Abstract:Genetic testing for predisposition cancer syndromes has been broadly implemented in the clinical setting in the last several years. Some of the most recognisable familial cancer syndromes for which genetic testing is available are hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC), familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP), and hereditary breast and ovarian syndrome (HBOS). Genetic testing in these individuals may have relevant medical and psychological implications for them and their families. Whether individuals at risk for hereditary colorectal syndromes such HNPCC or FAP have different motivations and concerns about genetic testing than individuals with HBOS is not known. The first studies addressing motivations for genetic testing for cancer predisposition were carried out in the mid 1990s.1–6 These studies were conducted not in people actually undergoing testing but in the general population or among first-degree relatives of individuals with breast, ovarian, or colon cancer. They revealed that willingness to undergo genetic testing was associated with higher perception of cancer risk or of being a gene carrier and that the most common reasons for their stated intent to pursue genetic testing were to learn about one’s children’s risks, be reassured regarding one’s own risk, and a wish to increase screening practices. Concerns about genetic testing included mistrust of test accuracy, worry about losing health insurance, and fear of emotional reactions if the test was positive. Effect of build angle, resin layer thickness and viscosity on the surface properties and microbial adhesion of denture bases manufactured using digital light processing

Abstract:Objectives: To investigate differences in the surface properties and microbial adhesion of denture base resins for digital light processing (DLP) with varying resin layer thicknesses (LT), build angles (BA), and resin viscosities. Methods: Two denture base resins for DLP with different viscosities (high and low) were used to prepare disk specimens applying two manufacturing parameters: 1) LT (50 or 100 μm) and 2) BA (0-, 45-, and 90-degree). Surface roughness and contact angle values were measured on the test surfaces (n=10 per group). Streptococcus oralis and Candida albicans absorbance was measured to assess microorganism attachment (n=6 per group). A three-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was conducted, considering the main effects and their interactions (viscosity, LT, and BA). Post-hoc multiple pairwise comparisons were performed. All data were analyzed at a level of significance (P) of 0.05. Results: LT and BA significantly affected the surface roughness and contact angle of the specimens, depending on resin viscosity (P<.001). Absorbance measurement showed no significant interaction between the three factors (P>.05). However, significant interactions were observed between viscosity and BA (P<.05) and between LT and BA (P<.05). Conclusions: Regardless of the viscosity and LT, discs with a 0-degree BA showed the least roughness. High-viscosity specimens fabricated with a 0-degree BA had the lowest contact angle. Regardless of the LT and viscosity, discs with a 0-degree BA showed the lowest S. oralis attachment. Attachment of C. albicans was the least on the disk with 50 μm LT, irrespective of the viscosity. Clinical significance: Clinicians should consider the effects of LT and BA on surface roughness, contact angle, and microbial adhesion of DLP-generated dentures, which can differ depending on resin viscosity. A 50 μm LT and 0-degree BA can be used with a high-viscosity resin to fabricate denture bases with less microbial adhesion.
Post-processing of DLP-printed denture base polymer: Impact of a protective coating on the surface characteristics, flexural properties, cytotoxicity, and microbial adhesion

Abstract:Objectives: To investigate the effect of a protective coating on the surface characteristics, flexural properties, cytotoxicity, and microbial adhesion of vat-photopolymerization additive-manufacturing denture base polymers. Methods: The specimens were additively manufactured using digital light processing (DLP). Specimen surfaces were coated with the same printed resin, and mechanical polishing was used for comparison. Surface topography, arithmetical mean height (Sa), and water contact angle values were measured. Furthermore, flexural strength (FS)/modulus and fractography were evaluated. Also, cytotoxicity was evaluated by an extract test. Finally, an adhesion test was used to investigate the adhesion of mixed oral bacteria to the specimens. Results: The Sa values in the polished (0.26 ± 0.08 µm) and coated (0.38 ± 0.14 µm) groups were significantly lower than in the untreated (2.21 ± 0.42 µm) and control (2.01 ± 0.37 µm) groups. The coating treatment resulted in a higher FS compared to the untreated surface (p = 0.0002). After the coating treatment, no significant differences were found in relative cell viability between the groups (p > 0.05). The quantitative results showed significantly higher bacterial adhesion in the untreated group than in the polished (p = 0.0047) and coated (p < 0.0001) groups. Significance: The surface characteristics and flexural properties were optimized by the protective coating. Also, the protective coating did not adversely affect cytocompatibility. Moreover, the coating treatment could effectively decrease oral bacteria adhering to the surfaces. Therefore, the protective coating treatment can be a less time-consuming alternative to mechanical polishing as a post-processing procedure for the digital denture.

