Abstract:All-inorganic perovskites CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) have attracted worldwide interest due to their excellent luminescent performances. Meanwhile, Cs4PbBr6 have been studied because they can enhance the luminescent efficiency and stability of CsPbBr3. Herein, we introduced a microfluidic method based on room-temperature supersaturated recrystallization to synthesize blue-emitting CsPbBr3 nanocrystals (NCs) and green-emitting CsPbBr3/Cs4PbBr6 NCs. The ultrasmall CsPbBr3 NCs emitted at a deep blue wavelength of 461 nm with the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 15 nm. transmission electron microscopy (TEM) results demonstrated that ultrasmall CsPbBr3 NCs with the average particle size of 3.8 nm were synthesized and the CsPbBr3 NCs were crystallized as monoclinic structure. X-ray photoelectron spectrometer (XPS) analysis suggested that ultrasmall CsPbBr3 suffered from VBr defect and the surface passivation of Cs4PbBr6 possessed a low level of VBr defect density. The lifetime of CsPbBr3/Cs4PbBr6 was much longer than that of CsPbBr3. The results showed that ultrasmall CsPbBr3 NCs can be regarded as a source of blue-emitting material and CsPbBr3/Cs4PbBr6 NCs had a better stability.Graphic abstract

Abstract:This study explores the use of ligand-assisted reprecipitation (LARP) as an alternative method for mass production of perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs), in combination with high-throughput synthesis, automated characterization, and machine learning. The study systematically explores the influence of chemical and processing parameters on the growths, structures, and functionalities of the PNCs. A mechanism in which ligand diffusion during crystallization determines the PNC structures and functionalities is proposed. This approach paves the way to explore in-depth chemistry and processing optimization of PNC synthesis.

Abstract:All-inorganic perovskite nanocrystals (CsPbX3, X = Cl, Br, and I) have attracted increasing attention in various fields due to their unique optoelectronic properties. However, the vulnerable structure of CsPbX3 in aqueous solutions severely limits its further application in diverse fields. Although many protocols have been developed, the synthesis of all-inorganic CsPbX3 nanocrystals in a large-scale and environment-friendly manner remains a significant challenge. Here, we demonstrate a facile strategy for modifying CsPbX3 with a zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF-8) through mechanical milling, which can be used for the large-scale synthesis of CsPbX3@ZIF-8 composites. More importantly, the as-prepared composites display superior stability, and the photoluminescence (PL) intensity remains ∼86.7% after 8 weeks. Detailed characterizations indicate that the synergy in the composites can significantly facilitate the separation of photoinduced electrons and holes, leading to an increase in the photocurrent intensity. For photocatalytic H2 evolution under visible light, the optimal CsPbBr3@ZIF-8 composite exhibits a H2 productivity of 19.63 μmol·g–1 H2 after 2.5 h, thus proving to be a promising catalyst for photocatalytic H2 evolution under visible light in aqueous solutions. This work may not only provide a facile strategy for the modification of CsPbX3 nanocrystals but also promotes their practical applications in diverse fields.

Abstract:Colloidal nanocrystals of fully inorganic cesium lead halide (CsPbX3, X = Cl, Br, I, or combinations thereof) perovskites have attracted much attention for photonic and optoelectronic applications. Herein, we demonstrate a facile room-temperature (e.g., 25 °C), ligand-mediated reprecipitation strategy for systematically manipulating the shape of CsPbX3 colloidal nanocrystals, such as spherical quantum dots, nanocubes, nanorods, and nanoplatelets. The colloidal spherical quantum dots of CsPbX3 were synthesized with photoluminescence (PL) quantum yield values up to >80%, and the corresponding PL emission peaks covering the visible range from 380 to 693 nm. Besides spherical quantum dots, the shape of CsPbX3 nanocrystals could be engineered into nanocubes, one-dimensional nanorods, and two-dimensional few-unit-cell-thick nanoplatelets with well-defined morphology by choosing different organic acid and amine ligands via the reprecipitation process. The shape-dependent PL decay lifetimes have been determined to be several to tens to hundreds of nanoseconds. Our method provides a facile and versatile route to rationally control the shape of the CsPbX3 perovskites nanocrystals, which will create opportunities for applications such as displays, lasing, light-emitting diodes, solar concentrators, and photon detection.
Synthesis and Improved Photoluminescent Properties and Stability of Bromine‐Rich CsPbBr3 Nanocrystals Via using CTAB as Additive

