Abstract:Analysis of genetic main effects and genotype x environment (GE) interaction effects on the oil content of oilseed rape (Brassica napus L.) was conducted by using a genetic model for the quantitative traits of seeds in diploid plants. The experiments were carried out over two years with 8 parents and a diallel mating design, which produced F1 and F2 generations. We found that the oil content of rape was simultaneously controlled by embryo genetic effect, cytoplasmic effects and maternal genetic effect as well as GE interaction effects, with the cytoplasmic and maternal effects playing the main role. The results indicate that selection of maternal plants for high oil content would be more efficient than selection based on single seeds. Since the GE interaction effects accounted for 73.69% of the total genetic effects and were more important than the genetic main effects it seems that selection might be influenced by environmental conditions. The estimate of narrow-sense heritability for oil content was 73.52% with the interaction heritability being larger than the general heritability, indicating that the early generations can be used for selection for high oil content. The prediction of genetic effects suggested that the parent cultivars Youcai 601 and Gaoyou 605 were better than the other cultivars for increasing oil content during the breeding of B. napus. The implications for the quantitative trait loci mapping of seed traits interfered by these three genetic systems is also discussed.

Abstract:The analysis of temporal patterns of genetic effects for thousand-seed weight (TSW) and oil content (OC) in rapeseed was conducted at five different seed development times using unconditional and conditional genetic models for diploid seed quantitative traits. Phenotypic means among generations and seed development times in 2 different years revealed considerable variation for both TSW and OC. The expression of genes from diploid embryo, cytoplasmic and maternal plant genetic systems were all found to be important for the F-1 generation, with maternal effects playing a more prominent role for both traits at most times. The conditional analysis indicated that the stage-specific gene expression from the maternal plant was influenced by environment. Higher magnitudes of additive and cytoplasmic effects were observed for both traits. Narrow-sense heritability was high for both traits at all developmental times with maternal heritability being more prominent at most times. Genetic correlations between TSW and OC were mostly negative over developmental times.

Abstract:The genetic effects, including genetic main effects and genotype x environment (G x E) interaction effects, for oleic acid content (OAC) and linoleic acid content (LAC) at five different developmental times/stages were studied using unconditional and conditional genetic models for seed quantitative traits in diploid plants. The unconditional analysis results revealed that both OAC and LAC were simultaneously controlled by diploid embryo nuclear genes, cytoplasmic genes and diploid maternal plant nuclear genes and their G x E interaction effects. Effects on the embryo and cytoplasm were found to be more important for OAC at different developmental times while maternal effects, in combination with cytoplasmic effects, were more important for LAC at most development times. The conditional analysis revealed that the net effect from expression of maternal genes was more important for both traits at most developmental stages. The total narrow-sense heritability was high for both OAC and LAC, with general heritabilities being more visible for OAC and G x E interaction heritability being more important for LAC at most development times. The predicted genetic effects indicated that while most parents (with the exception of Youcai 601, Zhongyou 821 and Eyouchangjia) could be used for improving OAC of offspring, Double 20-4 was the most appropriate for improving LAC due to its better stability and positive values across environments at most development times.

Abstract:A genetic model for quantitative traits of seeds in diploid plants was applied to estimate the genetic main effects and genotype × environment (GE) interaction effects for protein content (PC) of rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) by using 2 years of experimental data with a diallel mating design of 8 parents. Results showed that PC of rapeseed was simultaneously controlled by genetic effects of embryo, cytoplasm, and maternal plant, of which the maternal genetic effects were most important, followed by embryo and cytoplasmic genetic effects. Therefore, improvement of PC of rapeseed would be more efficient when selection is based on maternal plants than that on single seeds. Since the GE interaction effects accounted for about 60.10% of total genetic effect, they were more important than the genetic main effects, and selection for PC might be influenced by environmental conditions. The total narrow-sense heritability for PC was 64.17%, of which the interaction heritability was larger than the general heritability. Selection for improving PC can therefore be conducted in early generations. Maternal heritability (41.59%) was most important for PC, followed by cytoplasmic heritability (17.62%) and then by embryo heritability (5.25%). Based on prediction of genetic effects, parent Youcai 601 was better than others for increasing PC in rapeseed breeding.
Genetic Analysis for Pod Weight at Different Developmental Stages in Brassica Napus L

