Novel Tb³⁺-Doped LaAl₂B₄O₁₀ phosphors: Structural analysis, luminescent properties, and energy transfer mechanism

Abstract:This study explores the structural and luminescent properties of terbium (Tb³⁺)-doped lanthanum aluminium borate (LaAl₂B₄O₁₀, abbreviated as LAB) phosphors, a novel host lattice for Tb³⁺ doping. LAB:Tb³⁺ phosphors, with varying dopant concentrations, were synthesized using a microwave-assisted combustion synthesis approach and characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Rietveld refinement, and photoluminescence spectroscopy at both room and low temperatures. The structural analysis confirmed the hexagonal crystal structure of LAB and revealed successful incorporation of Tb³⁺ ions without altering the fundamental lattice. Luminescence studies demonstrated that the LAB:Tb³⁺ phosphors show strong green emission primarily attributed to the 5D4→7F5 transition of Tb³⁺. The optimal doping concentration was determined to be 5 wt% Tb³⁺, which provided maximum luminescence efficiency. This concentration also allowed for a critical study of energy transfer mechanisms within the phosphor, revealing dipole-dipole interactions with a critical distance of 9.80 Å between Tb³⁺ ions. Additionally, the CIE chromaticity coordinates of LAB:0.05 Tb³⁺ were precisely determined to be (0.289, 0.4460), indicating the potential for high-quality green emission suitable for solid-state lighting and display technologies. This work not only demonstrates the potential of LAB:Tb3+ as a highly efficient green luminescent material, but also sheds light on the mechanisms responsible for energy transfer and concentration quenching.
Structural and tunable optical properties of LiMgPO4:Tb3+ phosphor fabricated by sol–gel method

Abstract:In the study, Tb3+‐doped LiMgPO4 phosphors between .10 and 5 mol% were successfully synthesized by the sol–gel process. The crystal structure of Tb3+‐doped LiMgPO4 was identified by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analyses. The XRD results for LiMgPO4 ceramics doped with Tb3+ indicated a single‐phase up to 5 mol%, accompanied by lattice shrinkage. An SEM analysis of LiMgPO4 samples showed that increasing Tb3+ concentration reduced grain size but did not cause any significant change in slightly angular and round grains. The emission intensity of phosphor increased from .10 to 5 mol%, and no concentration quenching was observed. The luminescence color of LiMgPO4:Tb3+ phosphor can be tuned from blue to green through cross‐relaxation with the increase in Tb3+ concentration. The photoluminescence emissions of LiMgPO4:Tb3+ on the CIE diagram shifted from blue to green as the Tb3+ concentration increased. The color purity of the 5 mol% Tb3+‐doped phosphor showing the strongest emission was measured at 22.71%, whereas the color‐correlated temperature parameter was found to be 5573 K. The phosphors exhibited bi‐exponential decay profiles, and the observed lifetimes of 5D3 decreased with the increase of Tb3+, where the cross‐relaxation effect increased. The quantum efficiency (ɳQE) of the phosphor was determined using the cross‐relaxation process. For Tb3+ concentrations ranging from .1 to 5 mol%, the ɳQE of the 5D3 state decreased from 62.49% to 28.29%. The research may offer a new perspective and new approaches for tuning luminescence in Tb3+‐doped phosphors.

