Abstract:We prove a version of Montel's theorem for analytic functions over a non-archimedean complete valued field. We propose a definition of normal family in this context, and give applications of our results to the dynamics of non-archimedean entire functions.

Duality for differential modules over complete non-archimedean valuation field of characteristic zero

Abstract:Let $K$ be a complete non-archimedean valuation field of characteristic $0$, with non-trivial valuation, equipped with (possibly multiple) commuting bounded derivations. We prove a decomposition theorem for finite differential modules over $K$, where decompositions regarding the extrinsic subsidiary $\partial$-generic radii of convergence in the sense of Kedlaya-Xiao. Our result is a refinement of a previous decomposition theorem due to Kedlaya and Xiao. As a key step in the proof, we prove a decomposition theorem in a stronger form in the case where $K$ is equipped with a single derivation. To achieve this goal, we construct an object $f_{0*}L_0$ representing the usual dual functor and study some filtrations of $f_{0*}L_0$, which is used to construct the direct summands appearing in our decomposition theorem.

Two coniveau filtrations and algebraic equivalence over finite fields

Abstract:We extend the basic theory of the coniveau and strong coniveau filtrations to the $\ell$-adic setting. By adapting the examples of Benoist--Ottem to the $\ell$-adic context, we show that the two filtrations differ over any algebraically closed field of characteristic not $2$. When the base field $\mathbb{F}$ is finite, we show that the equality of the two filtrations over the algebraic closure $\overline{\mathbb{F}}$ has some consequences for algebraic equivalence for codimension-$2$ cycles over $\mathbb{F}$. As an application, we prove that the third unramified cohomology group $H^{3}_{\text{nr}}(X,\mathbb{Q}_{\ell}/\mathbb{Z}_{\ell})$ vanishes for a large class of rationally chain connected threefolds $X$ over $\mathbb{F}$, confirming a conjecture of Colliot-Thélène and Kahn.

Abstract:We prove a non-archimedean analogue of Jørgensen's inequality, and use it to deduce several algebraic convergence results. As an application we show that every dense subgroup of $\mathrm{SL}(\mathbb{Q}_p)$ contains two elements which generate a dense subgroup of $\mathrm{SL}(\mathbb{Q}_p)$, which is a special case of a result by Breuillard and Gelander. We also list several other related results, which are well-known to experts, but not easy to locate in the literature; for example, we show that a non-elementary subgroup of $\mathrm{SL}(K)$ over a non-archimedean local field $K$ is discrete if and only if each of its two-generator subgroups is discrete.

Abstract:The convergence of Cesàro means of negative order of double trigonometric Fourier series of functions of bounded partial $\Lambda$-variation is investigated. The sufficient and neccessary conditions on the sequence $\Lambda =\{\lambda_{n}\}$ are found for the convergence of Cesàro means of Fourier series of functions of bounded partial $\Lambda$-variation.

We show that in a rather general case, the corresponding asymptotic Fubini-Study operator yields a one-to-one correspondence between equivalence classes of bounded graded norms and bounded plurisubharmonic metrics that are regularizable from below. This generalizes results of Boucksom-Jonsson where this problem has been studied in the trivially valued case.

Abstract:We prove a new generalization of a theorem of Carleson, namely bounds for a generalized Carleson operator on doubling metric measure spaces. Additionally, we explicitly reduce Carleson's classical result on pointwise convergence of Fourier series to this new theorem. Both proofs are presented in great detail, suitable as a blueprint for computer verification using the current capabilities of the software package Lean. Note that even Carleson's classical result has not yet been computer-verified.

Abstract:We use dual graphs and generating sequences of valuations to compute the Poincare series of non-divisorial valuations on function fields of dimension two. The Poincare series are shown to reflect data from the dual graphs and hence carry equivalent information. This extends Galindo's earlier results on the Poincare series of divisorial valuations and consequently offers an alternative classification of valuations via Poincare series.

Abstract:The main goal of this project is to prove the equivalency of several characterizations of completeness of Archimedean ordered fields; some of which appear in most modern literature as theorems following from the Dedekind completeness of the real numbers, while a couple are not as well known and have to do with other areas of mathematics, such as nonstandard analysis. Continuing, we study the completeness of non-Archimedean fields, and provide several examples of such fields with varying degrees of properties, using nonstandard analysis to produce some relatively "nice" (in particular, they are Cantor complete) final examples. As a small detour, we present a short construction of the real numbers using methods from nonstandard analysis.