Abstract:Pod weight (PW),an important quantitative trait very closely related to seed yield,was analyzed using conditional and unconditional genetic models to find out the dynamic effects of genes for this trait during rapeseed development,which comprised of pods harvested at 15,22,29,36 and 43 days after flowering and fertilization. For the unconditional analysis,the additive effects were found to be more important at most stages except for the developmental time of 22 day at which the dominant effects were more prominent. For the conditional analysis,16-22 days after flowering was found to be the most active period for dynamic expression of genes related to pod weight as many new genes were expressed during this period. Heritability analysis revealed that selection in early generations could be effective for improving pod weight in oilseed rape breeding. Prediction of genetic effects for oilseed rape parents showed that Double 20-4,Zhong R-888 and Tower could be used for improving PW in oilseed rape breeding,which Zhong R-888 was the best one. The results further indicate that the heterosis over mid-parent value based on population mean at the stages of 16-22 and 23-29 days was significantly larger than those at other stages.
Timing of Gene Expression from Different Genetic Systems in Shaping Leucine and Isoleucine Contents of Rapeseed (brassica Napus L.) Meal

Abstract:Experiments were conducted on rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) using a diallel design with nine parents: Youcai 601, Double 20-4, Huashuang 3, Gaoyou 605, Zhongyou 821, Eyouchangjia, Zhong R-888, Tower and Zheshuang 72. The seed developmental process was divided into five stages, namely initial (days 1–15 after flowering), early (days 16–22 after flowering), middle (days 23–29), late (days 30–36), and maturing (days 37–43) developmental stages. The variation of dynamic genetic effects for leucine and isoleucine contents of rapeseed meal was analysed at five developmental stages, across different environments using the genetic models with time-dependent measures. The results from unconditional and conditional analyses indicated that the expression of diploid embryo, cytoplasmic and diploid maternal plant genes were important for leucine and isoleucine contents at different developmental stages of rapeseed, particularly at the initial and early developmental stages. Among different genetic systems, nutrition quality traits were mainly controlled by the accumulative or net maternal main effects and their GE interaction effects, except at maturity when the net diploid embryo effects were larger. The expression of genes was affected by the environmental conditions on 15, 22, 29 or 36 days after flowering, but was more stable at mature stage. For the isoleucine content the narrow-sense heritabilities on 15, 22, 29, 36, and 43 days after flowering were 43.0, 65.7, 60.1, 65.5 and 78.2%, respectively, while for the leucine content the corresponding narrow-sense heritabilities were relatively smaller. The interaction heritabilities were more important than the general heritabilities at the first three developmental times. The improvement for isoleucine content could be achieved by selection based on the higher narrow-sense heritabilities. Various genetic systems exhibited genetic correlations among the developmental times or leucine and isoleucine contents. A simultaneous improvement of leucine and isoleucine contents seems possible because of the significant positive genetic correlation components from different genetic systems at different developmental times.
Developmental Genetic Analysis for Protein Content of Rapeseed Meal in Different Developmental Environments

Abstract:The genetic main effects and genotype × environment(GE) interaction effects of embryo,cytoplasm and maternal genetic systems on the protein content(PC) of rapeseed meal were analyzed from two-year experimental data under different growing conditions by using both conditional and unconditional analysis methods.Results: Embryo nuclear genes,cytoplasmic genes and maternal plant nuclear genes simultaneously control PC of rapeseed meal,among which diploid maternal plant effect and additive effect are of critical importance.The GE interaction effects also show significant influence on the gene expression patterns for PC during all the seed development stages,especially for the maternal interaction effects.The differences and discontinuity of gene expression during seed development are also observed by using the conditional analysis method.The heritability analysis reveals that the maternal heritability is more prominent for PC during seed development times,except the 22nd day post anthesis.Thus it is suggested that maternal plant selection can be utilized to improve PC in rapeseed breeding program.The study further suggests that Zhongyou 821 and Eyouchangjia are better than other parents for increasing PC of rapeseed meal in progenies.