Physical interpretation of the cos ϕ term and implications for detectors

Abstract:2014 Theoretical calculations of the total current in a superconductor-barrier-superconductor device based on the conventional tunneling Hamiltonian yield three terms, conventionally termed the Josephson supercurrent or pair current, the quasiparticle current, and the quasiparticle-pair-interference or « cos ~ » current. When reconciled, existing theories predict relative signs of the quasiparticle and quasiparticle-pair currents which are opposite to the results of recent experiments which purport to demonstrate the existence and properties of the latter current. This discrepancy remains unresolved. The cos ~ current (whatever its sign) is not expected to give rise to qualitatively new and striking phenomena in Josephson devices, but may quantitatively affect the dynamical and fluctuation behavior of these devices in a variety of ways. COSINUS PHI TERM. Josephson’s original calculation [1] ] of the current between two superconductors coupled by the tunneling Hamiltonian yielded three terms or components, which he later expressed in the form [2] J = J1(V) Sin 9 + [03C30(V) + Q1(V) cos ~] v. (1) The first term is the famous phase-dependent Josephson supercurrent. The second is the « normal » or quasiparticle current first studied by Giaever. The third term is variously referred to as the « cos ç » term or the quasiparticle-pair (interference) term. This term has until recently received little attention, either theoretically ors experimentally. Its known experimental manifestations are rather subtle, and it has been easy to overlook in the shadows thrown by the brilliant glow of the Josephson supercurrent. However, it is now clear that it must be taken into account in any complete picture of the behavior of weakly-coupled superconductors. It is not so clear whether it plays an important role in the behavior of any of the potentially useful Josephson devices, e. g., the detectors on which this conference is focused. 1 shall attempt to describe here the current state of our theoretical and experimental understanding of the cos ç term and then indicate some of the questions (*) Work supported by the US Army Research Office (Durham) and the National Science Foundation. which remain to be answered, particularly with respect to its role in the operation of high frequency detectors. The theory of the tunnel current between two superconductors separated by an insulating barrier has been presented by many authors, beginning with Josephson. 1 would like to outline this theory in order to set the stage for some subsequent comments. The starting point is the situation pictured in figure 1, two superconductors separated by a barrier. States in the L(eft) superconductor are labeled with wave number k and spin index s, states in the R(ight) superconductor are correspondingly labeled with q and s. Abstract:Ca2AlSi3O2N5:Sm3+ phosphor was prepared by a combination of in-situ co-precipitation method with a gas-reduction-nitridation method at 1100 degrees C. Its structure and luminescent properties were investigated with XRD and PL. The emission spectrum of Ca2AlSi3O2N5:Sm3+ shows several pesks at 602 nm ((4)G(5/2) -> H-6(7/2)), and 650 nm ((4)G(5/2) -> H-6(9/2)) under 287 nm excitation. The effect of the doping concentration of Sm3+ activator on the luminescence properties was studied. It is found that the luminescence intensity increases with increasing of Sm3+ doping concentration within limits, and then decreases. The photoluminescence intensity reaches the highest when the Sm3+ doping concentration is 1 mol%.

Abstract:The holistic approach of the photoluminescence (PL), thermoluminescence (TL), and persistent luminescence properties at room temperature of BaAl2O4:Tb3+ were investigated in detail using a wide range of techniques. Materials were obtained using a solution combustion synthesis. The X-ray powder diffraction patterns of nondoped and Tb3+ doped BaAl2O4 indicated the hexagonal phase, and a Tb4O7 solid solution was observed at 4 and 5 mol% Tb doped aluminate. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy revealed that Ba occupied one site and that Tbions occupied this site as Tb3+ as well as TbIV. PL emission in blue, green, and red was observed under an excitation at 228 nm, that originated from the interconfigurational 4f8–4f75d1 transitions of Tb3+. Time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectroscopy, UV-vis diffuse reflectance, and PL revealed the presence of a Cr3+ impurity. The 0.5 mol% Tb3+ doped BaAl2O4 exhibited a strong TL band at 354, 437 and 598 K, which were attributed to the traps formed by Tb3+ doping and subsequent O2- charge compensation. A persistent luminescence mechanism was constructed for the Tb3+ doped BaAl2O4.After the energy was stored in thermally liberated Tb3+ in the Ba2+ substitution sites and charge compensation defects, the Tb3+ was the source of the continuous luminescence.

Abstract:A series of [(Ba(1-0.3y)Ca0.3y)1-xSmx][Ti(0.8+0.2y)Hf(0.2-0.2y)]O3 (Sm3+-doped (1-y)Ba(Ti0.8Hf0.2)O3-y(Ba0.7Ca0.3)TiO3, abbreviated as Sm3+-doped BCTH, or (1-y)BHT-yBCT:xSm3+, x = 0.0005–0.03, y = 0.2–0.7, y representing the mole fraction of (Ba0.7Ca0.3)TiO3) nano phosphors were prepared by a hydrothermal method. The Sm3+ ions doping amount and triple-point morphotropic phase boundary (TMPB) composition dependent photoluminescence properties were systematically investigated. The hydrothermal synthesized powders present rather pure pseudo-cubic perovskite phase structure at room temperature and locate on the rhombohedral side of MPB. Under the excitation of 409 nm light, the powders exhibit dominant orange-red emission peaks with characteristic emission of the Sm3+ ions at around 564 nm, 596 nm, 644 nm, and 703 nm, relating to the transitions of 4G5/2 → 6H5/2, 6H7/2, 6H9/2 and 6H11/2, respectively. The BHT-0.5BCT:0.005Sm3+ powder exhibits optimal emission in these Sm3+-doped BCTH powders. Furthermore, the phase transition temperature can be characterized by the multi-feature changes of the temperature dependent fluorescence intensity.

