Abstract:Background: The aim of the present study was to describe the characteristics of dental fear of Chinese adult patients with periodontal disease and provide information for clinical assessment.Methods: A total of 1203 dental patients completed questionnaires that included Corach's Dental Anxiety Scales (DAS), Dental Fear Survey (DFS) and the short-form Dental Anxiety Inventory (S-DAI). Among all the patients, 366 cases were self-reported periodontal disease. The general characteristics were described, such as socio-demographics, dental attendances and oral health behaviors. The statistical analysis was performed by t-test, Mann-Whitney U test and linear regression respectively to evaluate correlations between dental fear and general characteristics according to the three scales.Results: The prevalence of dental fear was 74% among 1203 patients, 23.4% of total with high dental fear, while 27.3% in the patients with periodontal disease. The average score of DAS and DFS for patients with periodontal disease was significantly higher than those without periodontal disease. The regression analysis indicated that gender, age, periodontal status, dental attendances and oral health behaviors were correlated with dental fear. Among 366 patients with periodontal disease, gender, dental attendances and oral health behaviors had correlation with dental fear. The analysis of DFS scale exhibited that 'drilling with handpiece' and 'injecting the anesthetic' were the most important factors to contribute to dental fear.Conclusions: There was high prevalence of dental fear in Chinese adult patients, particularly in patients with periodontal disease, and high level of dental fear may lead to poor periodontal status.
Analysis of oral health status and affecting factors of dental anxiety

Abstract:Objective To investigate the correlation between adult dental anxiety and oral health status, and access the related factors contribute to dental anxiety. Methods A total of 1 203 dental patients completed a questionnaire that contained Corah” s dental anxiety scales ( DAS ) and dental fear survey ( DFS ) . The general characteristics were de-scribed, such as socio-demographic, dental attendances and oral health status. Results The prevalence of high dental anxiety ( DAS≥13) was 23. 4%. The regression analysis indicated that gender, age, education, dental attendances and oral health status were correlated with dental anxiety. The level of dental anxiety of patients with regular scaling was sig-nificant decreased. Patients with ‘always bleeding on brushing” and ‘always dentine hypersensitivity” had significantly higher level of dental anxiety. ‘Drilling with the handpiece” and ‘injecting the anesthetic” were the most important fac-tors to contribute to dental anxiety. Conclusion There was high prevalence of dental anxiety in Chinese adult patients. The level of dental anxiety may influence by oral health status and awareness.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To establish the Chinese version of the modified children's fear survey schedule-dental subscale (CFSS-DS).METHODS:The original English version of CFSS-DS with facial image scale (FIS) was translated into Chinese, pre-tested and cross-culturally adapted. Subsequently the Chinese version schedule was randomly investigated among 367 children aged 5 - 12 years and their parents. Reliability and validity of the translated scale was evaluated later.RESULTS:Totally 367 children were investigated and 311 valid questionnaire was received. Cronbach's alpha of the translated scale was 0.85 and test-rest reliability was 0.73. The 15 items were divided into four domains. There was a certain logical relationship between the items among the same domains. There was highly significant association between the self-report of the Modified CFSS-DS and Frankl Behavioral Scale (r(s) = -0.403, P < 0.01).CONCLUSIONS:The Chinese version of modified CFSS-DS has been established successfully with good psychometric properties which provide the theoretical evidence for further application in Chinese population.

Abstract:[Objective]To determine the prevalence of dental anxiety(DA) in the elderly in old-age care institutions.[Methods]The prevalence of DA in 140 elders was investigated by using the modified Dental Anxiety Scale(MDAS).[Results]The mean MDAS score was 6.8071±3.2848 in the elderly in old-age care institutions.The prevalence rate of DA was 7.86%.Among the elders,there was significant difference for the comparison of MDAS scores in degree of education,different pain tolerance and experiences of dental care.The order of factors about MDAS scores were(from high to low):pain tolerance,age,mental state,degree of education,character,experiences of dental care,oral hygiene,family financial situations, relatives experiences of dental care,gender and health situation.The pain tolerance had highly significant influence among these factors. [Conclusions]The prevalence rate of DA was low in the elderly in old-age care institutions.The prevalence of DA was significantly influenced by difference in pain tolerance and age.