Abstract:This study reports a simple one‐pot fabrication method to prepare CsPbBr3 nanocrystals (NCs) by combining a water bath heating method with surface engineering strategy. CsPbBr3 NCs with high stability and high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) are finally synthesized through the common passivation of perovskite nanocrystals by cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and oleylamine (OLA). Although CsPbBr3 nanocrystals (NCs) show excellent optoelectronic properties, their stability greatly limits their potential applications due to the ionicity. Stable bromine‐rich CsPbBr3 nanocrystals (NCs) are achieved by the thermal injection method, which includes adding cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) to a cesium oleate precursor solution. The CTAB as a ligand provides strong binding to the NC surface to effectively passivate the surface defects, and most importantly helps to realize the formation of bromine‐rich CsPbBr3 NCs. The obtained bromine‐rich CsPbBr3 NCs show higher photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQYs) and enhanced moisture and UV illumination stability. These results provide a simple strategy to synthesize bromine‐rich CsPbBr3 NCs, which can be promising for integrating into the synthesize technique of perovskite optoelectronic devices.

Abstract:Cesium lead bromide (CsPbBr3) perovskite nanocrystals are becoming a popular alternative to chalcogenide quantum dots because of their bright green fluorescence and high color purity. However, owing to the poor stability caused by their highly ionic nature and the dynamic binding of long-chain capping ligands, their practical applications are limited. Although (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES) is a frequently used insulating material for wrapping CsPbBr3nanocrystals, it often causes surface etching. To address this issue, we introduced oleic acid into the anti-solvent toluene to inhibit the etching effect of APTES using a modified room-temperature ligand-assisted reprecipitation process. We utilized in situ time-dependent photoluminescence measurements to study the formation kinetics of CsPbBr3nanocrystals and determine the optimal ligands ratio. This innovative approach enables precise control over CsPbBr3@SiO2nanoparticles synthesis, yielding uniformly shaped nanocrystals with a silica shell, a consistent size around 10.17 ± 1.6 nm, and enhanced photoluminescence quantum yields ranging from 90% and 100%. The photoluminescence lifetimes of our CsPbBr3@SiO2nanoparticles were significantly prolonged owing to a reduction in non-radiative recombination. This boosts their stability in thermal and polar solvent environments, making them superior candidates for use in photonic devices.

Abstract:Embedding CsPbX3 (XCl, Br, I) perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) into glasses can significantly improve the chemical and thermal properties, and show promising applications in photonic fields. Spatially controlled precipitation of PNCs in glasses is necessary for the fabrication of structured devices. Here, we report that spatially controlled precipitation of CsPbX3 PNCs in the surface layer of glasses through ion-exchange in molten cesium nitrate salt. Spatial distribution and average diameter of CsPbX3 PNCs are mainly determined by the distribution of Cs+ and halide ions, and composition of CsPbX3 PNCs is mainly determined by the composition of host glass. Through ion-exchange, CsPbCl3−xBrx and CsPbBr3−xIx PNCs with tunable compositions are precipitated in the surface layer of glasses, and efficient photoluminescence spanning from blue to cyan, green, yellow, orange, and red is realized. Our results demonstrate that ion-exchange is promising to fabricate planar and linear waveguides and various microstructures based on CsPbX3 PNCs embedded glasses.