Abstract:A series of Gd 1 – x – y Eu x Tb y AlO 3 ( x = 0.01, 0.03, 0.05, 0.07 mol, y = 0.03 mol) tunable color emanating phosphors were synthesized by simplistic low temperature solution combustion process at 600°C. The X-ray powder diffraction and Rietveld refinement analysis confirmed the formation of single-phased co-doped nanophosphor at 1000°C. The synthesized nanophosphors were crystallized in orthorhombic crystal system having P nma (62) space group. The morphological and photoluminescence characteristics of Gd 1 – x – y Eu x Tb y AlO 3 phosphors were validated using field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray analysis, excitation, and emission spectra studies. The optical band gap values of co-doped nanocrystalline phosphors were also evaluated. The detailed analysis of excitation and emission spectra of synthesized nanophosphors revealed that Tb 3+ effectively sensitized Eu 3+ ion and the energy transfer can be controlled by carefully adjusting the amounts of Eu 3+ to achieve color-tunable emission. The non-radiant energy loss phenomenon was observed at x = 0.05(Eu 3+ ) in Gd 1 – x – 0.03 AlO 3 : x Eu 3+ , 0.03Tb 3+ phosphors. Commission International de I'Eclairage 1931 color coordinates ( x , y ) of co-doped samples have been extracted from emission spectra avail of photoluminescent data. The result suggested that hue could have been vigilant in greenish, orangish red and dark red color region with divergences in Eu 3+ ( x = 0, 0.01, 0.03, 0.05, 0.07). Other pertinent photometric assets, i.e. correlated color temperature and color purity of synthesized co-doped nanocrystalline materials were determined as well. This study advances understanding of rare earth ion co-doping effects, also providing new design opportunities for enhanced luminous materials for usage in light emitting diodes, lasers, displays, and solid-state technological innovations.

Abstract:This study examines the impact of doping Tb 3 + ions into Ca 12 Al 14 O 33 to analyze its structural and luminescent properties for potential use in plasma display panels (PDPs). Phosphors were synthesized via the sol–gel method and characterized using XRD, FT-IR, SEM, and PL techniques. Morphological observations via SEM revealed micron-sized, irregularly shaped particles, outlining the distinct morphology of the material. Luminescence investigations revealed an improved energy transfer process apparent in the emission and excitation spectra. Under ultraviolet (UV) and vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) excitation, the predominant green emission at 543 nm, attributed to the 5 D 4 → 7 F 5 transition of Tb 3+ ions, exhibited optimal luminescent properties up to a Tb 3+ concentration of 0.07 mol. However, the subsequent decrease in emission intensity beyond this threshold occurred due to a concentration-quenching effect. Further analyses demonstrated vacuum photoluminescence at 147 nm and 172 nm, exhibiting robust green emissions at 543 nm associated with the 5 D 3 , 5 D 4 → 7 F J transitions inherent to Tb 3+ ions. Moreover, all samples exhibited color purity ranging from 85 to 95%. The exceptional luminescence attributes of Ca 12 Al 14 O 33 :Tb 3+ signify its potential in diverse applications. Notably, its promising applicability in PDP stems is due to its specific emission peaks and luminescent behavior. This study presents avenues for future research, emphasizing potential optimization strategies for PDP applications and exploring the properties of phosphors across various technological domains.