Abstract:derived at maturity from eight plants in the middle part of each plot. Samples of F1 seeds analysed were obtained by using the method of isolated pollination during the flower- ing season. Fatty acids—palmitic acid content (PAC), oleic acid content (OAC), linoleic acid content (LAC), linolenic acid content (LLAC), eicosenoic acid content (EIAC) and erucic acid content (EAC)—were determined (%) by gas chromatography (Zhou and Liu 1987) on a Shimadzu GC- 9A. Glucosinolate content (GSLC; µmol/g), oil content (OC; %) and protein content (PC; %) were also determined by near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy using a NIRSystems model 5000 monochromator (Shenk and Westerhaus 1993), for which about 3 g of each intact sample was scanned in a small ring cup of 36 mm inner diameter. Since the performance of rapeseed quality traits could be simultaneously controlled by different genetic systems, including diploid embryo, cytoplasm and diploid maternal plant, the genotypic correlation among these seed-quality traits may be further partitioned into different components, including embryo additive and dominance correlations, cyto- plasmic correlation, maternal additive and dominance corre- lations, and their G × E interaction correlations. Abstract:The dynamic expression of genes for oil and protein contents of rapeseed ( Brassica napus L.) was carried out with time-dependent measures by using the developmental genetic models for quantitative traits in diploid plant. The unconditional and conditional analysis showed that the accumulated genetic effects or net genetic effects from diploid embryo nuclear genes, cytoplasmic genes and diploid maternal plant nuclear genes were all important for the performance of both nutrient quality traits at most developmental times/stages. Results from the conditional analysis further revealed that the activation of quantitative genes was gradually carried through the developmental process with maternal genes playing more active role at most developmental stages. Additive effects from embryo and maternal plant were found more important than the dominant effects at most developmental times/stages for both traits, and especially for protein content of rapeseed. Heritability analysis confirmed that the maternal heritability for protein contents were considerably stronger throughout developmental period except for the developmental time at 22 days, while for oil content the heritability components were dynamic and time dependent. The differences of genetic relationships from various genetic systems were found for oil and protein contents among the developmental times or between the two quality traits.
Dynamic Gene Expression Analysis of Maternal, Cytoplasmic and Embryo Genetic Systems for Linolenic and Erucic Acid Contents in Rapeseed (brassica Napus L.)

Abstract:The genetic effects including genetic main effects and genotype × environment (GE) interaction effects were analyzed for linolenic acid content (LLAC) and erucic acid content (EAC) in rapeseed using unconditional and conditional genetic models for diploid seed quantitative traits. The results from unconditional analysis revealed that GE effects were important for both traits during seed development. Also the higher magnitude of embryo effects at different developmental times indicated that seed selection would be useful for improving these quality traits in rapeseed. The conditional analysis showed that new expression of genes from maternal and embryo genetic systems occurred during different developmental stages and their magnitude could be influenced by the GE effects. The total narrow-sense heritability was high for both LLAC and EAC, with general heritability being more prominent for EAC at 15 days (32.87 %), 29 days (31.44 %), 36 days (60.55 %) and 43 days (76.45 %), and GE interaction heritability dominating for LLAC at 22 days (40.57 %), 29 days (60.91 %), 36 days (63.83 %) and 43 days (47.45 %) after flowering, respectively. Phenotypic and genotypic correlations for both traits were positive among some pairwise developmental times indicating that genes expressed at these times complemented each other to improve LLAC or EAC in rapeseed. Significant negative correlation between LLAC and EAC at most developmental times indicated that it may not be possible to simultaneously reduce the contents of both traits by indirect selection.
Diallel Analysis and Heritability of Grain Yield, Yield Components, and Maturity Traits in Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.)

Abstract:Information on combining ability and reciprocal effects (REC) facilitates efficient utilization of genetic materials in a breeding program. This study was conducted (at the CSIR-Savanna Agricultural Research Institute, Ghana) to determine general combining ability (GCA) and specific combining ability (SCA), heritability, genetic advance, GCA, and SCA effects as well as the relationship between parents per se performance and progenies for yield components and maturity traits in cowpea. The test populations were derived using a 5 × 5 complete diallel cross of parents with different yield attributes and maturity durations. The results indicated that GCA was predominant for number of days to 90% pod maturity, plant height at maturity, and hundred-seed weight. This showed that genes with additive effects conditioned these traits. Padi-Tuya, Songotra, and IT86D-610 were identified as good general combiners for grain yield, while Sanzi-Nya was identified as a general combiner for developing extra-early duration cowpea varieties. Crosses Songotra × Sanzi-Nya, SARC-1-57-2 × IT86D-610, Songotra × SARC-1-57-2, and Padi-Tuya × Songotra were identified as good specific combiners for days to 50% flowering, pod length, pods per plant, pod yield, grain yield, and seeds per pod. The findings from this study provide useful information on the inheritance of early maturity and yield traits in cowpea. This can be exploited to develop high yielding and early maturing cowpea varieties as climate smart strategy to mitigate climate change via breeding methods such as pedigree selection and marker assisted backcrossing (MABC). Pedigree selection method is being used to develop varieties from the hybrid with high and significant SCA for grain yield, whereas the development of extra-early duration varieties via MABC with Sanzi-Nya (general combiner for earliness traits) as a donor parent is ongoing.