A geometric approach to functional equations for general multiple Dirichlet series over function fields

Abstract:Sawin recently gave an axiomatic characterization of multiple Dirichlet series over the function field $\mathbb{F}_{q}(T)$ and proved their existence by exhibiting the coefficients as trace functions of specific perverse sheaves. However, he did not prove that these series actually converge anywhere, instead treating them as formal power series. In this paper, we prove that these series do converge in a certain region, and moreover that the functions obtained by analytically continuing them satisfy functional equations. For convergence, it suffices to obtain bounds on the coefficients, for which we use the decomposition theorem for perverse sheaves, in combination with the Kontsevich moduli space of stable maps to construct a suitable compactification. For the functional equations, the key identity is a multi-variable generalization of the relationship between a Dirichlet character and its Fourier transform; in the multiple Dirichlet series setting, this uses a density trick for simple perverse sheaves and an explicit formula for intermediate extensions from the complement of a normal crossings divisor.

Abstract:Based on BONGs theory, we prove the norm principle for integral and relative integral spinor norms of quadratic forms over general dyadic local fields, respectively. By virtue of these results, we further establish the arithmetic version of Springer's theorem for indefinite quadratic forms. Moreover, we solve the lifting problems on $n$-universality over arbitrary local fields.

Abstract:Given a power series in finitely many variables that is algebraic over the corresponding polynomial ring over a subfield of the reals, we show that its convergence domain is semialgebraic over the real closure of the subfield. This gives in particular that the convergence radius of a univariate Puiseux series that is algebraic in the above sense belongs to the real closure or is infinity.

Abstract:Let $A$ be a non-CM simple abelian variety over a number field $K$. For a place $v$ of $K$ such that $A$ has good reduction at $v$, let $F(A,v)$ denote the Frobenius field generated by the corresponding Frobenius eigenvalues. Assuming $A$ has connected monodromy groups, we show that the set of places $v$ such that $F(A,v)$ is isomorphic to a fixed number field has upper Dirichlet density zero. Assuming the GRH, we give a power saving upper bound for the number of such places.

Abstract:Let K be an algebraically closed field which is complete with respect to a non-trivial non-Archimedean absolute value |⋅|. We study metric properties of the limit set Λ of a semigroup G generated by a finite set of contractive analytic functions on O={z∈K||z|⩽1}. We prove that the limit set Λ of G is uniformly perfect if the derivative of each generating function of G does not vanish on O. Furthermore, we show that if each coefficient of the generating functions is in the field Qp of p-adic numbers, or the limit set Λ satisfies the strong open set condition, then Λ has the doubling property. This yields that the limit set Λ is quasisymmetrically equivalent to the space Z2 of 2-adic integers. We also give a counterexample to show that not all limit sets have the doubling property. The Berkovich space is introduced to study the limit set Λ, and we prove that the limit set Λ has a positive capacity in the Berkovich space which yields that there exists an equilibrium measure μ whose support is contained in the limit set Λ. We also show that if the semigroup is generated by a countable set of contractive analytic functions, then its limit set Λ can be non-compact. However, if coefficients of the generating functions lie in Qp, then the limit set Λ is compact.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to find a non-Archimedean counterpart of the generalized convergence of closable unbounded linear operators as defined by Kato (Perturbation Theory for Linear Operators, 2nd edn. In: Grundlehren der Mathematischen Wissenschaften, Band 132, Springer, Berlin, 1976). Moreover, we prove that this convergence can be considered as a generalization of convergence in norm for unbounded linear operators on non-Archimedean Banach spaces (see Theorem 3.8).

Abstract:An $H$-field is a type of ordered valued differential field with a natural interaction between ordering, valuation, and derivation. The main examples are Hardy fields and fields of transseries. Aschenbrenner and van den Dries proved in~\cite{MZ} that every $H$-field $K$ has either exactly one or exactly two Liouville closures up to isomorphism over $K$, but the precise dividing line between these two cases was unknown. We prove here that this dividing line is determined by $\uplambda$-freeness, a property of $H$-fields that prevents certain deviant behavior. In particular, we show that under certain types of extensions related to adjoining integrals and exponential integrals, the property of $\uplambda$-freeness is preserved. In the proofs we introduce a new technique for studying $H$-fields, the \emph{yardstick argument} which involves the rate of growth of pseudoconvergence.