Abstract:All-inorganic cesium lead halide perovskites have shown great potential in optoelectronic field owing to their fascinating optical properties. Despite the huge success achieved in various fields, the applications of perovskite materials are impeded by their poor stability caused by their inherent ionic nature and highly dynamic surface nature. The preparation of CsPbBr 3 -Cs 4 PbBr 6 nanocrystals has proven to be effective strategy to enhance the photoluminescence properties and the stability. Herein, for the first time, we report a facile synthesis of CsPbBr 3 -Cs 4 PbBr 6 nanocrystals with diphase structure at room temperature using Cs-OA, Pb-OA and TOABr as precursors in toluene. It is found that the phase transformation and the relative composition between CsPbBr 3 and Cs 4 PbBr 6 is dependent of the concentration of TOABr and the ratio of Cs/Pb. In-situ PL experiments reveal that the formation of ~12 nm CsPbBr 3 nanocubes experience the fast nucleation, the focusing of size-distribution in early growth stage and Ostwald ripening growth in later stage at TOABr concentration of 0.16 mmol. With increasing the concentration of TOABr or Cs/Pb>1(Cs/Pb<1), [PbBr 4 ] 2- complex and [PbBr 3 ] - complex can exist at the same time and compete in toluene, the formation of CsPbBr 3 nucleates is dominated in the early stage, then CsPbBr 3- Cs 4 PbBr 6 nanocomposites are gradually formed on CsPbBr 3 nucleates as photoluminescence centers owing to the continuously generation of [PbBr 4 ] 2- complex between TOABr and Pb 2+ . The relative composition of Cs 4 PbBr 6 inCsPbBr 3- Cs 4 PbBr 6 nanocomposites can be improved from 4% to 85% with increasing the concentration of TOABr or Cs/Pb<1. The optimized CsPbBr 3 -Cs 4 PbBr 6 composite nanocrystals possess high PLQY and stability. Our work offers a mechanistic understanding of phase transformation in cesium lead halide perovskite materials.

Abstract:Perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) have attracted widespread attention as promising materials for the optoelectronic field due to their remarkable photophysical properties and structural tunability. However, their poor stability and the use of toxic organic solvents in the preparation process have severely restricted their practical applications. Herein, a facile, rapid and toxic organic solvent-free synthesis strategy of CsPbBr3 PNCs was developed for the first time via the ligand-assisted reprecipitation (LARP) method using natural deep eutectic solvents (NADESs) as solvents and surface ligands. In this method, the NADESs not only functioned as solvents for green synthesis, but also served simultaneously as surface ligands of CsPbBr3 PNCs to significantly improve their optical properties and stability. The as-synthesized CsPbBr3 PNCs exhibited high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY, ∼96.8%), narrow full width at half-maximum (FWHM, ∼18.8 nm) and a high stability that retained 82.9% of PL intensity after 70 days. This work provides a new strategy for the green synthesis of PNCs, which promises feasibility for the industrial large-scale synthesis of high-quality PNCs.

Abstract:Cesium lead halide perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) have attracted unprecedented attention owing to their compelling properties for optoelectronic applications. Compared with the classical hot-injection method, the room-temperature (RT) synthetic strategy is more facile and tender, but it is hard to obtain stable CsPbI3 NCs and it usually uses polar solvents that sometimes reduce the stability and properties of NCs. Here, we reported a simple approach to synthesize highly efficient and stable CsPbI3 as well as other color-tunable CsPbX3 NCs with high quantum efficiency at room temperature via an anion exchange at the water-oil interface, in which the as-synthesized pristine CsPbBr3 NCs in toluene were treated in aqueous solutions of HX (X=Cl, Br, and I) and protonated oleylamine (OAm) acted as a carrier. The synthesized CsPbI3 NCs had an emission at 680 nm and even showed excellent colloidal stability after being stored for 32 d. The high efficiency and stability of the obtained CsPbX3 NCs were ascribed to the facts that: (i) the polar reagents were almost removed from the surface of NCs; (ii) the defect-related nonradiative recombination was suppressed efficiently by surface passivation.