Abstract:Genetic information of bean seed traits can be an immense help to the breeder in selection of suitable genotypes and the appropriate breeding strategies. Therefore, the investigation aims to assess the genetic variability and to elucidate the genetic analysis of seed dietary fibre, carbohydrate, seed calcium and phosphorus contents of Phaseolus vulgaris in the high Guinean Savannah zone conditions. 5 × 5 half-diallel crosses of these traits were conducted in randomized complete block design with three replications. Results revealed high differences between five lines beans ( p < 0.05), suggesting the sufficient genetic diversity for these traits. High broad sense heritability values were recorded for seed dietary fibre, carbohydrate and seed calcium content, attesting a strong implication of the genetic factors in the control of these traits; thereby, these traits can be improved through regular selection. The ratio GCA/SCA was greater than unity only for seed phosphorus content. It indicates the prevalence of additive gene effect in the involvement of the genetic control for this trait. The combining ability analysis revealed highly significant differences between parental GCA effects and F 1 cross SCA effects. The PB, BI, CT and PR lines beans will prove useful in common bean breeding programmes as donor genotypes, in the development of bean genetic resources for betterment improvement of nutritional traits.

Abstract:Analysis of genetic main effects and GE interaction effects for oil index(OID), protein index (PID), and lysineindex (LID) of Upland cotton ( Gossypium hirsutum L.) were conducted for2-yr diallel cross data by using a seedgenetic model. Analysis approaches ofunconditional and conditional variances andcorrelations were employed to evaluatedevelopmental behavior of cottonseed. Thephenotypic means were relatively larger forF 2 generation than F 1 generation,and larger for all generations in 1993 thanin 1994. The results of variance analysisindicated that OID, PID, and LID weresimultaneously controlled by seed nuclear,cytoplasm, and maternal nuclear effects.Genetic effects due to maternal nuclearwere relatively more important at wholedevelopmental period. GE interactioneffects were the main contribution to thetotal variation of OID at first two stages,of PID at the forth stage, and of LIDacross all four stages, respectively. Notonly the phenotypic correlationcoefficients but also the coefficients dueto different genetic effects variedsignificantly between traits themselves atvarious stages. Different genetic effectscaused the variation of the correlationshipbetween traits themselves at various stages.
Analysis of Genetic Effect and Correlation for Seed Quality Traits in Transgenic Bt Insect-resistant Cotton

Abstract:With genetic models for diploid plant seed,data for 9 upland cotton parents and 30 hybrid combinations were analyzed for three seed physical traits(seed index,kernel percentage,kernel/hull)and three kernel nutrient quality traits(protein content,oil content,gossypol content).The results indicated that the embryo effects and maternal effects for seed quality traits were more important than that of cytoplasmic effects.In addition,kernel percentage was controlled by cytoplasmic effects.Seed index and kernel/hull were mainly controlled by the maternal dominant effects.Protein content was controlled by the dominant effects.The maternal additive effects were the mainly effects for gossypol content and oil content.Maternal correlations were chief between the kernel percentage and kernel/hull,as well as that with three nutrient quality traits.Correlation components were estimated among six seed or kernel quality traits.The positive dominant correlation was obtained between seed index and protein content.Significant negative dominant correlations were found between seed index and gossypol content,as well as seed index and oil content.