Effect of build orientation and layer thickness on manufacturing accuracy, printing time, and material consumption of 3D printed complete denture bases

Abstract:Objectives: To evaluate the influence of build orientation and layer thickness on manufacturing accuracy, material consumption, and printing time of complete denture (CD) bases fabricated using digital light processing (DLP). Methods: The CD base was designed on the basis of a standard maxillary edentulous model. Seventy CD bases were fabricated using a DLP 3D printer (Pro95, SprintRay, USA) and printable CD base material (DENTCA Denture Base II, Dentca, USA) at seven build orientations (0°, labial 45°, labial 90°, posterior 45°, posterior 90°, buccal 45°, and buccal 90°) and two types of layer thicknesses (50- and 100 μm) (n = 5). All test CD bases were digitalized and superimposed on the reference cast by section-based best-fit alignment. For evaluating manufacturing accuracy, deviation analysis was performed to compare the test data with the reference cast using the "3D Compare" in the 3D metrology software. The printing time and material consumption were calculated using slicing software and recorded, respectively. The two-way ANOVA test was used for accuracy evaluation, and the non-parametric test was used to evaluate printing time and material consumption (α = 0.05). Results: Statistically significant differences were found in the manufacturing accuracy (p < 0.001), printing time (p < 0.001), and material consumption (p < 0.001) among the build orientation groups. The labial 45° and labial 90° groups showed the best accuracy. The 90° build orientations required the least material consumption and longest printing time; the labial 45° group consumed the most printing materials; the 0° group required the shortest printing time to fabricate a CD base. Moreover, the layer thickness influenced the printing time (p < 0.001) rather than the accuracy (p = 0.560) and material consumption (p = 1.000). Conclusions: When DLP was used to fabricate the CD bases, the build orientation influenced the manufacturing accuracy, material consumption, and printing time. However, the layer thickness only affected the printing time. Clinical significance: This study suggests that optimizing the build orientation can improve the manufacturing accuracy and reduce the material consumption and printing time of a DLP-printed CD base. The fast-printing setting (100 μm layer thickness) can reduce the printing time without compromising the manufacturing accuracy of the CD base.

Methods: Two denture base resins for DLP in different viscosity (high and low) were tested by using two manufacturing parameters:1) layer thickness (LT) (50- or 100-μm) and 2) build angle (BA) (0-, 45-, and 90-degree). disk- and bar-shaped specimens were used to evaluate hardness and flexural strength, respectively. Denture base specimens were used to examine trueness, and the deviation was calculated as the root mean square. Three-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was conducted to determine the interaction among the three factors (viscosity, LT, and BA). Statistical significance was set at P < .05. Results: Effects of LT and BA on hardness differed according to viscosity, with significant interactions among three factors (P=.027). Regardless of LT or BA, the low-viscosity group had higher hardness than the high-viscosity group (P<.001). In terms of flexural strength, no significant interaction was detected between the factors (P=.212), however, the effects of LT and BA were significant (P=.003 and P<.001, respectively). Regarding trueness, a significant interaction was observed between viscosity and BA (P=.001). Low-viscosity group had higher trueness than high-viscosity group when the 45- and 90-degree BA were applied (P<.001). Conclusions: LT and BA significantly affected the mechanical properties and trueness of the 3DP denture base, depending on the viscosity. For hardness and trueness, using low-viscosity resin and manufacturing with 50-μm LT and 45-degree BA are recommended. Clinical significance: Resin viscosity affects the influence of LT and BA on the hardness, flexural strength, and trueness of DLP-generated denture bases. A 50-μm LT and 45-degree BA can be used with a low-viscosity resin to fabricate denture bases with higher hardness and trueness.