Abstract:Assessing children's pain using patient-based pain scales can be challenging. Hence, there is a need of new version Artificial Intelligence Child Dental Anxiety Scale (AI-CDAS) to scale and test its psychometric properties (validity and reliability). This study was conducted to evaluate the validity and reliability of Artificial Intelligence version of the Child Dental Anxiety Scale (AI-CDAS) for anxiety detection scale in children using face as a response set from October 2022 to December 2023. Aim of this study was to examine the reliability and validity of Artificial Intelligence based Child Dental Anxiety Scale (AI-CDAS) using a wide range of age samples in dental clinics. A total of 100 outpatients (Age 03-09 years) from Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed to be University Dental College and Hospital, Pune, India participated in this study. Dental anxiety was assessed using the Artificial Intelligence Child Dental Anxiety Scale (AI-CDAS) and comparing with a valid and reliable scale of Colored Version of Modified Facial Affective Scale. Reliability and validity was good and significant correlations were found between the AI-CDAS and the Colored Version of Modified Facial Affective Scale. This study suggests that the Artificial Intelligence based Child Dental Anxiety Scale (AI-CDAS) is a valid and reliable measure for assessing children's dental anxiety and may help encourage dentists to formally assess dental anxiety scale in day to day practice. Self-report measures are commonly employed in dental anxiety assessments. One advantage of self report measures is the ease of administration, taking relatively short period of time to complete. They can also assess the reaction to different aspects of the dental experience.

Abstract:Aim: To assess the reliability and validity of an AI-based, innovative digital scale for the assessment of dental anxiety in children. Background: Dental anxiety still persists as a potential problem in managing the child in the dental office. There is a need to develop a gold standard scale to measure anxiety in children incorporating newer technology. An innovative self-reported scale known as RMSDigital Anxiety Scale (RMS-DAS) incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) was developed. Methods: Seventy-six children (aged 4-12 years) were included in the reliability group. The RMS-DAS test score was recorded on Day 1 where the child was asked to click on the expression produced by AI that matches his/her anxiety level the most at that moment. RMS-DAS retest score was recorded after 7 days. The validity group included 140 children. The anxiety scores were recorded using three scales; RMS-DAS, RMS-Pictorial Scale (RMS-PS) and Facial Image Scale (FIS) during the same visit where the child was asked to click on the expression that matches his/her anxiety level the most at that moment. Reliability was assessed by the internal consistency using Cronbach's alpha and the test-retest was assessed using paired t-test, scatterplot, and coefficient correlation. The validity of RMS-DAS was assessed by correlating it with RMS-PS and FIS using Spearman's correlation coefficient. Conclusion: RMS-DAS is a reliable and valid scale that can be used as a new digital tool to assess children's dental anxiety.
Assessment of oral self-care in patients with periodontitis: a pilot study in a dental school clinic in Japan