Abstract:In the prevailing study, single-phased color-tunable La 1– x–y Eu x Tb y AlO 3 co-doped nanocrystalline phosphors have been synthesized via the most simplistic and low-cost urea-aided solution combustion synthetic route. This was done by adjusting the doping concentration of Eu 3+ ( x = 0.01 mol, 0.03 mol, 0.05 mol, 0.07 mol) and Tb 3+ ( y = 0.03 mol) ions in the LaAlO 3 host lattice. The X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and Rietveld refinement analysis confirmed the formation of single-phased La 0.97– x AlO 3 : x Eu 3+ /0.03Tb 3+ ( x = 0.07), co-doped nanophosphor at 800 °C. The synthesized nanophosphors were crystallized in cubic crystal system having space group with 221 space group number. The morphological studies, i.e. field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and transmission electron microscope (TEM) images depicted the agglomerated clusters of distinct spherical shaped particles of La 0.97– x AlO 3 : x Eu 3+ /0.03Tb 3+ in nano-regime. Energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX) was employed to ascertain the real elemental mapping of the fabricated phosphors. Through diffuse reflectance (DR) spectroscopy measurements, the optical band gap value for La 0.92 Eu 0.05 Tb 0.03 AlO 3 nanocrystalline phosphor was determined to be 5.26 eV. The photoluminescent excitation (PLE) and photoluminescent emission (PL) spectra were studied in detail as a function of Eu 3+ ion contents and La 1– x –0.03 AlO 3 : x Eu 3+ /0.03Tb 3+ ( x = 0.05 mol) co-doped sample exhibits strongest emission and over the 0.05 Eu 3+ ions doping concentration, the emission intensity falls as a consequence of the quenching phenomenon. The concentration quenching in directed co-doped nanophosphors was attributed to the dipole-dipole interactions. With the exploitation of photoluminescent data, Commission International de I′Eclairage 1931 (CIE) color coordinates ( x , y ) of co-doped samples have been calculated from the emission spectra, which revealed the color could be tuned i.e., from orange to red region in La 0.97– x AlO 3 : x Eu 3+ /0.03Tb 3+ samples with divergences in the Eu 3+ and other significant photometric assets viz. correlated color temperature (CCT), color purity (CP) of the synthesized La 1– x–y AlO 3 : x Eu 3+ , y Tb 3+ co-doped nanocrystalline photoluminescent materials were also determined. The studies outcomes suggested that Eu 3+ /Tb 3+ co-doped LaAlO 3 phosphors have great potential as color-tunable luminescent material in solid-state lighting and display technologies.

Abstract:A novel white long persistent phosphor of Y3Al2Ga3O12:Tb3+ was prepared by the soft chemical method. Y3Al2Ga3O12:Tb3+ presented a white long persistent luminescence when the doping concentration of Tb3+ was just 0.1% and the afterglow time was able to last more than 2 h. The persistent emission of Tb3+ in Y3Al2Ga3O12 consisted of all color emissions in the visible spectrum from an identical luminescent center (Tb3+); meanwhile, the white-light color won't vary as the afterglow time goes on. The mystery behind this phenomenon was studied deeply including trap depths, distribution and types. The trap depths was calculated from 0.65 to 1.15 eV by the initial rise method analysis, highly corresponding to the ideal energy for trapping and releasing at room temperature. What's more, the estimated trap structure was proved to be a continuous trap distribution by varying the thermal cleaning temperature. The persistent luminescence mechanism of Y3Al2Ga3O12:Tb3+ was illustrated and discussed in detail on the basis of the experimental results. Abstract:An innovative green emitting novel BaY 1 − x Tb x Al 3 O 7 ( x = 0.02, 0.03, 0.04, 0.05, and 0.06) was synthesized using urea combustion, which was a low-energy process. Using techniques such as photoluminescence (PL), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and energy dispersive x-ray (EDX) spectroscopy, the structure and luminous properties of the phosphor were investigated. Scherrer's equation was utilized in the XRD technique to determine the crystallite size of the suggested materials. When stimulated with the near-ultraviolet photon, PL spectra revealed intense green emission at 541 nm ( 5 D 4 → 7 F 5 ). The composition with the maximum emission intensity is BaY 0.96 Tb 0.04 Al 3 O 7 . The dipole–dipole mechanism for concentration quenching events was identified with the help of the critical energy transfer distance. The non-radiative relaxation rate (276 s − 1 ), radiative lifetime (0.75754 ms), and quantum efficiency (79%), of the ideal phosphor composition are calculated using Auzel's model. The color coordinates (0.260, 0.496) align with the emission of green light. The remarkable outcomes validated the significance of the targeted nanocrystals as a superior material with prospective applications in solid-state down-converted white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs).