Abstract:Background and Purpose: The human mouth mucosal surface is colonized by indigenous microflora, which normally maintains an ecological balance among different species. However, certain environmental or biological factors may disrupt this balance, leading to microbial diseases. Candida albicans biofilms are formed on indwelling medical devices and have an association with both oral and invasive candidiasis. This study aimed to compare the amount of adherent C. albicans and the biofilm formed on different denture base materials. The adhesion of C. albicans to denture base materials is widely recognized as the main reason for the development of denture stomatitis. Materials and Methods: In total, 56 polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) acrylic resin disc-shaped samples were divided into four groups as follows: 1) chemically polymerized PMMA, 2) heat-polymerized PMMA, 3) computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) PMMA in high polish, and 4) CAD/CAM resins in glazed form. The adherent cells and formation of C. albicans strains (562, 1905, 1912, and 1949) biofilm were measured by the 2,3-bis-(2-methoxy-4-nitro-5- sulfophenyl)-2H-tetrazolium-5-carboxanilide (XTT) method and use of a microplate reader. Moreover, morphological alterations of C. albicans cells were investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Results: The biofilm formation was significantly lower on CAD/CAM acrylic resins, compared to conventional denture base materials. The obtained results were confirmed by the SEM images of C. albicans biofilms. CAD/CAM PMMA-based polymers may be preferable to inhibit C. albicans biofilm formation and reduce Candida-associated denture stomatitis in long-term use. Conclusion: Based on the findings, the CAD/CAM technique can be used as an efficient technique for denture fabrication as it inhibits microbial accumulation, and consequently, microbial biofilm.

Abstract:Technological advances are closely related to the development of new materials and their processing and manufacturing technologies. In the dental field, the high complexity of the geometrical designs of crowns, bridges and other applications of digital light processing 3D-printable biocompatible resins is the reason for the need for a deep understanding of the mechanical proprieties and behavior of these materials. The aim of the present study is to assess the influence of printing layer direction and thickness on the tensile and compression proprieties of a DLP 3D-printable dental resin. Using the NextDent C&B Micro-Filled Hybrid (MFH), 36 specimens (24 for tensile strength testing, 12 for compression testing) were printed at different layer angulations (0°, 45° and 90°) and layer thicknesses (0.1 mm and 0.05 mm). Brittle behavior was observed in all specimens regardless of the direction of printing and layer thickness for the tensile specimens. The highest tensile values were obtained for specimens printed with a layer thickness of 0.05 mm. In conclusion, both printing layer direction and thickness influence mechanical proprieties and can be used to alter the materials' characteristics and make the final printed product more suitable for its intended purposes.

Abstract:Statement of problem: Though computer-aided design and computer-aided manufactured (CAD-CAM) denture bases have become popular, evidence on the ability of C. albicans cells to adhere to these denture bases is lacking. Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the adherence of Candida albicans to differently manufactured acrylic resin denture bases. Material and methods: Acrylic resin disks were fabricated using a total of 6 different fabrication methods (compression molding, injection molding, CAD-CAM milling, and rapid prototyping on 3 different printers with 3 different resins). Each material was evaluated for adherence of C. albicans using 2 different experimental methods - suspension in inoculated tryptic soy broth (TSB) or placed onto a uniform lawn of C. albicans on tryptone soya agar (TSA) with 5% sheep's blood. Attached cells were quantified by spiral plating and then used to re-inoculate sterile plates. Logarithmic transformation was completed to normalize data. For the broth suspension, the Kruskal-Wallis test was used to identify any differences between the 6 specimen types in terms of recovery, and the Dunn test was used for post hoc analysis. For the microbial lawn experiment, 1-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and then the Tukey Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) post hoc test were used. Results: Statistically significant differences were found between the numbers of adherent cells based on manufacturing method and between experimental designs (P<.05). All resins demonstrated growth with re-inoculation. Conclusions: Though statistical significance was noted, neither experimental technique demonstrated what is likely a clinically significant preferential binding to any particular resin surface. Attached Candida cells are effective carriers of pathogens to uninfected surfaces. Further studies are indicated for potential virulence factors and differences in printed resins.

