Abstract:Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by repeated patterns of hyperactivity, impulsivity, and inattention that limit daily functioning and development. Electroencephalography (EEG) anomalies correspond to changes in brain connection and activity. The authors propose utilizing empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and discrete wavelet transform (DWT) for feature extraction and machine learning (ML) algorithms to categorize ADHD and control subjects. For this study, the authors considered freely accessible ADHD data obtained from the IEEE data site. Studies have demonstrated a range of EEG anomalies in ADHD patients, such as variations in power spectra, coherence patterns, and event-related potentials (ERPs). Some of the studies claimed that the brain's prefrontal cortex and frontal regions collaborate in intricate networks, and disorders in either of them exacerbate the symptoms of ADHD. , Based on the research that claimed the brain's prefrontal cortex and frontal regions collaborate in intricate networks, and disorders in either of them exacerbate the symptoms of ADHD, the proposed study examines the optimal position of EEG electrode for identifying ADHD and in addition to monitoring accuracy on frontal/ prefrontal and other regions of brain our study also investigates the position groupings that have the highest effect on accurateness in identification of ADHD. The results demonstrate that the dataset classified with AdaBoost provided values for accuracy, precision, specificity, sensitivity, and F1-score as 1.00, 0.70, 0.70, 0.75, and 0.71, respectively, whereas using random forest (RF) it is 0.98, 0.64, 0.60, 0.81, and 0.71, respectively, in detecting ADHD. After detailed analysis, it is observed that the most accurate results included all electrodes. The authors believe the processes can detect various neurodevelopmental problems in children utilizing EEG signals.

Abstract:Objective: Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most widespread neurodevelopmental disorders diagnosed in childhood. ADHD is diagnosed by following the guidelines of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5). According to DSM-5, ADHD has not yet identified a specific cause, and thus researchers continue to investigate this field. Therefore, the primary objective of this work is to present a study to find the subset of channels or brain regions that best classify ADHD vs Typically Developing children by means of Electroencephalograms (EEG). Methods: To achieve this goal, we present a novel approach to identify the brain regions that best classify ADHD using EEG and Deep Learning (DL). First, we perform a filtering and artefact removal process on the EEG signal. Then we generate different subsets of EEG channels depending on their location on the scalp (hemispheres, lobes, sets of lobes and single channels) and using backward and forward stepwise feature selection methods. Finally, we feed the DL neural network with each set, and compute the f1-score. Results and conclusions: Based on the obtained results, the Frontal Lobe (FL) (0.8081 f1-score) and the Left Hemisphere (LH) (0.8056 f1-score) provide more significant information detecting individuals with ADHD, than using the entire set of EEG Channels (0.8067 f1-score). However, when combining the Temporal, Parietal and Occipital Lobes (TL, PL, OL), better results (0.8097 f1-score) were obtained compared with using only the FL and LH subsets. The best performance was obtained using Feature Selection Methods. In the case of the Backward Stepwise Feature Selection method, a combination of 14 EEG channels yielded a 0.8281 f1-score. Similarly, using the Forward Stepwise Feature Selection method, a combination of 11 EEG channels yielded a 0.8271 f1-score. These findings hold significant value for physicians in the quest to better understand the underlying causes of ADHD.

Abstract:The neurodevelopmental disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), frequently affecting youngsters, is characterized by persistent patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, the etiology of which may involve a variety of genetic, environmental, and neurological factors. Electroencephalography (EEG) measures the electrical activity in the brain through neuronal activity, which is a function of cognitive processes. In this study, a previously recorded sample set of 121 children containing unbiased data from both ADHD and control group classes and EEG signals were analyzed to classify the ADHD patients. The samples were tested under different cognitive conditions, and multiple features were extracted using Euclidean distance. Many machine learning algorithms use Euclidean distance as their default distance metric to compare two recorded data points. The extracted features were trained using four supervised machine learning algorithms (linear regression, random forest, extreme gradient boosting, and K nearest neighbor (KNN)) based on the results of various frequency bands. The results suggest that the KNN algorithm produces the highest accuracy over other machine learning approaches, and results can be further improved with the application of hyperparameter tuning and used for classifying sub-groups of ADHD to identify the severity of the disorder.