Abstract:A recombinant inbred line (RIL) population with 215 lines derived from a cross between a highly yield line Zheng8903 (female parent) and a variety Yuhua No. 4 (male parent) was used in this research. The RILs population was grown in three environments to make a genetics analysis of yield from F-7 to F-9. Jointly segregating analysis was used to analyze the genetics of yield in the combination of Zheng8903xYuhua No. 4 using the method of major gene plus polygene mixed inheritance model. The results indicated that the optimum model of yield trait was two major genes plus polygenes mixed inheritance models and its expression could be greatly influenced by different environments. The heritability of major gene for the yield trait in the RILs was 70.73, 40.29 and 37.79% at Zhengzhou, Sanya and Yuanyang, respectively. The yield had significant major gene effect and the results implied that not only should the two major genes' effects be considered but also the polygene's effect should be considered in breeding to increase peanut yield.

Abstract:Crop seeds are important sources of protein, oil, and carbohydrates for food, animal feeds, and industrial products. Recently, much attention has been paid to quality and functional properties of crop seeds. However, seed traits possess some distinct genetic characteristics in comparison with plant traits, which increase the difficulty of genetically improving these traits. In this study, diallel analysis for seed models with genotype by environment interaction (GE) effect was applied to estimate the variance-covariance components of seed traits. Mixed linear model approaches were used to estimate the genetic covariances between pair-wise seed and plant traits. The breeding values (BV) were divided into two categories for the seed models. The first category of BV was defined as the combination of direct additive, cytoplasmic, and maternal additive effects, which should be utilized for selecting stable cultivars over multi-environments. The three genetic effects, together with their GE interaction, were included in the second category of BV for selecting special lines to be grown in specific ecosystems. Accordingly, two types of selection indices for seed traits, i.e., general selection index and interaction selection index, were developed and constructed on the first and the second category BV, respectively. These proposed selection indices can be applied to solve the difficult task of simultaneously improving multiple seed traits in various environments. Data of crop seeds with regard to four seed traits and four yield traits based on the modified diallel crosses in Upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) were used as an example for demonstrating the proposed methodology.

Abstract:Cucurbita moschata varieties grown in Africa have very low yield. They have been neglected, and totally ignored in agricultural research programs. However, interest in their fruits, seeds, flowers and leaves is growing nowadays due to their nutritional and medicinal potentials. That growing interest has prompted plant breeders and agronomists to develop research programs for their improvement. A complete diallel cross analysis of four parental lines, Long, Zouan-H, Oval, and Soubre and their twelve F1 hybrids, was carried out in a farming environment at the University Nangui Abrogoua, Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. The four parental lines and the F1 hybrids were evaluated for their general performances, combining abilities, potency ratio and heterosis effects. The investigated traits included plant height, and eleven fruit- and seed-related characters. The analysis of variance showed significant differences for all traits studied. In addition, the diallel model yielded highly significant gca effects of the female parents. The gca effects of the male parents were significant for all traits except plant height, length of the fruit, width of the fruit and length of the seed. Highly significant sca effects were observed in the crosses for all the traits. Strong maternal effects were observed for the weight and diameter of the fruit, weight of the pulp, number of seeds per fruit, weight of the fresh seeds and 100-seed weight. The general predictive ratio approached the value 1 for all the traits except weight of the fresh seed and width of the dry seed. Most of the characters under this study are predominantly determined by the effects of additive genes. But, weight of the fresh seed and width of the dry seed may be controlled by non-additive genes. Mid-parent heterosis was significant for all measured traits in the crosses, except the length of the fruit. And better-parent heterosis was significant for all traits except plant height, number of fruits per plant and length of the fruit. Gene expression is described by a super-dominance for many traits, and partial dominance for some other traits in all twelve F1 hybrids. Classification of the parental lines based on the effects of their general combining ability grouped the Soubre lines as promising contributors to fruit yield. The parental lines Long and Oval formed another group likely on the basis of the small size of their fruits, the small pulps, the smaller number of fruits per plant and the large number of seeds per fruit. However, Long would be a candidate parent for the development of cultivars with longer vegetative growth. The parental line Zouan-H formed the third group and it was mostly characterized by its large number of seeds per fruit and relatively large fruits.