Abstract:Background: A major disadvantage of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) acrylic resins is susceptibility to biofilm accumulation. The incorporation of antimicrobial agents is a reliable prevention technique. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of incorporating dimethylaminohexadecyl methacrylate (DMAHDM) and/or 2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC) into heat-polymerized (HP) and 3D-printed (3DP) denture base materials on the flexural strength, modulus of elasticity, and surface hardness. Methods: DMAHDM and/or MPC were mixed with the acrylic resin liquid of a heat-polymerized (ProBase Hot) and a 3D printed (NextDent Denture 3D) material at mass fractions of 1.5% and 3% and a combination of 3% MPC and 1.5% DMAHDM. Results: Significant differences in mechanical properties between the control and experimental groups have been detected (p-value < 0.0001). In HP materials, the addition of DMAHDM and/or MPC generally decreased the flexural strength, from (151.18 MPa) in G1 down to (62.67 MPa) in G5, and surface hardness, from (18.05 N/mm2) down to (10.07 N/mm2) in G5. Conversely, in 3DP materials, flexural strength was slightly enhanced, from (58.22 MPa) in G1 up to (62.76 MPa) in G6, although surface hardness was consistently reduced, from (13.57 N/mm2) down to (5.29 N/mm2) in G5. Conclusion: It is recommended to carefully optimize the concentrations of DMAHDM and/or MPC to maintain mechanical integrity.

Abstract:The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of 2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC) polymer coating with various concentrations onto acrylic resin denture base material on surface characteristics such as contact angle and surface roughness and on Candida albicans adhesion which is the major factor of denture stomatitis. Specimens, prepared from heat-polymerized acrylic denture base material, were divided into control and three test groups, randomly. Surfaces of the specimens in test groups were coated with poly(MPC) (PMPC) by graft polymerization of MPC in different concentrations (0.25 mol/L; 0.50 mol/L and 0.75 mol/L), while no surface treatment was applied to the control group. Contact angles and surface roughness were examined, and chemical composition of the surfaces was analyzed by Attenuated Total Reflectance-Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) to verify the presence of PMPC coatings. Then, specimens were incubated with C. albicans for 18 h and the number of adhered cells was determined. Upon PMPC coating, the contact angle values statistically decreased, but no difference was found in surface roughness values. A statistically significant decrease was observed in C. albicans adhesion in parallel with the increase in the MPC polymer concentration. There was no significant difference between 0.50 mol/L and 0.75 mol/L groups in terms of adhesion. These findings indicated that graft polymerization of MPC on acrylic denture base material reduces the adhesion of C. albicans, and may be evaluated as a coating for prevention of denture stomatitis.
Postpolymerization of a 3D-printed denture base polymer: Impact of post-curing methods on surface characteristics, flexural strength, and cytotoxicity

Abstract:Objective: This study investigated the influence of postpolymerization of a three-dimensional (3D) printed denture base polymer. The effect of post-curing methods on surface characteristics, flexural strength, and cytotoxicity was evaluated. Methods: A total of 172 specimens were additively manufactured using one denture base material (V-Print dentbase, VOCO) and further post-cured by different light-curing devices, including Otoflash G171 (OF), Labolight DUO (LL), PCU LED (PCU), and LC-3DPrintbox (PB), respectively. Polymethyl methacrylate resin (PalaExpress Ultra) was used as a reference (REF). Afterward, surface topography was observed using scanning electron microscopy, and surface roughness was measured (n = 6). Furthermore, flexural strength was tested (n = 20). Cytotoxicity was evaluated by the extract and direct contact tests. The data were analyzed using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and one-way ANOVA followed by Tukey's multiple comparisons and Kruskal-Wallis tests (p < 0.05). Results: The different post-curing methods applied did not significantly influence surface topography and roughness (Ra). Meanwhile, specimens post-cured by PCU (162.3 ± 44.16 MPa) and PB (171.2 ± 34.41 MPa) showed significantly higher flexural strength than those post-cured by OF (131.3 ± 32.87 MPa) and REF (131.2 ± 19.19 MPa), respectively. Additionally, various post-curing methods effectively decreased the cytotoxic effects of 3D-printed denture base polymer. Conclusions: Different post-curing methods did not significantly alter the Ra values of the 3D-printed denture base material. However, flexural strength was significantly affected by the postpolymerization methods, which might be attributed to the different wavelengths of post-curing devices. In addition, various postpolymerization methods reduced the cytotoxic effects of the 3D-printed denture base polymer. Clinical significance: Flexural strength of additively manufactured denture bases depends on the postpolymerization strategy. Therefore, an appropriate post-curing method is required to optimize the flexural strength of 3D-printed denture materials.
Surface roughness and marginal adaptation of stereolithography versus digital light processing three-dimensional printed resins: An in-vitro study

