type, but also generalize it from $\mathbb{R}^2$ to $\mathbb{R}^n$. As a coproduct of our proof process, we solve an open problem formulated by Braun, Giné and Llibre in [J. Differential Equations {\bf 260} (2016), 5250-5258].

Abstract:In this paper, we study a so-called Condition C1 and a weaker Condition C2. For Druzkowski maps Condition C2 is equivalent to the Jacobian conjecture. Main results obtained: - Stating new equivalent formulations of the Jacobian conjecture. - Formulating some generalisations of the Jacobian conjecture and giving both theoretical and experimental evidences to support them. - Showing Condition C1 holds for a generic matrix of any given rank, is an invariant for a certain group action, and Condition C2 is an invariant for cubic similarity matrices. - Giving one heuristic argument for the truth of the Jacobian Conjecture. - Giving an effective (time saving) method to check whether a given Druzkowski map satisfies the Jacobian conjecture, explaining theoretically and checking on many examples including those previously considered by other authors. - Proposing approaches toward resolving the Jacobian conjecture. Showing that a generic Druzkowski map satisfies the criteria of some of these approaches (see Theorem 1.12), and hence expecting to be able to check these approaches for a given Druzkowski map very quickly. -As an application, proposing a strategy to use cubic similarity to check that Druzkowski maps of dimension $\leq 9$ satisfy the Jacobian conjecture.

Abstract:The real Jacobian conjecture claims that if $F=\left(f^1,\ldots,f^n\right):\mathbb{R}^n\rightarrow \mathbb{R}^n$ is a polynomial map such that $\det DF$ is nowhere zero, then $F$ is a global injective. The first part is to study the two-dimensional real Jacobian conjecture via the method of the qualitative theory of dynamical systems. By Bendixson compactification, an induced polynomial differential system can be obtained from the Hamiltonian system associated to polynomial map $F$. We prove that the following statements are equivalent: (A) $F$ is a global injective; (B) the origin of induced system is a center; (C) the origin of induced system is a monodromic singular point; (D) the origin of induced system has no hyperbolic sectors; (E) induced system has a $C^k$ first integral with an isolated minimun at the origin and $k\in\mathbb{N}^{+}\cup\{\infty\}$. Moreover, applying the above results we present a necessary and sufficient condition for the validity of the two-dimensional real Jacobian conjecture, which is an algebraic criterion. By definition a criterion function, $F$ is a global injective if and only if the limit of criterion function is infinite as $\left|x\right|+\left|y\right|$ tends to infinity. This algebraic criterion improves the main result of Braun et al [J. Differential Equations {\bf 260} (2016) 5250-5258]. In the second part, the necessary and sufficient conditions on the $n$-dimensional real Jacobian conjecture is obtained. Using the tool from the nonlinear functional analysis, $F$ is a global injective if and only if $\parallel F\left(\mathbf{x}\right)\parallel$ approaches to infinite as $\parallel\mathbf{x}\parallel\rightarrow\infty$, which is a generalization of the above algebraic criterion. As an application, we give an alternate proof of the Cima's result on the $n$-dimensional real Jacobian conjecture [Nonlinear Anal. {\bf 26} (1996) 877-885].

Abstract:The main result of this paper is to prove the strong real Jacobian conjecture under the symmetric assumption and reveals the link between it and the Jacobian conjecture. Precisely, we assume that $F: \mathbb{R}^n \to \mathbb{R}^n$ is of $C^1$ map, $n\geqslant 2$, if for some $\varepsilon >0$, $ 0\notin Spec(F)~~\mbox{and}~ Spec(F+F^T) \subseteq (-\infty,-\varepsilon)~\mbox{or} ~(\varepsilon,+\infty),$ where $Spec (F)$ denotes all eigenvalues of $JF$ and $Spec (F+F^T)$ denotes all eigenvalues of $JF+JF^T$, then we show that $F$ is injective. It is proved by using a minimax argument.

Abstract:An important problem in computational arithmetic geometry is to find changes of coordinates to simplify a system of polynomial equations with rational coefficients. This is tackled by a combination of two techniques, called minimisation and reduction. We give an algorithm for minimising certain pairs of quadratic forms, subject to the constraint that the first quadratic form is fixed. This has applications to 2-descent on the Jacobian of a genus 2 curve.