Abstract:In this study, a series of Al3+ co-doped Tb3Ga5O12:Eu3+ orange light-emitting phosphors was synthesized using a high-temperature solid-state reaction method. At an excitation wavelength of 379 nm, all samples exhibited strong orange light emissions at 592 nm. This could be attributed to the dominance of the 5D0/7F1 transition of Eu3+ ions, indicating that the Eu3+ ions were located at highly symmetrical sites in the host lattice. In order to improve the luminescence performance of Tb3Ga5O12:Eu3+, the effect of Al3+ ion doping on the crystal structure and luminescence properties of Tb3Ga5O12:Eu3+ were studied. It was found that Al3+ doping could significantly improve the emission intensity of Tb3Ga5O12:Eu3+. With an increase in Al3+ doping concentration, the intensity increased to a maximum and then decreased. At x = 0.6 with Tb3Ga5-xAlxO12:Eu3+, the luminescence intensity reached the maximum value, which is 2.07 times of Tb3Ga5O12:Eu3+. In addition, the Tb3Ga4.4Al0·6O12:Eu3+ phosphor demonstrated good thermal stability with activation energy of 0.244 eV, and its quantum efficiency was as high as 95.6%. In summary, an orange light-emitting diode device was manufactured, indicating that Tb3Ga5-xAlxO12:Eu3+ orange light-emitting phosphors have potential applications by combination with near-ultraviolet LED devices.

Synthesis and luminescent properties of (Ce0.67-xGdxTb0.33) MgAl11O19 phosphors

Abstract:Phosphors with (Ce0.67-xGdxTb0.33)MgAl11O19(0less than or equal toxless than or equal to0.37) composition were prepared by sol-gel processing. The preparation process, crystal structure and luminescent properties of the phosphor powders were investigated. The excitation spectrum is characteristic of Ce3+ ion, while the emission spectrum is composed of lines from Tb3+ ion with main emission peaks at around 542 nm and 487 nm. As the Gd3+ concentration increases, the luminescent intensity at about 542 nm increases to a maximum when x is about 0.12 and then decreases again at higher concentration of Gd3+ ion whereas, the luminescence at about 487 nm follows the contrary rule.

Abstract:As a new generation of luminescent materials, aluminate rare earth materials have the characteristics of long luminescent time, adjustable wavelength and high brightness. Aluminate rare earth luminescent materials were prepared by high temperature solid-state method, and the luminescent properties of the luminescent materials were studied. Firstly, the author synthesized magnesium aluminate, calcium aluminates, and zinc aluminate matrix by combustion method. Then aluminate rare earth luminescent materials were prepared by high temperature solid phase method through raw material distribution, raw material mixing, drying, calcination, and post-treatment. Finally, a fluorescence spectrophotometer was used to measure the excitation and emission spectra of the prepared sample material. The research results indicate that the excitation wavelength does not affect the relationship between the emission wavelength and light intensity, the emission spectra of MgAl2O4:Tb3+ and CaAl2O4:Tb3+ exhibit narrowband transition emission states; When the mass fraction of rare earth factor Eu3+ in the activator is 6% and the temperature is 1300?C, the emission peak intensity of the luminescent material reaches its maximum value, and the luminescence intensity is the best.

Abstract:Ce3+/Tb3+ co-doped phosphors Mg1.94-xAl3.96Si5.04O18: 0.06Ce3+, xTb3+ were prepared by using high temperature solid-state reaction method. The crystal structure, photoluminescence spectrum, decay time and thermal stability of the obtained samples were systematically investigated. The CIE chromaticity coordinates dramatically shifted from (blue region, 0.1518, 0.0972) to (green-yellow, 0.2537, 0.5428) with the increasing of the Tb3+ concentration. The emission spectra shown that the optimum concentration of Tb3+is 0.03 mol in the Mg1.94-xAl3.96Si5.04O18: 0.06Ce3+, xTb3+ phosphors. The sample of x =0.03 mol emitted a green-yellow light under the excitation of near-ultraviolet light ∼ 330 nm. The critical distance between the co-doped ions is calculated to be ∼ 15.99 Å. The energy transfer type from Ce3+ to Tb3+ was determined dipole-dipole interaction. The energy transfer efficiency between the Ce3+ and Tb3+ in Mg1.94-xAl3.96Si5.04O18: 0.06Ce3+, 0.03Tb3+ was calculated to be 84.23 %, which indicated the energy transfer with a high efficiency. Moreover, the emission intensity of the sample (x = 0.03) increased with the increasing of environmental temperature, which indicated that the sample has thermal anti-quenching property. The obtained results implied that the as-prepared phosphor material has a potential application for near-ultraviolet white LEDs.

