Abstract:We construct a non-proper set of two variables polynomial maps and study the nowhere vanishing Jacobian condition of the Jacobian conjecture for this set. We obtain some classes of polynomial maps satisfying the 2-dimensional Jacobian conjecture for both real and complex cases. We prove also that the complex conjecture is true until the degree 104.

Abstract:The famous Jacobian problem asks: Is a morphism $f:\mathbb{C}[x,y]\to \mathbb{C}[x,y]$ having an invertible Jacobian, invertible? If we add the assumption that $\mathbb{C}(f(x),f(y))=\mathbb{C}(x,y)$, then $f$ is invertible; this result is due to O. H. Keller (1939). We suggest the following slight generalization of Keller's theorem: If $f:\mathbb{C}[x,y]\to \mathbb{C}[x,y]$ is a morphism having an invertible Jacobian, and if there exist $n \geq 1$, $a \in \mathbb{C}(f(x),f(y))^*$ and $b \in \mathbb{C}(f(x),f(y))$ such that $(ax +b)^n \in \mathbb{C}(f(x),f(y))$, then $f$ is invertible. A similar result holds for $\mathbb{C}[x_1,\ldots,x_m]$.

Abstract:The Jacobian conjecture over a field of characteristic zero is considered directly in view of the nonlinear partial differential equations it is associated with. Exploring such partial differential equations, this work obtains broad families of polynomial maps satisfying the conjecture in all dimensions and of arbitrarily high degrees and henceforth affirmatively and constructively settles a reformulated multiply parametrized version of the conjecture in all dimensions.

Abstract:The present paper is devoted to investigating the two-dimensional real Jacobian conjecture. This conjecture claims that if $F=\left(f,g\right):\mathbb{R}^2\rightarrow \mathbb{R}^2$ is a polynomial map with $\det DF\left(x,y\right)\ne0$ for all $\left(x,y\right)\in\mathbb{R}^2$, then $F$ is globally injective. With the help of the Newton diagram, we provide a new sufficient condition such that the two-dimensional real Jacobian conjecture holds. Moreover, this sufficient condition generalizes the main result of [J. Differential Equations {\bf 260} (2016), 5250-5258]. Furthermore, two new classes of polynomial maps satisfying the two-dimensional real Jacobian conjecture are given.

Abstract:Let (V, 0) be an isolated hypersurface singularity defined by the holomorphic function f: (ℂ^n, 0)→ (ℂ, 0) . The k-th Yau algebra Lk(V ) is defined to be the Lie algebra of derivations of the k-th moduli algebra A^k(V) := 𝒪_n/(f, m^kJ(f)) , where k ≥ 0, m is the maximal ideal of 𝒪_n . The Generalized Cartan matrix Ck(V ) is an object associated to Lk(V ). We previously proposed a conjecture that ADE singularities can be completely characterized by Ck(V ), and verified it for k = 1 in our previous work. In this paper, we continue this work and verify this conjecture for k = 2.

Abstract:For any positive integer $k$, let $X_k$ be a projective irreducible nodal curve with $k$ nodes. We show that the Betti numbers and the mixed Hodge numbers of the compactified Jacobian $\overline{J_{k}}$ of an irreducible nodal curve $X_k$ with $k$ nodes are the same as the Betti numbers and the mixed Hodge numbers of $J_0\times R^k$, where $J_0$ is the Jacobian of the normalisation of the irreducible nodal curve and $R$ denotes the rational nodal curve with one node. We prove it by constructing a topologically locally trivial family of projective varieties containing $\overline{J_{k}}$ and $J_0\times R^k$ as fibres.

Abstract:The Jacobian conjecture involves the map $y= x - V(x)$ where $y, x$ are n-dimensional vectors, $V(x)$ is a symmetric polynomial of degree $d$ for which the Jacobian hypothesis holds: $ e^{Tr \ln(1- V'(x))} =1,\ \forall x$. The conjecture states that the inverse map ($x$ as a function of $y$) is also polynomial. The proof is inspired by perturbative field theory. We express the inverse map $F(y)= y+ V(F(y))$ as a perturbative expansion which is a sum of partially ordered connected trees. We use the property : $\frac{d F_{k}}{dy_{k}}= (\frac{1}{1-V'(F)})_{k,k} =1+ \sum _{q\ge 1} \frac{1}{q} (Tr (V'(F))^{q})_{with\ q\ edges\ of\ index\ k}$ to extract inductively in the index $k$ all the sub traces in the expansion of the inverse map. We obtain $F= F(|\le n)\ \ e^{- Tr \ln(1-V'(F(|\le n)))}$ By the Jacobian hypothesis $e^{- Tr \ln(1-V'(F(|\le n)))} =1$ and a straightforward graphical argument gives that $degree \ in\ y \ of \ F(|\le n)\le d^{2^{n} -2}$

Abstract:The real Jacobian conjecture claims that if $F=\left(f^1,\ldots,f^n\right):\mathbb{R}^n\rightarrow \mathbb{R}^n$ is a polynomial map such that $\det DF$ is nowhere zero, then $F$ is a global injective. The first part is to study the two-dimensional real Jacobian conjecture via the method of the qualitative theory of dynamical systems. By Bendixson compactification, an induced polynomial differential system can be obtained from the Hamiltonian system associated to polynomial map $F$. We prove that the following statements are equivalent: (A) $F$ is a global injective; (B) the origin of induced system is a center; (C) the origin of induced system is a monodromic singular point; (D) the origin of induced system has no hyperbolic sectors; (E) induced system has a $C^k$ first integral with an isolated minimun at the origin and $k\in\mathbb{N}^{+}\cup\{\infty\}$. Moreover, applying the above results we present a necessary and sufficient condition for the validity of the two-dimensional real Jacobian conjecture, which is an algebraic criterion. By definition a criterion function, $F$ is a global injective if and only if the limit of criterion function is infinite as $\left|x\right|+\left|y\right|$ tends to infinity. This algebraic criterion improves the main result of Braun et al [J. Differential Equations {\bf 260} (2016) 5250-5258]. In the second part, the necessary and sufficient conditions on the $n$-dimensional real Jacobian conjecture is obtained. Using the tool from the nonlinear functional analysis, $F$ is a global injective if and only if $\parallel F\left(\mathbf{x}\right)\parallel$ approaches to infinite as $\parallel\mathbf{x}\parallel\rightarrow\infty$, which is a generalization of the above algebraic criterion. As an application, we give an alternate proof of the Cima's result on the $n$-dimensional real Jacobian conjecture [Nonlinear Anal. {\bf 26} (1996) 877-885].