Abstract:Background: Oral hygiene education is central to every stage of periodontal treatment. Successful management of periodontal disease depends on the patient's capacity for oral self-care. In the present study, the oral self-care and perceptions of patients attending a dental school clinic in Japan were assessed using a short questionnaire referring to existing oral health models. Methods: A cross-sectional study design was used. The study population consisted of sixty-five patients (age range 23-77) with chronic periodontitis. The pre-tested 19-item questionnaire comprised 3 domains; 1) oral hygiene, 2) dietary habits and 3) perception of oral condition. The questionnaire was used as a part of the comprehensive assessment. Results: Analyses of the assessment data revealed no major problems with the respondents' perceived oral hygiene habits, although their actual plaque control levels were not entirely adequate. Most of the respondents acknowledged the importance of prevention of dental caries and periodontal diseases, but less than one third of them were regular users of the dental care system. Twenty-five percent of the respondents were considered to be reluctant to change their daily routines, and 29% had doubts about the impact of their own actions on oral health. Analyzing the relationships between patient responses and oral hygiene status, factors like 'frequency of tooth brushing', 'approximal cleaning', 'dental check-up' and 'compliance with self-care advice' showed statistically significant associations (P < 0.05) with the plaque scores. Conclusion: The clinical utilization of the present questionnaire facilitates the inclusion of multiple aspects of patient information, before initiation of periodontal treatment. The significant associations that were found between some of the self-care behaviors and oral hygiene levels document the important role of patient-centered oral health assessment in periodontal care.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To develop the Chinese version of a face version of the modified child dental anxiety scale (MCDASf) and test the reliability and validity of MCDASf.METHODS:The English version of MCDASf was translated and back-translated, as well as crosscultural adapted by the method of psychometrics to develop the Chinese version of MCDASf. Subsequently the Chinese version schedule was randomly investigated among 245 kindergarten children and school children aged greater than 4 and less than 12 years on two separate occasions 3 weeks apart to determine the reliability. A total of 248 children attending Pediatrics Dentistry of Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology aged greater than 4 and less than 12 years old were selected and completed the Chinese version of MCDASf and the Chinese version of modified Children's fear survey schedule-dental subscale (CFSS-DS) before treatment to determine the validity. Then we rated the children's behavior during dental treatment by Venham's clinical anxiety rating scale and cooperative behavior rating scale to evaluate the relation between self-assessed dental anxiety scores and the behavioral reaction during the dental treatment.RESULTS:In reliability study, 98.0% of 250 children completed the MCDASf. In validity study, 99.2% of 248 children completed the MCDASf. Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the translated scale was 0.814 and the test-retest reliability was 0.907. Principal component analysis of the translated scale confirmed that the scale consisted of a single unidimensional construct. The Chinese version of MCDASf significantly was correlated with the Chinese version of modified CFSS-DS (r = 0.843, P < 0.01) . It was also correlated with Venham's clinic anxiety rating scale and cooperative behavior rating scale (r = 0.675, P < 0.01).CONCLUSIONS:The Chinese version of MCDASf demonstrated good reliability and validity and can be used as a simple self-report measurement of dental anxiety in Chinese children aged 4-11 years.
Sea-Level Rise and Adaptation Responses for Coastal Construction: A Spatial-Temporal Decision Making Tool

Abstract:Most infrastructure, settlements and facilities are located near the coast and are highly vulnerable to sea-level rise (SLR), coastal erosion and storms. Continued population growth in low-lying coastal areas will increase vulnerability to these hazards. The impacts of SLR are highly variable across regions and difficult to predict over time and space. Principally, due to constraints on the adaptive capacities of coastal areas, SLR increases the challenge of achieving sustainable development in these areas in developing countries, and they are likely to be hit hardest. Generally speaking, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change are urgent issues, especially among developing countries. The dilemmas confronting decision makers are: how and when to adapt to SLR. The complexity can easily overwhelm the ability of decision makers to thoroughly investigate the outcomes of adaptation alternatives. Therefore developing and implementing effective adaptation options is crucial for future coastal development. However, in many cases, it is difficult to determine whether taking a specific action to prepare for SLR is justified, due to uncertainty in the timing and magnitude of impacts. By considering the uncertain nature of projected changes in climate and addressing these dilemmas, this paper intends to provide a dynamic model for a comprehensive vulnerability assessment of coastal areas to assist decision makers to identify and evaluate effective adaptation alternatives for reducing climate change impacts. To achieve this outcome, two modeling techniques are combined: (1) System Dynamics, and (2) Geographical Information Systems. A combination of these approaches would provide the potential to address temporal and spatial problems concurrently.

Abstract:Objective: To develop a Chinese research tool for the dental hygiene fear survey to assess Chinese patient's anxiety and fear in the dental clinic. Method: Based on the theory model of the University of Washington's dentistry fear and anxiety and the research of Cynthia C. , we established a Chinese version for the dental hygiene fear survey (CVDHFS) . It's reliability and validity were examined with 223 subjects and 30 dental clinic patients. Results: The survey was consisted of 22 items which belong to four subscales: generalized anxious, the specific fear, distrust and catastrophe, the inter-item correlations within each subscale were significant at the 0.01 level (r =? -?), the inter- subscale correlations were 0. 53-0.85 (P0.01), ronbach αof total scale was 0. 91. 4 components were extracted by principal component analysis, and there was 72. 40% total Variance explained, the Loadings of items of G1 - G5 , S7 and C5 on generalized anxious Component ranged from 0. 58 - 0. 82, the Loadings of items of S1 - S6 on specific fear Component ranged from 0. 52 - 0. 79, the Loadings of items of D1 - D5 on distrust Component ranged from 0. 66 -0. 80, the Loadings of items of C1 - C4 on catastrophe Component ranged from 0. 51-0. 87. The correlations between DHFS and The State Anxiety Inventory was 0. 62 (P 0. 01) . Conclusions: The DHFS had favorable construct validity and criterion-related validity, it's homogeneous reliability was satisfactory, it was a useful tool for dental clinic use.