Abstract:As a kind of promising optoelectrical material, all-inorganic perovskite nanocrystals CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) have attracted much attention, due to their excellent optoelectrical characteristics, in recent years. However, their synthesis approaches require rigorous conditions, including high temperature, eco-unfriendly solvent or complex post-synthesis process. Herein, to overcome these issues, we reported a novel facile room temperature in-situ strategy using ultraviolet polymerizable acrylic monomer as solvent to synthesis CsPbX3 nanocrystals without a complex post-synthesis process. In this strategy, adequate soluble precursors of Cs, Pb and Br and reaction terminating agent 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) were used. The obtained CsPbBr3 nanocrystals showed a high photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQY) of 87.5%. The corresponding polymer composites, by adding light initiator and oligomer under ultraviolet light radiation, performed excellent stability in light, air, moisture and high temperature. The reaction process and the effect of the reaction terminating agent have been investigated in detail. This strategy is a universal one for synthesizing CsPbX3 nanocrystals covering visible light range by introducing HCl and ZnI2.
Multivariant Ligands Stabilize Anionic Solvent-Oriented Α-Cspbx3 Nanocrystals at Room Temperature.

Abstract:Cubic phase CsPbX3 nanocrystals (NCs) are promising candidates for optoelectronic applications. However, their chemical stability heavily depends on the dynamic ionic surface. In this work, based on the interdependency of the ligands and the reaction solvent, a protocol is developed for high-quality α-CsPbX3 under ambient conditions. Utilizing this method, the size and full width at half maximum of CsPbX3 NCs can be simply tuned via changing the cationic ligands or reaction solvent, such as CH3Cl, CH2Cl2, or toluene. One remarkable result is the synthesis of cubic CsPbI3 NCs, for which large-scale syntheses have not been reported in the literature except for our method, due to significant phase transition at room temperature. Another result is that we have realized ultrasmall sized CsPbCl3 NCs with emission at 385 nm for the first time. Furthermore, the elimination of reaction solvent (such as ODE, DMSO, DMF) in our protocol reduces the purification-induced surface ligand loss and the irreversible phase transition to a nonfluorescent phase. Our CsPbX3 NCs show near-perfect photoluminescence quantum yield (PL QY) and long-term stability in the presence of moisture. Further characterization demonstrates that all the ligands, whether the initial paired X type or the degenerated hybrid L-X type, remain perfectly passivating on the defect sites throughout.

Abstract:A novel one pot process has been developed for the preparation of PbS nanocrystals in the conjugated polymer poly 2-methoxy, 5-(2 - ethyl-hexyloxy-p-phenylenevinylene) (MEH-PPV). Current techniques for making such composite materials rely upon synthesizing the nanocrystals and conducting polymer separately, and subsequently mixing them. This multi-step technique has two serious drawbacks: templating surfactant must be removed before mixing, and co-solvent incompatibility causes aggregation. In our method, we eliminate the need for an initial surfactant by using the conducting polymer to terminate and template nanocrystal growth. Additionally, the final product is soluble in a single solvent. We present materials analysis which shows PbS nanocrystals can be grown directly in a conducting polymer, the resulting composite is highly ordered and nanocrystal size can be controlled.

Abstract:In this work, a facile solution based on the supersaturated crystallization principle combined with an ion exchange strategy was employed for the preparation of all-inorganic lead halide perovskite CsPbX 3 quantum dots (X = Cl, Br, I, and their combinations) under an ambient atmosphere. As the results showed, with the progression of Br–Cl and Br–I ion exchange, the green emission of pure CsPbBr 3 gradually turned to cyan and blue, yellow, and red, respectively. Thus, the emission featured a broad wavelength range from 472 nm to 638 nm. With regard to the morphology, the as-synthesized quantum dots were all spherical and monodisperse, and the crystal size increased from the blue to the red samples. Furthermore, the chemical composition investigated by energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) confirmed the successful Br–Cl or Br–I ion exchange, and the obtained samples were expressed as CsPbBr 1.9 Cl 1.1 , CsPbBr 2.1 Cl 0.9 , CsPbBr 3 , CsPbBr 1.7 I 1.3 , and CsPbBr 0.9 I 2.1 for blue, cyan, green, yellow, and red samples, respectively. In future work, the as-synthesized samples will be investigated for use in an optoelectronic device application.