Abstract:Understanding the abnormalities in brain function aids differential diagnosis of various brain disorders; the complexity of this process initiates with the shared symptoms and increases with the subjectivity of the psychiatric diagnosis. Quantitative EEG analysis is a powerful tool to discard neurological abnormalities in neuropsychiatric diagnosis and remarkably used to find neurophysiological or psychiatric biomarkers. Attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common neuropsychiatric disorders in childhood that can remain in adulthood, characterized by behavior symptoms. For ADHD, biomarkers search has been pointed to monitor treatment effects (pharmacological and neurofeedback), to compare the effectivity of clinical criteria, and to track changes at different age of development. As comorbidities are common in ADHD, EEG is also used to determine the pharmacological treatment. With machine learning models, all valuable information for decision-making from several medical experts can converge in the optimal available solution or find patterns in the complexity of data; hence, there is hope for the understanding of underlying causes of the disorder and the effects of psychotropic drugs. Most of the reports of ADHD classification with machine learning use datasets from ADHD children and healthy controls, however, there is a lack of studies comparing data from other disorders. In this sense, it has been widely reported that ADHD has comorbidities, therefore more research needs to be carried out for differential diagnosis, not only to identify abnormalities but also to differentiate among the various disorders or disabilities that are found with ADHD. Finally, any validated biomarker of ADHD based on neuroimaging data should be included in clinical practice as part of the regular assessment of the expert in an intelligent decision-making support system; such a method has been assumed to be able to improve specificity, reducing overdiagnosis and, hopefully, underdiagnosis, thereby avoiding undesirable consequences in adulthood.

Abstract:In recent years, there has been significant interest in the analysis and classification of brain dis-orders using electroencephalography (EEG). We presented machine learning and deep learning (DL) frameworks that integrate an EEG-based brain network with various DL models to diagnose attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). By incorporating an objective biomarker into the diagnostic process, the accuracy and effectiveness of diagnosis could be enhanced. We used public EEG datasets from 61 ADHD youngsters and 60 normally developing children. The raw EEG data underwent preprocessing, including the application of filters in clinically relevant frequency bands and notch filters. From the preprocessed EEG segments, statistical features (e.g., standard deviation, kurtosis) and spectral features (e.g., entropy) were extracted. Principal component analysis (PCA) and chi-square with PCA were used as feature selection methods to obtain the most useful features and keep them. The machine learning models achieved the highest accuracy result of 94.86% by utilizing support vector machines (SVM) with PCA features. Furthermore, integrating models combining a convolutional neural network (CNN) with bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) networks, and gated recurrent unit-Transformer (GRU-Transformer block) with Chi-square and PCA features achieved accuracies of 94.50% and 95.59%, respectively. The suggested framework demonstrated a wide range of applicability in addressing the identification of ADHD. To evaluate the performance of the proposed models, comparisons were made with existing models, and the proposed system exhibited superior performance. We enhanced EEG-based analysis and categorization of ADHD by demonstrating the capabilities of advanced artificial intelligence models in enhancing diagnostic accuracy and efficacy.

Exploiting the Brain's Network Structure for Automatic Identification of ADHD Subjects

Abstract:Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) is a common behavioral problem affecting children. In this work, we investigate the automatic classification of ADHD subjects using the resting state Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) sequences of the brain. We show that the brain can be modeled as a functional network, and certain properties of the networks differ in ADHD subjects from control subjects. We compute the pairwise correlation of brain voxels' activity over the time frame of the experimental protocol which helps to model the function of a brain as a network. Different network features are computed for each of the voxels constructing the network. The concatenation of the network features of all the voxels in a brain serves as the feature vector. Feature vectors from a set of subjects are then used to train a PCA-LDA (principal component analysis-linear discriminant analysis) based classifier. We hypothesized that ADHD-related differences lie in some specific regions of the brain and using features only from those regions is sufficient to discriminate ADHD and control subjects. We propose a method to create a brain mask that includes the useful regions only and demonstrate that using the feature from the masked regions improves classification accuracy on the test data set. We train our classifier with 776 subjects and test on 171 subjects provided by The Neuro Bureau for the ADHD-200 challenge. We demonstrate the utility of graph-motif features, specifically the maps that represent the frequency of participation of voxels in network cycles of length 3. The best classification performance (69.59%) is achieved using 3-cycle map features with masking. Our proposed approach holds promise in being able to diagnose and understand the disorder.