Abstract:Aim: The aim of this study was to assess surface roughness and marginal adaptation of Stereolithographic versus Digital Light Processed three-dimensional (3D) printed provisional resins. Materials and methods: A 3-unit fixed partial denture (FPD) preparation was done on ideal model irrespective to 44-46. The Model was scanned and a 3-unit FPD was designed using 3-shape software. The STL file was transferred to two different 3D printers - Sprintray digital light processing (DLP) and Formlabs stereolithography (SLA). Eight samples were printed per group (total of 16 samples) using C and B temporary tooth-colored resin and cured according to the manufacturer's instructions. Marginal adaptation was checked for six surfaces per tooth for all the samples using a stereomicroscope. Surface roughness was also calculated for four samples from each group before and after polishing (pumice slurry + rouge and cotton buff) using a contact profilometer. Results: The mean maximum marginal gap overall, was seen for the DLP group on the mesiobuccal surface of the first premolar, i.e., 178.8 ± 8.35 μm, while the minimal marginal gap was seen for the SLA group on the mesiolingual surface of first molar - 32.5 ± 7.07 μm. Furthermore, all the DLP samples showed a statistically significant higher mean marginal gap as compared to SLA samples (P < 0.005). All the samples showed surface roughness within the acceptable range. There was a statistically significant difference noted in Rz (roughness depth) before and after polishing (P < 0.05). Conclusion: 3D printed temporary resin FPD via SLA showed a much better marginal adaptation (49.6 μm mean marginal gap for 46 and 106.8 μm for 44) as compared to those printed via DLP (101.8 μm mean marginal gap for 46 and 157.5 μm for 44). All the samples showed an acceptable surface roughness. Clinical relevance: 3D printed temporaries have shown good marginal fit and adaptation and are a viable choice in patients where temporaries has to be given for long term before a final prosthesis can be fabricated (especially for full mouth rehabilitations).

Abstract:Objective: Characteristics of the adhesion of yeast fungi and oral bacteria of various types in vitro to samples of polymeric materials for fixed structures of dental prostheses, obtained using various technologies: adjective digital 3D printing and traditional methods. Material and methods: Conducted model experiments on the adhesion of bacterial (including the main periodontopic-pathogenic species - P. gingivalis, P. intermedia, etc.) and fungal pathogens (C. albicans) to standard samples of polymer materials NextDent C & B Micro Filled Hybrid («NextDent», Netherlands), Detax Freeprint temp UV («Detax», Germany), obtained by digital additive 3D printing technology, and Luxatemp Automix Plus («DMG», Germany) and Acrytemp («Zhermack», Italy) - by the traditional method as a control. Removal of adhering microbes from the material was carried out using an ultrasound machine (exposure time 10 minutes, power 60 kHz). Results: The dependence of the degree of microbial adhesion on the nature of the material and processing technology (3D printing, milling) was established. The materials of NextDent C & B Micro Filled Hybrid and Detax Freeprint temp UV showed high resistance to adhesion of clinical isolates of periodontal pathogenic bacteria and C. albicans fungi. Conclusion: The lowest adhesion values for periodontopathogenic species and C. albicans fungi were detected when using samples of materials obtained by 3D printing: NextDent C & B Micro Filled Hybrid and Detax Freeprint temp UV compared to Luxatemp Automix Plus and Acrytemp polymers.

Effect of lamination layer thickness and abutment preparation on the fit of Co-Cr multi-unit prostheses fabricated by additive manufacturing: An in vitro study