Abstract:This article explores the structural, morphological, thermoluminescence, and temperature-dependent emission properties of novel Dy3+ doped BaMgAl10O17(BAM-Dy) phosphors. Structural studies reveal that the phosphor has a similar structure to β-alumina. Rod-shaped interlinked surface morphology is a notable characteristic of the BAM-Dy samples. Incorporation of Dy3+ ions lead to the formation of distinct emission peaks (485 nm, 577 nm, and 635 nm) in the PL emission spectra. The effect of dopant concentration on the light output is crucial, and the highest PL intensity is observed for 1.5 mol% of Dy3+ concentration. The potential use of BAM-Dy phosphors for Gamma radiation detection and measurement is tested through thermoluminescence studies, which reveal high sensitivity, low threshold dose values, and exceptional response to low gamma doses, making them suitable for dosimetry applications. The investigation of trap parameters provides useful information about the number of traps, trapping mechanism, and trap energies, which is essential for in depth study-of synthesized phosphors for γ dosimetry application. The study of the effect of temperature on the luminescence behaviour is crucial for the application of phosphors in the light-emitting field. The BAM-Dy samples exhibit excellent thermal stability even at 210 ̊ C, making them suitable for use in the field of White LEDs.

Abstract:Tb-doped Mg 2 SiO 4 single crystals were grown by floating zone method, and photoluminescence (PL), scintillation, and thermally stimulated luminescence (TSL) properties were evaluated. In the PL and scintillation properties, Tb-doped Mg 2 SiO 4 single crystals showed emission peaks at 380, 420, 440, 460, 480, 495, 550, 590, and 630 nm, and the derived decay time constants were typical for the 4f-4f transitions of Tb 3+ ions. Regarding the dosimetric properties, TSL glow curves represented the main peaks at 50, 200, and 350 °C, and the TSL spectra exhibited the nine emission peaks due to Tb 3+ ions. Compared with a commercial TSL dosimeter (TORECK, MSO-S) equipped with powder-form Tb-doped Mg 2 SiO 4 , the integrated TSL intensity of the 0.4% Tb-doped single crystal was higher than that of MSO-S element in the dose range from 0.01 to 100 mGy air .
Luminescence properties and efficient energy transfer investigations of inverse garnet-type Mg 3 Y 2− x − y Ge 3 O 12 : x Tb 3+ , y Eu 3+ multicolor phosphor

Abstract:Tb 3+ and/or Eu 3+ doped Mg 3 Y 2 Ge 3 O 12 phosphors were synthesized successfully through solid-state reaction. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns, photoluminescence (PL), fluorescence decay curve and energy transfer behavior of the samples were studied in detail. XRD patterns show all samples are attributed to inverse garnet structure. Under UV excitation, the singly doped phosphors with Tb 3+ and Eu 3+ ions showed green and red characteristic emission. The emission color of Mg 3 Y 2 Ge 3 O 12 :Tb 3+ , Eu 3+ can be adjusted by the corresponding Tb 3+ –Eu 3+ energy transfer, which also demonstrated excellent thermal stability at 448 K (78.09%). These results indicate that the Mg 3 Y 2 Ge 3 O 12 :Tb 3+ , Eu 3+ phosphors will have potential use in n-UV pumped LED devices.

Abstract:In this workr, we fabricated a novel spinel‐type phosphor material MgAl2‐xGaxO4 doped with Cr3+ by the high‐temperature solid‐state sintering method. The crystal field environment of the spinel was tuned by replacing the Al ions with Ga3+ ions of different concentrations. The cell volume and Dq/B gradient increase from 2.82 to 2.62 with increasing Ga3+ ion doping concentration. This also implies a gradual decrease in the field strength of the crystal. Based on this, the excitation spectra of MgAl1.995‐xGaxO4:0.5%Cr3+ phosphors yield a redshift. Increasing the Ga3+ ion doping concentration also improves the emission intensity and thermal stability of the phosphors, and the emission intensity of the Ga3+‐doped phosphors is significantly increased. For a Ga/Al ratio of 1, the thermal stability of the phosphor emission is optimal. The emission intensity at 140°C can maintain 76% of the emission intensity at room temperature, indicating that appropriate Ga3+ ion doping can improve the emission efficiency and thermal stability of the phosphors.