Abstract:The real Jacobian conjecture was posed by Randall in 1983. This conjecture asserts that if $F=\left(f_1,\ldots ,f_n\right):\mathbb{R}^n\rightarrow\mathbb{R}^n$ is a polynomial map such that $\det DF\left(\mathbf{x}\right)\neq0$ for all $\mathbf{x}\in\mathbb{R}^n$, then $F$ is injective. This investigation mainly consists of two parts. Firstly, we use the qualitative theory of dynamical systems to give an alternate proof of the polynomial version of the $n$-dimensional Hadamard's theorem. Secondly, we present some algebraic sufficient conditions for the $n$-dimensional real Jacobian conjecture. Our results not only extend the main result of [J. Differential Equations {\bf 260} (2016), 5250-5258] to quasi-homogeneous type, but also generalize it from $\mathbb{R}^2$ to $\mathbb{R}^n$. As a coproduct of our proof process, we solve an open problem formulated by Braun, Giné and Llibre in [J. Differential Equations {\bf 260} (2016), 5250-5258].

Abstract:We study the local geometry of the moduli space of intermediate Jacobians of $(2,2)$-threefolds in ${\mathbb P}^2 \times {\mathbb P}^2$. More precisely, we prove that a composition of the second fundamental form of the Siegel metric in $\mathcal A_9$ restricted to this moduli space, with a natural multiplication map is a nonzero holomorphic section of a vector bundle. We also describe its kernel. We use the two conic bundle structures of these threefolds, Prym theory, gaussian maps and Jacobian ideals.

Abstract:Let $(u_j)_j$ be a sequence of maps in $W^{1,2}(\Omega;\mathbb R^3)$, where $\Omega$ is a domain in $\mathbb R^3$. When can we conclude that its weak limit $u$ has non-negative Jacobian a.e.? Hencl and Onninen shows that it is sufficient that each $u_j$ is an orientation-preserving homeomorphism, using an ingenious analysis of a topological invariant called the linking number. Following their approach, we show that if each $u_j$ is a generalised axisymmetric map that has positive Jacobian a.e. and is one-to-one a.e., then $\det Du \ge 0$ a.e. Our proof is based on using the divergence identities to control the sign of the linking numbers of the images of links in $\Omega$ under $u_j$.

Abstract:Let $\pi\colon Y \to X$ be a branched cover of complex algebraic curves of respective genera $g(Y)=2$ and $g(X)=1$. The Jacobian of $Y$ is isogenous to the product of two elliptic curves: $\operatorname{Jac} Y \sim \operatorname{Jac} X \times \operatorname{Jac} W$. We present an explicit geometric construction of the complementary curve $W$. Furthermore, we establish a criterion to decide whether an algebraic correspondence of curves admits a push-out.

Abstract:We prove the following results: (1) for any nonsingular projective $3$-folds $X$ of general type with $\chi(\mathcal{O}_X)\neq 2,3$, the canonical volume $\text{Vol}(X)$ has the optimal lower bound $\frac{1}{420}$; (2) for nonsingular projective $3$-folds (resp. $4$-folds) $X$ of general type with $h^{2, 0}(X)\geq 108\cdot 42^3+4$ (resp. with sufficiently large $h^{2, 0}(X)$), the $3$-canonical map (resp. $5$-canonical map) is stably birational; (3) for any nonsingular projective $n$-fold $X$ of general type with $q(X)>n\geq 4$, the canonical stability index $r_s(X)$ is upper bounded by the $(n-1)$-th canonical stability index $r_{n-1}$.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a so-called Condition C1 and a weaker Condition C2. For Druzkowski maps Condition C2 is equivalent to the Jacobian conjecture. Main results obtained: - Stating new equivalent formulations of the Jacobian conjecture. - Formulating some generalisations of the Jacobian conjecture and giving both theoretical and experimental evidences to support them. - Showing Condition C1 holds for a generic matrix of any given rank, is an invariant for a certain group action, and Condition C2 is an invariant for cubic similarity matrices. - Giving one heuristic argument for the truth of the Jacobian Conjecture. - Giving an effective (time saving) method to check whether a given Druzkowski map satisfies the Jacobian conjecture, explaining theoretically and checking on many examples including those previously considered by other authors. - Proposing approaches toward resolving the Jacobian conjecture. Showing that a generic Druzkowski map satisfies the criteria of some of these approaches (see Theorem 1.12), and hence expecting to be able to check these approaches for a given Druzkowski map very quickly. -As an application, proposing a strategy to use cubic similarity to check that Druzkowski maps of dimension $\leq 9$ satisfy the Jacobian conjecture.

Abstract:We show that k-rational singularities of local complete intersections are k-Du Bois. For hypersurfaces, we characterize k-rationality in terms of the minimal exponent. We also establish some local vanishing results for k-rational and k-Du Bois singularities. Some of these results have been independently obtained in [FL2].