Abstract:"Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)" is a neuro-developmental disorder in children under 12 years old. Learning deficits, anxiety, depression, sensory processing disorder, and oppositional defiant disorder are the most frequent comorbidities of ADHD. This research focuses on ADHD in children, considering its common occurrence and frequent coexistence with other mental disorders. The study utilizes the resting-state open-eye "Electroencephalogram" (EEG) signals of 61 children with ADHD and 60 healthy children. Morphological and "Power Spectral Density" (PSD) features associated with ADHD are analysed and "Principal Component Analysis" (PCA) is employed to reduce data dimensionality. Classification algorithms including AdaBoost, "K-Nearest Neighbour" (KNN) classifier, Naive Bayes, and random forest are utilized, with the Bernoulli Naive Bayes classifier achieving the highest accuracy of 96%. This study found some relevant characteristics for classification at the frontal (F), central (C), and parietal (P) electrode placement sites. Finally, this reveals distinct EEG patterns in children with ADHD and the study provides a potential supplementary method for ADHD diagnosis.

Abstract:Inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity are among the symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Syndrome (ADHD). This brain disorder cannot currently be treated or avoided. A kid or adult with ADHD may be able to control their symptoms, though, if they are diagnosed early and have a good treatment and education plan. Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is one of the non-invasive imaging techniques used to diagnose ADHD. The blood-oxygen-level-dependent (BOLD) signals extracted from several brain regions (obtained by choosing a brain atlas) are processed to form a brain functional connectivity matrix and fed into a deep learning model for the classification of ADHD. In this paper, we study two things: first , we diagnose the ADHD using fMRI data by proposing two approaches, viz., an image-based approach and a graph-based (network-based) approach. In the image-based approach, the connectivity matrix obtained from the fMRI data is used directly as an image, and the whole image is fed into a deep learning model. In the network-based approach, the connectivity matrix is first converted into an adjacency matrix, which represents an undirected network. After that, several network properties are accumulated as features, and the feature vector is fed into the deep learning model. Second , we study how the choice of a particular brain atlas or connectivity matrix can affect the accuracy of the ADHD diagnosis. The suggested algorithms, along with six different atlases and two different connectivity matrices, are compared using 352 fMRI images and various one- and two-dimensional neural network models. Our finding demonstrates that accuracy varies depending on the atlases and connectivity measurements used. In addition, we have shown that, with a particular setup, our algorithms outperform a number of deep-learning baselines showing the second best (ranging from 74.48% to 90.90%) results most of the time. Application of various atlases and connectivity matrices shows 64% variations in the overall accuracy.

Multimodal neuroimaging-based prediction of adult outcomes in childhood-onset ADHD using ensemble learning techniques

Abstract:Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a highly prevalent and heterogeneous neurodevelopmental disorder, which is diagnosed using subjective symptom reports. Machine learning classifiers have been utilized to assist in the development of neuroimaging-based biomarkers for objective diagnosis of ADHD. However, existing basic model-based studies in ADHD report suboptimal classification performances and inconclusive results, mainly due to the limited flexibility for each type of basic classifier to appropriately handle multi-dimensional source features with varying properties. This study applied ensemble learning techniques (ELTs), a meta-algorithm that combine several basic machine learning models into one predictive model in order to decrease variance, bias, or improve predictions, in multimodal neuroimaging data collected from 72 young adults, including 36 probands (18 remitters and 18 persisters of childhood ADHD) and 36 group-matched controls. All currently available optimization strategies for ELTs (i.e., voting, bagging, boosting and stacking techniques) were tested in a pool of semifinal classification results generated by seven basic classifiers. The high-dimensional neuroimaging features for classification included regional cortical gray matter (GM) thickness and surface area, GM volume of subcortical structures, volume and fractional anisotropy of major white matter fiber tracts, pair-wise regional connectivity and global/nodal topological properties of the functional brain network for cue-evoked attention process. As a result, the bagging-based ELT with the base model of support vector machine achieved the best results, with significant improvement of the area under the receiver of operating characteristic curve (0.89 for ADHD vs. controls and 0.9 for ADHD persisters vs. remitters). Features of nodal efficiency in right inferior frontal gyrus, right middle frontal (MFG)-inferior parietal (IPL) functional connectivity, and right amygdala volume significantly contributed to accurate discrimination between ADHD probands and controls; higher nodal efficiency of right MFG greatly contributed to inattentive and hyperactive/impulsive symptom remission, while higher right MFG-IPL functional connectivity strongly linked to symptom persistence in adults with childhood ADHD. Considering their improved robustness than the commonly implemented basic classifiers, findings suggest that ELTs may have the potential to identify more reliable neurobiological markers for neurodevelopmental disorders.