Abstract:BACKGROUND: Dental treatment can be highly unpleasant for anxious patients. Despite all advancements, dental anxiety continues to upset the dentist-patient relationship. The psychological factors like individual personality and familial and peer influence may alter the dental beliefs of a patient.AIM: A cross-sectional questionnaire study was conducted among young adolescents to investigate the relationship among various psychological factors and the dental beliefs of an individual.MATERIALS AND METHODS: A self-administered questionnaire was distributed among higher secondary school children, aged 15-17 years in Udupi district. The dental anxiety of the participants was measured using Modified Dental Beliefs scale and the personality traits were assessed using the Ten-Item Personality Inventory. Pearson's correlation and chi-square analysis were performed among these scales. Independent t-test was performed to compare dental anxiety scores with different socio-demographic and psychological characteristics.RESULTS: In all 198 students, with a mean age of 16.6 years, completed the questionnaire. A majority of the participants had lower MDBS scores. The personality traits like Emotional Stability and Openness to New Experiences showed a negative correlation with the Dental Belief scores. Apart from these, the experience at first dental visit and peer support also affected the dental beliefs of the adolescents.CONCLUSION: Various psychological traits of adolescents influence their dental anxiety.

Abstract:Objective: Dental anxiety is widespread among both children and adults. To diagnose dental anxiety, standardized anxiety questionnaires are recommended. Based on the suggestive nature of the questionnaires, the study aimed to find out whether asking respondents about personal coping strategies before dental treatment influences their anxiety. Methods: This prospective, double-blind, randomized controlled clinical trial included a total of 158 patients of a university dental clinic on emergency service. The intervention group ( n = 82) received the Coping with Anxiety Questionnaire (CAQ) and the control group ( n = 76) the Hierarchical Anxiety Questionnaire (HAF). State anxiety scores were assessed by using the State–Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) before and after the completion of each questionnaire. Results: Anxiety decreased in the intervention group (CAQ) ( p < 0.001) and increased in the control group (HAF) ( p < 0.001). Conclusion: Within the limitations of the current study, a diagnostic tool of a standardized questionnaire for the assessment to assess personal coping strategies decreased state anxiety in comparison to a questionnaire assessing anxiety. Translation and Validation of the Short Form of the Fear of Dental Pain Questionnaire in China

Abstract:The short form of the Fear of Dental Pain Questionnaire (s-FDPQ) is a validated measure developed to screen patients for their fear of pain associated with dental procedures. As there is a high prevalence of dental fear/anxiety in Chinese adults, the primary aim of our study was to translate the s-FDPQ into standard Mandarin and explore its reliability and validity with Chinese adults. The second aim of our study was to explore fear of dental pain (FDP) scores in relation to dental attendance, anxiety and gender. We translated the s-FDPQ using the forward-backward method. It was completed by 480 Chinese adults alongside the Modified Dental Anxiety Scale (MDAS; Chinese version) to test convergent validity. 109 participants completed the s-FDPQ again 14 days later to evaluate test-retest reliability. The Chinese s-FDPQ (s-CFDPQ) was internally consistent (alpha = 0.87) and demonstrated convergent validity ( r = 0.73 when correlated with the MDAS). Test-retest reliability was good (ICC = 0.86). Individuals who had never attended the dentist (22%) had higher FDP scores than those that had, even if they were not dentally anxious. Also, females reported higher FDP scores ( p < 0.001). These findings suggest that the s-CFDPQ is a reliable and valid measure for assessing fear of dental pain in Chinese adults. The s-CFDPQ could allow quick identification of individuals who are fearful of dental pain who may require specialist attention.