Abstract:Statement of problem: Selective laser melting has been increasingly used in the fabrication of metal-ceramic prostheses. The lamination layer thickness may influence the fit of the restoration. However, data regarding its impact remain scarce. Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the marginal and internal fit of cobalt-chromium (Co-Cr) 3-unit frameworks fabricated by additive manufacturing with different melting layer thicknesses on different abutments. Material and methods: The first right maxillary premolar and molar from a typodont were prepared with a circumferential 1.2-mm chamfer, 2-mm occlusal reduction, and total taper of 8 degrees to receive 3-unit fixed partial dentures. After framework design, the data were sent to a laser machine, and 30 specimens were fabricated from Co-Cr metal powder (Mediloy S-Co) by selective laser melting. Specimens were assigned to 3 groups (n=10) with different lamination layer thicknesses of 25 (L25), 50 (L50), and 100 (L100) μm. Marginal fit and internal fit were evaluated. Results were compared among layer thickness groups and abutments. Data were compared by using the Levene test, t test, and ANOVA (α=.05). Results: A statistical difference was found between different layer thickness groups (P=.016), but not between abutments (P=.429). On the abutment level, significant difference was found in the gap values for the molars (P=.049) between layer thickness groups, but not for the premolars (P=.126). Group L25 reported the smallest mean discrepancy values, and group L100 reported the highest, with statistical difference found between group L100 and groups L25 (P<.001) and L50 (P<.025), but not between groups L25 and L50 (P=.094). Conclusions: The lamination layer thickness affected the adaptation of the metal frameworks. Framework fit did not significantly differ between abutments.
Double-layered acrylic resin denture base with nanoparticle additions: An in vitro study

Abstract:Statement of problem: Whether the addition of different antifungal nanoparticles to denture base materials may affect physical or esthetic properties of the resulting nanocomposite is unclear. Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to determine how a new method of adding antifungal nanofiller affects the properties of the processed nanocomposite denture base material. Material and methods: Heat-polymerized acrylic resin specimens were prepared according to each test specification. Zirconium dioxide nanoparticles (ZrO2NPs) and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were added in 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5% of acrylic resin powder. The specimens were divided into 2 groups according to the acrylic resin packing method: 1 layer packed conventionally in one step and 2 layers packed in 2 steps, first with unmodified acrylic resin and then by a thin layer of modified acrylic resin before the final closure. The control group was made of unaltered acrylic resin in 1 step. Flexural strength (FS), translucency, and surface roughness (Ra) were measured. A microbial assay was performed by using the direct culture and slide count methods. Three-way ANOVA and Tukey post hoc tests were used to identify statistical differences among groups (α=.05). Results: The addition of ZrO2NPs and AgNPs in the 1- or 2-layer specimens reduced Candida albicans adhesion (P<.001). In the 1- and 2-layer specimens, FS significantly increased with ZrO2NPs. AgNPs decreased FS only in the 1-layer specimen (P<.001). Surface roughness was not changed for the 1- and 2-layer specimens with ZrO2NPs or the 1-layer specimen with 0.5% AgNPs (P>.05), while other AgNP groups exhibited increased surface roughness (P<.001). AgNPs significantly lowered translucency in the 1- and 2-layer specimens (P<.001), while ZrO2NPs decreased translucency only in the 1-layer specimen (P<.001). Conclusions: The addition of ZrO2NPs in the double-layer technique decreased Candida adhesion and improved FS without affecting surface roughness, while AgNPs decreased Candida adhesion and FS and increased surface roughness. Both nanofillers decreased the translucency except 0.5% ZrO2NPs, which did not change translucency when applied in 2 layers.

Abstract:The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of printing material, build angle, and artificial aging on the accuracy of SLA- and DLP-printed occlusal devices in comparison to each other and to subtractively manufactured devices. A total of 192 occlusal devices were manufactured by one SLA-printing and two DLP-printing methods in 5 different build angles as well as milling. The specimens were scanned and superimposed to their initial CAD data and each other to obtain trueness and precision data values. A second series of scans were performed after the specimens underwent an artificial aging simulation by thermocycling. Again, trueness and precision were investigated, and pre- and post-aging values were compared. A statistically significant influence was found for all main effects: manufacturing method, build angle, and thermocycling, confirmed by two-way ANOVA. Regarding trueness, overall tendency indicated that subtractively manufactured splints were more accurate than the 3D-printed, with mean deviation values around ±0.15 mm, followed by the DLP1 group, with ±0.25 mm at 0 degree build angle. Within the additive manufacturing methods, DLP splints had significantly higher trueness for all build angles compared to SLA, which had the highest mean deviation values, with ±0.32 mm being the truest to the original CAD file. Regarding precision, subtractive manufacturing showed better accuracy than additive manufacturing. The artificial aging demonstrated a significant influence on the dimensional accuracy of only SLA-printed splints.