Abstract:Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a highly prevalent and heterogeneous neurodevelopmental disorder in children and has a high chance of persisting in adulthood. The development of individualized, efficient, and reliable treatment strategies is limited by the lack of understanding of the underlying neural mechanisms. Diverging and inconsistent findings from existing studies suggest that ADHD may be simultaneously associated with multivariate factors across cognitive, genetic, and biological domains. Machine learning algorithms are more capable of detecting complex interactions between multiple variables than conventional statistical methods. Here we present a narrative review of the existing machine learning studies that have contributed to understanding mechanisms underlying ADHD with a focus on behavioral and neurocognitive problems, neurobiological measures including genetic data, structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), task-based and resting-state functional MRI (fMRI), electroencephalogram, and functional near-infrared spectroscopy, and prevention and treatment strategies. Implications of machine learning models in ADHD research are discussed. Although increasing evidence suggests that machine learning has potential in studying ADHD, extra precautions are still required when designing machine learning strategies considering the limitations of interpretability and generalization.
An ADHD Diagnostic Interface Based on EEG Spectrograms and Deep Learning Techniques

Abstract:This paper introduces an innovative approach to Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) diagnosis by employing deep learning (DL) techniques on electroencephalography (EEG) signals. This method addresses the limitations of current behavior-based diagnostic methods, which often lead to misdiagnosis and gender bias. By utilizing a publicly available EEG dataset and converting the signals into spectrograms, a Resnet-18 convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture was used to extract features for ADHD classification. The model achieved a high precision, recall, and an overall F1 score of 0.9. Feature extraction highlighted significant brain regions (frontopolar, parietal, and occipital lobes) associated with ADHD. These insights guided the creation of a three-part digital diagnostic system, facilitating cost-effective and accessible ADHD screening, especially in school environments. This system enables earlier and more accurate identification of students at risk for ADHD, providing timely support to enhance their developmental outcomes. This study showcases the potential of integrating EEG analysis with DL to enhance ADHD diagnostics, presenting a viable alternative to traditional methods.

Abstract:Because the importance of 2,3-diphosphoglycerate in the regulation of the oxygen affinity of hemoglobin is recognized, there is growing need for a suitable method for determining this metabolite. Here we compare the colorimetric method of de Leeuw, two enzymatic rate-dependent methods (of Nygaard and Rorth and of Loos and Prins), and two enzymatic end-point methods (of Keitt and of Ericson and de Verdier). A good linearity was observed for all methods, up to 5.0 mmol of 2,3-diphosphoglycerate per liter of blood, except for the method of Ericson and de Verdier, for which an inexplicable upward drift in the calibration curve was found. Within-run precision in the duplicates and long-term precision in the methods of Loos and Prins and of de Leeuw were excellent. Mean analytical recoveries for all the methods ranged from 97 to 100%. In a paired comparison study of the methods, with the method of Loos and Prins as a reference, we did not find statistically significant differences. Coefficients of correlation were better than 0.990 ( P < 0.0005).