Abstract:Background: Dental anxiety is marked by intense and irrational fear of dental procedures affecting millions of individuals worldwide. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between dental anxiety, its influencing factors, and the preferred management techniques among adults seeking dental care in Riyadh. Methods: A cross-sectional questionnaire study was carried out among 1734 patients who visited dental clinics in Riyadh. A self-administered questionnaire was developed and validated, comprising 28 closed-ended questions; it demonstrated good reliability and internal consistency (Cohen's kappa coefficient = 0.90, Cronbach's alpha coefficient = 0.86), it contained pre-validated Modified Dental Anxiety Scale to quantitatively assess the level of dental anxiety. Data analysis involved descriptive analysis, Chi-square test, Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple linear regression. Results: Majority (59.2%) of participants reported moderate anxiety, while 10.9% experienced high anxiety which was significantly linked to factors such as fear of pain (37.8%) and anaesthetic needles (25.8%). Topical anaesthetic gel (64.5%), pre-treatment explanations (78.9%), and conducive clinic environment (79.4%) were perceived as effective anxiety alleviators. A negative correlation existed between dental anxiety and preferred management techniques. Dental anxiety had significant association between gender (β = 0.910) and age (β = 0.263). Conclusion: This study revealed that majority of participants had moderate dental anxiety, linked significantly to influencing factors like frequency and purpose of dental visits and past dental experiences. The study also found the preferred anxiety management methods among participants which included topical anaesthetic gel, pre-treatment explanations, and a comfortable clinic environment.

Abstract:Aim . The aim of the study was to analyze anxiety in female and male dental students related to their first procedure performed on a pediatric patient as part of their study curriculum. Materials and Methods . The study was carried out in eighty-four 3rd year dental students (75.00% females and 25.00% males), aged 22–28 years. The participation in the research was anonymous and voluntary. The study was performed during clinical classes in pediatric dentistry where the students were supposed to perform simple prophylactic or therapeutic procedures on pediatric patients. To assess anxiety, a State-Trait Anxiety Inventory was used prepared by Spielberger et al. based on the American STAI questionnaire of 1970 that is composed of two-parts scales: the X-1 scale to assess anxiety as a state and the X-2 scale to assess anxiety as a trait. For statistical analysis, the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, Pearson’s chi-squared test, and Mann–Whitney test as well as Statistica 10 programme were used. Results . The results obtained from the first and second part of the questionnaire concerning anxiety as a state and as a trait showed high level of anxiety as a state in 51.19% of the students and as a trait in 32.14% and low level in 19.05% and 41.67%, respectively. The obtained results showed minimal and maximal values to be 24 and 71, respectively, for the STAI-1 scale (mean = 40.55), and 24 and 57, respectively, for the STAI-2 scale (mean = 41.75). Conclusions . The results show that the anxiety level during clinical classes is relatively high in the studied population of students. Preparing the students to cope with stress resulting from treating the patients seems to be of importance. Such programmes should be implemented before the start of practical clinical classes. The acquired knowledge will be useful in further professional career.

Abstract:Three different methods are used to estimate the loss and gain in fulfillment of basic needs, for industrial and less developed countries, from possible global transfers of income. Focusing on prospective changes in life expectancy and infant mortality rates, the gain attributable to a given income increment for a person in a very poor country is on the order of seventy-five times greater than the loss to be expected for the average person residing in a rich country. Benefits to the poor are greater if income is distributed relatively equally within poor countries. Income transfers designed to meet basic needs would help to reduce birth rates in poor countries. The prospective gains in basic needs from the transfers are sufficiently large to exceed prospective losses from disruption of the global economy caused by the transfers. Fundamental questions of justice are thus raised.
RMS Pictorial Scale (RMS-PS): An innovative scale for the assessment of child′s dental anxiety

Abstract:BACKGROUND: Dental anxiety assessment for young children is as important as performing their treatment. Appropriate knowledge of patient's anxiety boosts confidence and will help us to review potential management options specific to every child.AIM: This study aimed to validate (RMS) Pictorial Scale (RMS-PS) and to compare it with Venham Picture Test (VPT) and Facial image scale (FIS) in measuring dental anxiety for young children during their first dental visit.MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 102 healthy children aged between 4 and 14 years during their first dental visit were randomly selected for the study. Childs anxiety level was measured using three different scales namely (i) RMS-PS (ii) VPT, and (iii) FIS.STATISTICAL ANALYSIS: Student t test was used to compare the scores obtained from all the three scales. Pearson correlation test was used to obtain correlation among the scales used in the study.RESULTS: A strong correlation (0·76) was found between the VPT and RMS-PS, and a moderate correlation (0.5) was found between RMS-PS and FIS, indicating good validity for the RMS-PS.CONCLUSIONS: The findings of this study suggest that the RMS-PS can be a newer and easiest means for the assessment of dental anxiety for young children in a clinical context.

