Abstract:In this article we solve a class of two parameter polynomial-quintic equation. The solution follows if we consider the Jacobian elliptic function $sn$ and relate it with the coefficients of the equation. The solution is the elliptic singular modulus $k$.

Both ingredients are interesting on its own, since the first provide period matrices which can be geometrically described, and the second have remarkable arithmetic properties.

Abstract:In this paper we propose a method of solving the Jacobi inversion problem in terms of multiply periodic $\wp$ functions, also called Kleinian $\wp$ functions. This result is based on the recently developed theory of multivariable sigma functions for $(n,s)$-curves. Considering $(n,s)$-curves as canonical representatives in the corresponding classes of bi-rationally equivalent plane algebraic curves, we claim that the Jacobi inversion problem on plane algebraic curves is solved completely. Explicit solutions on trigonal, tetragonal and pentagonal curves are given as an illustration.

Abstract:By using the modified mapping method, we find so me new exact solutions of the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation, mKdV equation and the generalized Boussinesq equation. Abstract:Let $\ell$ be an odd prime and $K$ a field of characteristic different from $\ell$. Let $\bar{K}$ be an algebraic closure of $K$. Assume that $K$ contains a primitive $\ell$th root of unity. Let $n \ne \ell$ be another odd prime. Let $f(x)$ and $h(x)$ be degree $n$ polynomials with coefficients in $K$ and without repeated roots. Let us consider superelliptic curves $C_{f,\ell}: y^{\ell}=f(x)$ and $C_{h,\ell}: y^{\ell}=h(x)$ of genus $(n-1)(\ell-1)/2$, and their jacobians $J^{(f,\ell)}$ and $J^{(h,\ell)}$, which are $(n-1)(\ell-1)/2$-dimensional abelian varieties over $\bar{K}$. Suppose that one of the polynomials is irreducible and the other reducible over $K$. We prove that if $J^{(f,\ell)}$ and $J^{(h,\ell)}$ are isogenous over $\bar{K}$ then both endomorphism algebras $\mathrm{End}^{0}(J^{(f,\ell)})$ and $\mathrm{End}^{0}(J^{(h,\ell)})$ contain an invertible element of multiplicative order $n$.

Abstract:Based on the new expansion of the first kind of elliptic function, a method for constructing Jacobi elliptic function solutions to nonlinear wave equations is p roposed. The method is applied to the coupled KdV-mKdV equation and some new Jacobi elliptic function solutions to the equation are obtained. Some specific kind s of solutions and their relevant figures are also presented.

Abstract:The Jacobian elliptic function sn ( u , k ) is the inverse of the elliptic integral of the first kind and cn ( u , k ) = 1 − sn 2 ( u , k ). In this paper, we study coefficient polynomials in the Taylor series expansions of sn ( u , k ) and cn ( u , k ). We first provide a combinatorial expansion for a family of bivariate peak polynomials, which count permutations by their odd and even cycle peaks. A special case of this combinatorial expansion says that the coefficient polynomials of sn ( u , k ) are γ-positive. We then show that the coefficient polynomials of cn ( u , k ) are bi-γ-positive, which implies that these coefficient polynomials are unimodal with modes in the middle. Furthermore, by using context-free grammars, we find combinatorial interpretations of two associated coefficients in terms of increasing trees.

Abstract:The Jacobi elliptic function method with symbolic computation is extended to special-type nonlinear equations for constructing their doubly periodic wave solutions. Such equations cannot be directly dealt with by the method and require some kinds of pre-possessing techniques. It is shown that soliton solutions and triangular solutions can be established as the limits of the Jacobi doubly periodic wave solutions. The different Jacobi function expansions may lead to new Jacobi doubly periodic wave solutions, triangular periodic solutions and soliton solutions. In addition, as an illustrative sample, the properties for the Jacobi doubly periodic wave solutions of the coupled Schrödinger–KdV equation are shown with some figures.

Abstract:We consider tridiagonal matrices (aij)i,j=1n with constant main diagonal and such that ai,i+1ai+1,i=1 for i=1,...,n−1 . For these matrices, criteria are established under which their Kippenhahn curves contain elliptical components or even consist completely of such. These criteria are in terms of a system of homogeneous polynomial equations in variables (|aj,j+1|−|aj+1,j|)2 , and established via a unified approach across arbitrary dimensions. The results are illustrated, and specific numerical examples are provided for n = 7, thus generalizing earlier work in the lower-dimensional setting.

Abstract:In this article, we introduce many new Jacobi elliptic function solutions to the general elliptic equation. Consequently, the Jacobi elliptic function expansion method is improved to accommodate the general elliptic equation and its new solutions for constructing exact traveling wave solutions of nonlinear partial differential equations (NLPDEs). Moreover, the improved method is used to obtain new explicit solutions for the (3+1)-dimensional integrable Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) equation. This method can be applied to many other NLPDEs as well for obtaining new exact solutions.

Abstract:In this paper we give an overview of some results that have surfaced in the process of trying to understand Jacobian elliptic functions. The main motivation of this paper is to show the symmetry of coefficient polynomials in the Taylor expansions of the Jacobian elliptic function sn(u,k). We obtain this fundamental result by using the method of context-free grammars and by exploiting a connection (established by Dumont in the 1970s) between the coefficient polynomials and a family of bivariate peak polynomials. We then present a connection between the gamma-coefficients of the bivariate peak polynomials and Andre permutations. Furthermore, we introduce a group action on increasing trees which is used to establish a combinatorial interpretation for the gamma-coefficients of the bivariate peak polynomials in terms of some statistics on increasing trees. Along with a bijection between permutations and increasing trees, we also present a combinatorial interpretation for the gamma-coefficients in terms of permutation statistics.

Abstract:We show that for any polynomial $F(X,Y_0,Y_1,Y_2) \in \mathbb{C}[X, Y_0, Y_1, Y_2]$, the equation $F(z,j(z),j'(z),j''(z))=0$ has a Zariski dense set of solutions in the hypersurface $F(X,Y_0,Y_1,Y_2)=0$, unless $F$ is in $\mathbb{C}[X]$ or it is divisible by $Y_0$, $Y_0-1728$, or $Y_1$. Our methods establish criteria for finding solutions to more general equations involving periodic functions. Furthermore, they produce a qualitative description of the distribution of these solutions.

Abstract:An algebraic method is devised to uniformly construct a series of exact solutions for general integrable and nonintegrable nonlinear evolution equations. Compared with most existing tanh methods, the Jacobi function expansion method or other sophisticated methods, the proposed method not only gives new and more general solutions, but also provides a guideline to classify the various types of the solutions according to the values of some parameters. The solutions obtained in this paper include (a) polynomial solutions, (b) exponential solutions, (c) rational solutions, (d) triangular periodic wave solutions, (e) hyperbolic and solitary wave solutions and (f) Jacobi and Weierstrass doubly periodic wave solutions. The efficiency of the method can be demonstrated on a large variety of nonlinear equations such as those considered in this paper, new (2 + 1)-dimensional Calogero-KdV equation, (3 + I)-dimensional Jimbo-Miwa equation, symmetric regular long wave equation, Drinfel'd-Sokolov-Wilson equation, (2 + I)-dimensional generalized dispersive long wave equation, double sine-Gordon equation, Calogero-Degasperis-Fokas equation and coupled Schrodinger-Boussinesq equation. In addition, the links among our proposed method, the tanh method, the extended method and the Jacobi function expansion method are also clarified generally.