Abstract:The authors treated nine women with autonomous adenomas of the thyroid gland by repeated ethanol injections under ultrasonographic control. In all patients clinical and laboratory characteristics of hyperthyroidism were present. After treatment is seven patients euthyroidism was induced, in two patients subclinical hypothyroidism which persisted also during the 6-month follow-up period. In all patients ultrasonographic changes in the nodes were recorded: a reduced echogenity the development of "halo"--hypoechogenic outlines--a change of the shape and on average a 37% reduction of the volume. Treatment was feasible also under out-patient conditions: it was well tolerated by the patients, undesirable effects were not serious and only transient and receded spontaneously.
Exploring potential ADHD biomarkers through advanced machine learning: An examination of audiovisual integration networks

Abstract:Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition marked by inattention and impulsivity, linked to disruptions in functional brain connectivity and structural alterations in large-scale brain networks. Although sensory pathway anomalies have been implicated in ADHD, the exploration of sensory integration regions remains limited. In this study, we adopted an exploratory approach to investigate the connectivity profile of auditory-visual integration networks (AVIN) in children with ADHD and neurotypical controls using the ADHD-200 rs-fMRI dataset. We expanded our exploration beyond network-based statistics (NBS) by extracting a diverse range of graph theoretical features. These features formed the basis for applying machine learning (ML) techniques to discern distinguishing patterns between the control group and children with ADHD. To address class imbalance and sample heterogeneity, we employed ensemble learning models, including balanced random forest (BRF), XGBoost, and EasyEnsemble classifier (EEC). Our findings revealed significant differences in AVIN between ADHD individuals and neurotypical controls, enabling automated diagnosis with moderate accuracy (74.30%). Notably, the EEC model demonstrated balanced sensitivity and specificity metrics, crucial for diagnostic applications, offering valuable insights for potential clinical use. These results contribute to understanding ADHD's neural underpinnings and highlight the diagnostic potential of AVIN measures. However, the exploratory nature of this study underscores the need for future research to confirm and refine these findings with specific hypotheses and rigorous statistical controls.
Efficient Deep Learning Approach for Diagnosis of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder in Children Based on EEG Signals

Abstract:Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a behavioral disorder in children that can persist into adulthood if not treated. Early diagnosis of this condition is crucial for effective treatment. The database includes 61 children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and 60 healthy children as a control group. To diagnose children with ADHD, features were first extracted from EEG signals. Next, a convolutional neural network model was trained, and a new residual network was introduced. The two proposed models were evaluated using tenfold cross-validation on the test data. The average accuracy and F1 score were 92.52% and 93.6%, respectively, for the convolutional model and 96.8% and 97.1% for the ResNet model on the epoch data, respectively. On the other hand, accuracy for subject-based prediction was 96.5% for the convolution model and 98.6% for the modified ResNet model. Accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score for the proposed ResNet model are better than the convolution model proposed in previous studies and better than the proposed model in the literature. This work presents a paradigm shift in the cognitive-inspired domain by introducing a novel ResNet model for ADHD diagnosis. The model's exceptional accuracy, exceeding conventional methods, showcases its potential as a biologically inspired tool. This opens avenues for exploring the neurological underpinnings of ADHD because the model can be used for the manifold learning of EEG signals. Analyzing the proposed network can lead to a deeper understanding of EEG, bridging the gap between artificial intelligence and cognitive neuroscience. The paper's innovative approach has far-reaching implications, offering a concrete application of cognitive principles to improve mental health diagnostics in children. It is important to note that the data were augmented and the classification model is based on a single experiment containing a very small number of children but the results, and accuracy of classification, are based on classifying augmented data samples that compose the EEG signals of this small number of individuals. Abstract:Utilizing functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to model functional brain networks (FBNs) is increasingly prominent in attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) research, revealing neural impact and mechanisms through the exploration of activated brain regions. However, current FBNs-based methods face two major challenges. The primary challenge stems from the limitations of existing modeling methods in accurately capturing both regional correlations and long-distance dependencies (LDDs) within the dynamic brain, thereby affecting the diagnostic accuracy of FBNs as biomarkers. Additionally, limited sample size and class imbalance also pose a challenge to the learning performance of the model. To address the issues, we propose an automated diagnostic framework, which integrates modeling, multimodal fusion, and classification into a unified process. It aims to extract representative FBNs and efficiently incorporate domain knowledge to guide ADHD classification. Our work mainly includes three-fold: 1) A multi-head attention-based region-enhancement module (MAREM) is designed to simultaneously capture regional correlations and LDDs across the entire sequence of brain activity, which facilitates the construction of representative FBNs. 2) The multimodal supplementary learning module (MSLM) is proposed to integrate domain knowledge from phenotype data with FBNs from neuroimaging data, achieving information complementarity and alleviating the problems of insufficient medical data and unbalanced sample categories. 3) An ADHD automatic diagnosis framework guided by FBNs and domain knowledge (ADF-FAD) is proposed to help doctors make more accurate decisions, which is applied to the ADHD-200 dataset to confirm its effectiveness. The results indicate that the FBNs extracted by MAREM perform well in modeling and classification. After with MSLM, the model achieves accuracy of 92.4%, 74.4%, and 80% at NYU, PU, and KKI, respectively, demonstrating its ability to effectively capture crucial information related to ADHD diagnosis. Abstract:Recently, the application of deep learning models to diagnose neuropsychiatric diseases from brain imaging data has received more and more attention. However, in practice, exploring interactions in brain functional connectivity based on operational magnetic resonance imaging data is critical for studying mental illness. Since Attention-Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a type of chronic disease that is very difficult to diagnose in the early stages, it is necessary to improve the diagnosis accuracy of such illness using machine learning models treating patients before the critical condition. In this study, we utilize the dynamics of brain functional connectivity to model features from medical imaging data, which can extract the differences in brain function interactions between Normal Control (NC) and ADHD. To meet that requirement, we employ the Bayesian connectivity change-point model to detect brain dynamics using the local binary encoding approach and kernel hierarchical extreme learning machine for classifying features. To verify our model, we experimented with it on several real-world children's datasets, and our results achieved superior classification rates compared to the state-of-the-art models.
Refining ADHD diagnosis with EEG: The impact of preprocessing and temporal segmentation on classification accuracy

