Abstract:Knowledgeable, literate, with a great love of books, personally courageous, kind and encouraging, a young evacuee to Maine during WWII, a pioneer patient activist, described by the late Sir Donald Irvine as a 'radical patient activist', whose wide knowledge and academic rigour encouraged medical colleagues to pay attention. This was my friend Charlotte Williamson. Charlotte worked much with doctors. From 1978–1982 she was a member of North Yorkshire Area Health Authority, a post that she did not apply for, a member of York District Health Authority from 1982–1992 and a member of York Health Services Trust(Board) from 1992–1997, a post that she resigned from to concentrate on national work, and vice-chairman of all of the above for 20 years. Abstract:Professor Marjorie Perloff was a distinguished scholar, poetry critic, and theorist. Her profound insights and unique perspectives on modern and contempo-rary American poetry have earned her high recognition in the international academic community. She was not only an Emeritus Professor at Stanford University and the University of Southern California but also a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a fellow of the American Philosophical Society. Her research spanned multiple fields, with outstanding achievements particularly in avant-garde poetry and modernist and postmodernist theory. Her works, including The Poetics of Indeterminacy: Rimbaud to Cage, Radical Artifice: Writing Poetry in the Age of Me-dia, Infrathin: An Experiment in Micropoetics, have not only provided new perspec-tives for understanding modern poetry but also advanced the development of poetry theory, establishing leading theories such as the poetics of indeterminacy and micro-poetics. Professor Perloff also served as the long-term president of China-American Association for Poetry and Poetics, actively promoting cultural exchange between China and the United States and fostering deep cooperation in the field of poetry research. Though Professor Perloff passed away, she has left behind us a valuable academic legacy. We will always keep her in our hearts.

Reflections on doing, being and becoming the #OTalk student digital leader intern

Abstract:OTalk is an ever-growing community of practitioners, students and academics/researchers who engage in weekly chats over the social media platform of Twitter. Discussion topics are of relevance to occupational therapists and occupational scientists (OTalk 2014). Prior to accepting a place on a pre-reg course in occupational therapy, OTalk enabled me to develop awareness of current, relevant topics impacting the profession I wanted to enter. As a student it has given me further opportunities to understand how theory supports practice in a wide range of clinical settings beyond my own experiences of placement and classroom-based learning. Midway through my first year of studying, I had the opportunity to undertake an internship with OTalk, as a student digital leader as a CPD activity for 16-month period with the team to develop digital leadership skills (OTalk 2015). The experience gained throughout the intern period allowed for the development of communication skills, publicity and promotion skills and professionalism in the context of appropriate use of social media. It also gave opportunity to develop skills highlighted within HCPC Standards of Proficiency: Occupational Therapist (2013) such as building and maintaining professional relationships as well as working appropriately with others. The poster will outline my personal experience and reflections of doing, being and becoming (Wilcock 1998) a student digital leader intern with the OTalk team. It will explore the development of skills I can carry forward into the occupational therapy profession and also the challenges I faced interning alongside studying towards my pre-reg qualification in occupational therapy. It will also aim to encourage student OTs to continue to make use of social media as part of their learning journey and post-graduation.

Abstract:This is the fourth in a series of papers that provides an historical record in this journal of contributions made by the most influential figures in the field of stuttering. Ann Packman is an Australian researcher who will retire shortly. This paper reflects on her long and productive career, and her contributions to the field. With a background in literature, linguistics, philosophy, psychology, and the brain and language, she became well equipped to contribute to understanding stuttering causality. That work, and an accompanying collection of basic and applied clinical research, was constantly grounded with the thoughts and feelings of those who stutter in the community.