Thus, visual dental stimuli provoke anxiety. This preliminary study aimed to assess the level of aversion to visual stimuli in dental patients and compare it with that in dentists. Patients and Methods: A total of 43 dental patients (25 women, 18 men; average age, 29.9 ± 13.3 years; patient group) and 13 dentists (4 women, 9 men; average age, 28.2 ± 2.0 years; dentist group) were included. All participants had previously undergone dental treatment. The dental fear level was assessed using the self-reported Dental Fear Survey (DFS). Thirty-two images associated with dental treatment were prepared and classified into three categories: dental instruments, dental procedures, and the dental environment. All participants rated their level of disgust toward each image on a visual analog scale with scores ranging from 0 to 100. Results: In the patient group, the disgust ratings for tooth extraction, dental drilling, and local anesthesia were > 60, which were significantly different from those in the dentist group (Mann–Whitney U- test, p < 0.001, p =0.001, and p =0.001, respectively). The ranking order of the disgust ratings for the 32 images showed significant correlation between the patient and dentist groups (Spearman correlation coefficient, r=0.80, p < 0.001). In the patient group, the disgust ratings for dental impressions and the interdental brush, dental light, and dental chair were significantly correlated with DFS scores (r=0.61, p < 0.001; r=0.47, p =0.001; r=0.41, p =0.006; and r=0.40, p =0.008, respectively). Conclusion: This study revealed that patients have more negative feelings toward invasive procedures than dentists. However, a significant correlation was identified between the ranking of aversion-provoking dental stimuli by patients and dentists. Furthermore, the level of aversion to several dental-related items that do not cause pain was correlated with the dental fear level. Usually, fearful patients can easily identify the aspects of dental treatment that they find most repulsive. 5 Although the most common fear-inducing stimuli are injections; the sound, sight, and smell of drills; and the pain associated with dental procedures, fearful patients may cite various dental instruments or procedures as triggers for their dental fear. 6 In a study in the Netherlands, the top sources of dental fear were constant regardless of the patient's sex, regional differences, and dental fear level. 7 However, few surveys have evaluated dental fear in the Japanese population. 8,9 Furthermore, no survey has evaluated dentists' perspectives toward sources of dental fear. Dentists may have no feelings toward the instruments they use during treatment; however, these instruments may be sources of fear for their patients. Knowing the difference between dentists' and patients' perceptions may help dentists become friendlier with their patients and gain their trust. Analysis of Clinical Related Factors on Dental Anxiety in Adult Dental Outpatients

Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical related factors of dental anxiety in adult outpatients. Methods A total of 376 adult patients who were treated in Odontopathy Prevention Institute and the dental clinic of Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University from June to October 2017 were enrolled. The dental anxiety scale (DAS) was used to assess the occurrence of dental anxiety. SPSS 18.0 software was used for statistical analysis. Results There were 50 adult outpatients with anxiety or severe anxiety and 326 cases without anxiety. There was no statistically significant difference in degree of education between the two groups (4/26, 6//27, 10/74, 30/199, χ2=0.83, P>0.05). However, significant differences were found in the age (27/98, 12/96, 11/44), gender (42/181, 8/145), dental treatment history (7/11, 43/315) and childhood dental psychological fear (12/128, 38/198) between two groups(χ2=18.37, 14.57, 10.74, 4.32, all P<0.05). Multivariate Logistic regression was used to analyze the association of factors affecting dental anxiety. The results showed that it was significantly correlated with age (OR=50.66, 3.37), gender (OR=65.25), history of dental treatment (OR=14.22) and childhood dental psychological fear (OR=3.64) (all P<0.05). Conclusions Adult dental anxiety is common in clinical practices. There is a close relationship between the occurrence of anxiety and the patient′s gender, age, history of dental treatment and childhood dental psychological fear.