Abstract:Background: EEG signals are commonly used in ADHD diagnosis, but they are often affected by noise and artifacts. Effective preprocessing and segmentation methods can significantly enhance the accuracy and reliability of ADHD classification. Methods: We applied filtering, ASR, and ICA preprocessing techniques to EEG data from children with ADHD and neurotypical controls. The EEG recordings were segmented, and features were extracted and selected based on statistical significance. Classification was performed using various EEG segments and channels with Machine Learning models (SVM, KNN, and XGBoost) to identify the most effective combinations for accurate ADHD diagnosis. Results: Our findings show that models trained on later EEG segments achieved significantly higher accuracy, indicating the potential role of cognitive fatigue in distinguishing ADHD. The highest classification accuracy (86.1%) was achieved using data from the P3, P4, and C3 channels, with key features such as Kurtosis, Katz fractal dimension, and power spectrums in the Delta, Theta, and Alpha bands contributing to the results. Conclusion: This study highlights the importance of preprocessing and segmentation in improving the reliability of ADHD diagnosis through EEG. The results suggest that further research on cognitive fatigue and segmentation could enhance diagnostic accuracy in ADHD patients.

Abstract:Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the major mental-health disorders worldwide. ADHD is typically characterized by impaired executive function, impulsivity, hyperactivity and with respect to these behavioral symptoms, diagnosis of ADHD is performed. These symptoms are obviously seen at in early stage. Serious impairments and substantial burdens are induced for society as well as to families. However, for ADHD, there is no diagnostic laboratory in current scenario. Psychological tests like Brown Attention Deficit Disorder Scale (BADDS), Conners Parent Rating Scale and ADHD Rating Scale (ADHD-RS) are carried out for ADHD diagnosis. Tedious and complex clinical analysis are needed in this testing and this makes low efficiency of the diagnostic process. A traditional diagnosis technique of ADHD produces degraded results. So, enhanced extreme learning machine is incorporated with existing techniques for avoiding the issues of performance degradation. There is a need to enhance the classifier performance further and there is a chance for unwanted noise in input samples, which may degrade the performance of classifier. For avoiding these issues, an enhanced and automated ADHS diagnosis technique is proposed. First stage is pre-processing, and it is carried out based on min max normalization and feature extraction is a next stage, which is carried out through Fast Independent Component Analysis and third stage is a Deep Extreme Learning Machine (DELM) based ADHD identification and classification. Extreme Learning Machine with Kernel (KELM) and Multilayer Extreme Learning Machine (MLELM) algorithm are combined in this method and it is termed as deep extreme learning machine (DELM). Collection of neuro images are used for quantitative and qualitative analysis and with respect to f-measure, recall, precision and accuracy, robustness of proposed technique is demonstrated.