Abstract:Improving yield via assessment of different yield-related genetic parameters specifically with the challenges of yield × traits combination is a prominent issue for plant breeders. A graphical and numerical description of diallel analysis by yield × traits with the novelty of the parent selection with desirable genetic architecture in rapeseed was illustrated via Hayman and biplot approaches. Eleven divers' parents and their F1 offspring, achieved via a complete diallel mating fashion, were evaluated under field conditions based on randomized complete block design replicated thrice throught 2018-2020. Integrated yield × traits analysis revealed highly significant additive and non-additive gene effects which were confirmed by the meaningful general and specific combining ability of evaluated multi-traits. Graphical Wr-Vr analysis, depicted partial dominance gene action for yield × traits, except yield × thousand grain yield which is governed by over-dominance gene action.The biplot polygon panorama identified the most desirable heterotic parents with higher general and specific combining ability, and more dominant genes including [(P9) × (P4, P6, P10) for yield × pod]; [(P9) × (P7), (P6) × (P11) and (P7) × (P10) for yield × thousand grain yield] and [(P10 × P3) for yield/flowering, yield/physiological maturity, yield/plant height]. These findings suggested that a breeder should consider superior parents with high × high general and specific combining ability according to combining their yield and its related genetic parameters as important traits with all other target characters via descripted approaches.

Abstract:Background: The breeder’s ability to identify and exploit genetic diversity at the genotypic level is essential for the success of any breeding effort. It requires evaluating various treatments for a variety of traits in order to choose parents with the greatest genetic diversity. The purpose of this research is to characterize the genetic variation among 48 groundnut accessions with 6 checks. Methods: Experiment was conducted to study groundnut genotypes for 15 varied traits such as phenological, yield attributing and biochemical ones. Data analysis for principal component analysis (PCA) is done using R software. Result: Principal component analysis (PCA) was carried out to investigate the principal components of variance usingtraits of study. Total variance among characters are classified into 15 principal components. Out of which first five components have eigen value greater than 1 contributing to 65.9% total variance. PC 1 alone accounted for highest variance of 16.3%, followed by PC 2 with 12.6%. PC1 explained a large amount of variation in important traits as number of mature kernels per plant, total number of kernels per plant, pod yield per plant and kernel yield per plant. PC 2 have positive influence on days to 50% flowering, days to maturity, number of branches per plant, biological yield per plant, number of mature kernels per plant, total number of kernels per plant, sound mature kernel percentage, oil content and harvest index.
Genetic Analyses of Agronomic and Seed Quality Traits of Synthetic Oilseed Brassica Napus Produced from Interspecific Hybridization of B. Campestris and B. Oleracea

Abstract:The heritability, the number of segregating genes and the type of gene interaction of nine agronomic traits were analysed based on F-2 populations of synthetic oilseed Brassica napus produced from interspecific hybridization of B. campestris and B. oleracea through ovary culture. The nine traits-plant height, stem width, number of branches, length of main raceme, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, length of pod, seed weight per plant and 1000-seed weight-had heritabilities of 0.927, 0.215, 0.172, 0.381, 0.360, 0.972, 0.952, 0.516 and 0.987 respectively, while the mean numbers of controlling genes for these characters were 7.4, 10.4, 9.9, 12.9, 11.5, 21.7, 20.5, 19.8 and 6.4 respectively. According to estimated coefficients of skewness and kurtosis of the traits tested, no significant gene interaction was found for plant height, stem width, number of branches, length of main raceme, number of seeds per pod and 1000-seed weight. Seed yield per plant is an important target for oilseed production. In partial correlation analysis, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod and 1000-seed weight were positively correlated with seed yield per plant. On the other hand, length of pod was negatively correlated (r = -0.69) with seed yield per plant. Other agronomic characters had no significant correlation to seed yield per plant. In this experiment, the linear regressions of seed yield per plant and other agronomic traits were also analysed. The linear regression equation was y = 0.074x(8) + 1.819x(9) + 6.72x(12) - 60.78 (R-2 = 0.993), where x(8), x(9) and x(12) represent number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod and 1000-seed weight respectively. The experiment also showed that erucic acid and oil contents of seeds from F2 plants were lower than those of their maternal parents. However, glucosinolate content was higher than that of the maternal plants. As for protein content, similar results were found in the F2 plants and their maternal parents. It was shown that the four quality traits, i.e. erucic acid, glucosinolate, oil content, and protein content, had heritability values of 0.614, 0.405, 0.153 and 0.680 respectively.