Abstract:The Jacobian scheme of a reduced, singular projective plane curve is the zero-dimensional scheme, whose homogeneous ideal is generated by the partials of its defining polynomial. The degree of such a scheme is called the global Tjurina number and, if the curve is not a set of concurrent lines, some upper and lower bounds depending on the degree of the curve and the minimal degree of a Jacobian syzygy, have been given by A.A. du Plessis and C.T.C. Wall. In this paper we give a complete geometric characterization of conic-line arrangenents, with global Tjurina number attaining the upper bound. Furthermore, we characterize conic-line arrangenents attaining the lower bound for the global Tjurina number, among all curves with a linear Jacobian syzygy. As an application, we characterize conic-line arrangenents with Jacobian scheme equal to an eigenscheme of some ternary tensor, and we study the geometry of their polar maps.

Abstract:Let $\pi\colon Y \to X$ be a branched cover of complex algebraic curves of respective genera $g(Y)=2$ and $g(X)=1$. The Jacobian of $Y$ is isogenous to the product of two elliptic curves: $\operatorname{Jac} Y \sim \operatorname{Jac} X \times \operatorname{Jac} W$. We present an explicit geometric construction of the complementary curve $W$. Furthermore, we establish a criterion to decide whether an algebraic correspondence of curves admits a push-out.

Abstract:Bernstein-Schwarzman conjectured that the quotient of a complex affine space by an irreducible complex crystallographic group generated by reflections is a weighted projective space. The conjecture was proved by Schwarzman and Tokunaga-Yoshida in dimension 2 for almost all such groups, and for all crystallographic reflection groups of Coxeter type by Looijenga, Bernstein-Schwarzman and Kac-Peterson in any dimension. We prove that the conjecture is true for the crystallographic reflection group in dimension 3 for which the associated collineation group is Klein's simple group of order 168. In this case the quotient is the 3-dimensional weighted projective space with weights 1, 2, 4, 7. The main ingredient in the proof is the computation of the algebra of invariant theta functions. Unlike the Coxeter case, the invariant algebra is not free polynomial, and this was the major stumbling block.

Abstract:We develop a probabilistic approach to the celebrated Jacobian conjecture, which states that any Keller map (i.e. any polynomial mapping $F\colon \mathbb{C}^n \to \mathbb{C}^n$ whose Jacobian determinant is a nonzero constant) has a compositional inverse which is also a polynomial. The Jacobian conjecture may be formulated in terms of a problem involving labellings of rooted trees; we give a new probabilistic derivation of this formulation using multi-type branching processes. Thereafter, we develop a simple and novel approach to the Jacobian conjecture in terms of a problem involving shuffling subtrees of $d$-Catalan trees, i.e. planar $d$-ary trees. We also show that, if one can construct a certain Markov chain on large $d$-Catalan trees which updates its value by randomly shuffling certain nearby subtrees, and in such a way that the stationary distribution of this chain is uniform, then the Jacobian conjecture is true. Finally, we use the local limit theory of large random trees to show that the subtree shuffling conjecture is true in a certain asymptotic sense, and thereafter use our machinery to prove an approximate version of the Jacobian conjecture, stating that inverses of Keller maps have small power series coefficients for their high degree terms.

Abstract:The Jacobian conjecture is a well-known open problem in affine algebraic geometry that asks if any polynomial endomorphism of the affine space $\mathbb{A}_{\mathbb{C}}^{n}$ ($n\geq2$) with jacobian $1$ is an automorphism. We present a survey about some results around this conjecture and we discuss an arithmetic aspect of this conjecture due to Essen-Lipton. We investigate some cases of this arithmetic approach showing the close relationship between the Jacobian Conjecture and the problem of counting $\mathbb{F}_p$-points of an affine scheme.

Abstract:In this paper, we give an explicit formula as well as a practical algorithm for computing the Cassels-Tate pairing on $\text{Sel}^{2}(J) \times \text{Sel}^{2}(J)$ where $J$ is the Jacobian variety of a genus two curve under the assumption that all points in $J[2]$ are $K$-rational. We also give an explicit formula for the Obstruction map $\text{Ob}: H^1(G_K, J[2]) \rightarrow \text{Br}(K)$ under the same assumption. Finally, we include a worked example demonstrating we can indeed improve the rank bound given by a 2-descent via computing the Cassels-Tate pairing.

Abstract:Let $(F,G)$ be a Jacobian pair with $d=w\text{-deg}(F)$ and $e=w\text{-deg}(G)$ for some direction $w$. A generalized Magnus' formula approximates $G$ as $\sum_{\gamma\ge 0} c_\gamma F^{\frac{e-\gamma}{d}}$ for some complex numbers $c_\gamma$. We develop an approach to the two-dimensional Jacobian conjecture, aiming to minimize the use of terms corresponding to $\gamma>0$. As an initial step in this approach, we define and study the inner polynomials of $F$ and $G$. The main result of this paper shows that the northeastern vertex of the Newton polygon of each inner polynomial is located within a specific region. As applications of this result, we introduce several conjectures and prove some of them for special cases.
